Before we knew we were having a boy, we kicked around Brielle. I had heard it before but pretty much everyone I mentioned it to asked if we made it up.
WDYT? Does it sound made up??

How do you define what is made up? When I think of made up names, I think of things like Nevaeh and such. I know a few people named Brielle, so I don't see how it could be cosidered made up.
If you look Brielle up, it is a Hebrew name meaning 'God is my might'
I guess all names were made up at one point or another!
Brielle is a shortening of the name Gabrielle. If you're worried about it sounding made-up, you can always name the baby Gabrielle, and just call her Brielle. Less worry about other people snubbing it
I'm a Jersey girl and I know exactly where that town is.. gotta love the Jersey shore! with that being said, I do like the name Brielle.. it doesn't sound made up to me! You can always name her Gabrielle and call her Brielle as a nn..
DH and I know a couple who named their daughter Abrielle (like Gabrielle without the "G"). I thought it sounded kind of made up, but later found it in a baby book. I like Brielle, though!

Yes.
"Get your kitchen sparkling clean with Brielle!"
It sounds like the end of the name Gabrielle to me.
It kind of reminds me of the recently popular name Adelyn, which is just the end of Madeline, or the name Adelie, which is just the end of Natalie.
Oh lord.
I can't wait for "Deline" and "Talie."
Yes, I honestly do think that it sounds madeup. If you chose a name like Brianna Elizabeth, you could have "Brielle" as a nickname.
(I am not pregnant and have no idea why my avatar shows a pregnant woman.)
How does this make it not a made-up name?
Kim from Real Housewives of Atlanta has a daughter named Brielle. Kim is such a train wreck. . . she kind of ruined the name for me. Sorryl

Bwaaaahaahaaaaa Thats exactly the first thing that popped into my head!
Where did you find this?? I am pretty sure Brielle is not Hebrew.
It's only Hebrew in the sense that Gabrielle is from the Hebrew Gavriela, and Brielle is merely a nickname for Gabrielle.
Yes, and very girly
Ahhh I see thanks.
By that logic, "Ry" is a Hebrew name meaning "bitter" because it's part of "Mary." ?
