Skinny shaming is bullshit. The people who complain about it just want people to notice how skinny they are and need attention.
I have a hard time with this one. I have a family member who is in her 30's and has been struggling with anorexia since childhood (she's a gymnast). Some of our older family members do nothing but shame her about it which isn't helpful.
Shame her about her eating disorder or weight? There is a huge difference
I think Black Friday is a joke. The prices are not that great to get your ass up at 2am to go shopping. Are there a few steals? sure, but you spend more money "seeing" other deals just walking through the door that you didn't need.
Yep it's a total joke. Kind of like Kohls year round.
I think it's ok to wear sneakers with jeans. For example, my New Balance sneakers with jeans and a hoodie in the morning when it's cold. I don't wear my sneakers with my leggings though
I think we should just stfu about people's weight in general. I don't comment on you needing to lose a few pounds still after baby, you don't comment how nice it must be to lose the weight so easily. Both have their pros and cons.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
I think it's perfectly acceptable to go to a store and spend your coupon and not a cent more. For example, I had a coupon for a few jar of spices at Penzy's and it drives my husband nuts that I have no problem getting my free spices and leaving. I feel no inclination to make an additional purchase if it's not required and I don't need something. I'll go back when I need something.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
Some people seem to think they have the market cornered on body issues. A person can be skinny and still be self conscious about parts of their body. When those parts are pointed out, the comments still hurt. However a person is not allowed to say anything because someone might have it worse, or it is considered bragging/seeking validation, and not a real issue. To the person who is self-conscious, it is a real issue, whether they are underweight, overweight, or average size. When anyone says anything negative about a persons weight/appearance, it is still hurtful and people are entitled to feel that hurt no matter their size.
Also, skinny shaming is absolutely WAY less prevalent than fat shaming. However, to completely deny its existence is ridiculous.
Disclaimer: These are just general statements applied to the average person who does not have a history of showing off their figure and then complaining about it, which is the vast majority of people.
You're a fool if you think you are ever getting a good deal at Kohls. Everyone knows they raise their prices to put shit on sale.
I don't think I'm getting a deal per say but I do like going back and spending my kohls cash. I have $10 that I intend to spend on a shirt for DD.
Yup, this. Also, it doesn't matter what the original prices are, if I can get $4 t-shirts and $6 shorts for DS to roll around in the mud in, then so be it.

oh I have no problem with people shopping at kohls as long as you don't hope there just for their "awesome sales" because those are a joke.
Maybe my UO should be that I enjoy Black Friday shopping. The crowds can be annoying, but DH and I get a babysitter every year and really enjoy going out together. We get some really great deals and get the majority of our Christmas shopping done.
We're not super crazy waiting in line or getting in fights. We try to wait until after the first big rush and last year we had TRU pretty much to ourselves.
I have never been black Friday shopping, ever. I can imagine my husband could think of 100 other things to do than go shopping. I can think of 100 things I'd rather do than clean.

My last sneakers I got there were Asics and I paid $32 dollars. I could not get those anywhere else for that price. Again, it's not 60% off BUT it is still cheaper.
It's like my grocery store. They have Buy 1 get 2 free weeks on food. There prices are jacked up so olive oil is $10 a bottle but I am getting 3 bottles for $10 and 3.34 a bottle is a great price for olive oil.
you do realize that a lot of those brands are items specifically made for that store right? So while the price is lower so is the quality compared to an ASIC you would buy at a running store.
I decided to try to stick to the want, need, wear, read Christmas thing...then I started convincing myself DD needed a trip to NY. So I now this it's a stupid idea too.

Exactly. I love the Jumping Bean brand for play clothes DS. They are cheaper than any other shorts/shirts I have found, and they take a beating.
There are times that Kohls is actually cheaper, you just have to know your prices. At Carters, the best deal you can get on in-season clothes is usually 50% off with a 20% coupon. Every once in awhile, you can get a 25% coupon. However, Kohls will have all Carters 50% off with a 30% coupon.
However, they are tricky. Sometimes a 20% off is better than a 30% depending on the in store price/sale. It is like a game for me to beat their system, and I get irrationally angry when I lose.
I think family only birthday parties for school age kid's are sad.
We do family only and friend only. My MIL does not want to come over here with half a dozen giggly girls. My nephew doesn't either for that matter, he is in the same class as DD in school too.

we do both too. I am pretty sure she is taking about doing only family.
I think using essential oils to treat a real life threatening medical condition is stupid and negligent. Thinking of the mom at whole foods treating her sons asthma with them and she "was having trouble controlling it" I think most essential oils are simply a placebo effect.

Are you sure? I see my same model sneaker (same color, name etc) for $40 at Olympia. I also still get the same manufacturer warranty. They seem to last me a couple years as well. I don't think spending an extra $8 at Olympia will do anything additional for me.
They also sell the original carters clothes and not the cheap knock offs that Target has.
their carters clothes are real. But you can get the same price at a carters store. A lot of thei other stuff is not the same quality. Your shoes might be, but a lot are not. This is one issue I have with Kohls people think they are getting such a great deal when in fact they are not. Disclaimer Dd used to wear jumping beans so I am fine shopping there I just always knew I wasn't getting so super awesome deal.

And the cheap knock-offs at Target actually turn out to be more expensive than using a bunch of coupons at Kohls.
Another UO: I think Target is way overpriced for the quality of their kids clothes. Sometimes I like their clothes, but once I see the price I pass it by because I can buy something similar with a much better quality for cheaper. I think I am doing it wrong because there is a lot of love for Target clothes for kids.
I think family only birthday parties for school age kid's are sad.
If the kid wants a school party I agree but not all kids do. Neither of my kids have wanted classroom parties. I have asked/offered. Little freaks
Same. I have offered to invite her classmates EVERY year since grade K (and have even encouraged it and told her how fun it would be) and she wants no part of it. She wants family and just a few closer friends from her class (so like 3-4 kids, maybe). That's it. I figure at her age she can decide, so I go with it. And she has a blast at her parties. She's more of a "best friend" girl vs having a ton of friends she's not as closer to her, so this is probably why. (I'm the same way). In general, however, I agree.

I don't think there is anything wrong with Tweens and teens having smart phones.
I don't have a problem with Tweens or teens having smart phones. I do have a problem with parents secretly monitoring their kids texts and message. I have a friend who goes through her DS's phone at night once he goes to bed. She has not told him she is doing it, and as far as I know, he has not done anything to warrant the snooping.
My problem is not with the monitoring, it is the the secrecy. Tell them up front that you are buying them a cell phone, and as long as you are paying the bills, you have a right to monitor their activity. Then everyone is on the same page and there is no violation of privacy.

I consider this a friend party not just family.
I guess it is. When K mentioned it, I just had entire classroom parties in my head as what she was referring to. In grade K she did have just 1 friend at her party.. her best friend. So it was 99% family. But again, she wanted that. She had a few more this past party.
@cjcouple- thanks! It's actually a bit of an older pic (like 6 months?), I should change it.

OMG yes! I have a friend who is very into oils. I've used a few and really liked how they worked for headache, colds, etc. mild stuff. But she was using oils on her dad who has cancer and was devastated when he started chemo. Really? You can't cure ducking cancer with oil! If you could why would people go through chemo/radiation!! Oh yeah, because of evil big pharma

But don't you think carters is just as bad as kohl's? It's the same freaking thing. Everything overpriced, everything always on sale, coupons all the time, etc. I mean, I still shop there but I rarely am getting a screaming deal - maybe if they have good stuff in clearance that's an extra 25% off. Usually it's just decent.
RE: Target - the carters line there isn't a "knock off" line, it's just a different line that carters makes. I haven't found the quality to differ much and when it's clearanced or even sometimes on sale it is often cheaper than carters in store.
yep but I still think kohls is the worst. The line at target is absolutely a knock off and the quality is not as good.
I'm not having a big birthday party for either boy this fall.
Plan one was to combine them since their birthdays are so close, but DH's travel schedule got more and more insane, and he is basically OOT five weeks between now and Thanksgiving, including weekends. That many weekends off the table, and all the other assort fall shit going on, and going away over Coloumbus Day, and it was never going to happen.
So Chuck E. Cheese with us and the grandparents it is.
My FFC I won't save until tomorrow -- I'm probably going to change the venue to Dave and Busters, because beer.
I think Chuck E Cheese serves beer, although I don't know what kind. I have never been to Dave and Busters, maybe they have more variety.

Obv, a doctor discussing medical issues is a different story. And I'm curious what the difference is between shaming someone for their weight vs shaming them for having an eating disorder.....like which one is OK?
If we're just going to talk about skinny shaming, clothes, and birthday parties all day, I am soooo out..... :P

I'm going to bet this is true. SIL works for target. Big companies have the power because of their large ordering to accomplish this.

Not in the greater Philadelphia area -- trust me I have visited them all! But they used to!
