If you've had a stubborn yeast infection

So I finished the round of Monistat 7 on Wednesday night, felt ok yesterday, but now tonight I'm itching and uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure the bastard isn't gone. :( I'm not going to bother the on call doc tonight, I'll call tomorrow, but I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this while pg and what did your doc say? Did you do another round of Monistat? Is there something else to take? This is the first yeast infection of my life and it's the freaking worst!!

  • Hair dryer makes me feel a million times better.

  • Had my first yeast infection with my DD and it lasted the whole pregnancy. I tried the 7 day monistat, probiotics, he even gave me 1 dose of the RX. Nothin worked and it definitely was a yeast infection because he tested everytime for it. My hubby and I stopped having sex because we were most likely passing it back and forth but that didn't help. I went through a lot of vagisil. But as soon as I gave birth it was gone. I haven't had one since. So to answer your question, I have no idea, you sound like I did. My doctor just said some people are unfortunate and get this lovely pregnancy issue.
  • Try soaking in a few inches of cool water. I know it hurts. You may see if your doc will give you a round of diflucan, or the generic, whichever you prefer; both are made exactly the same with the same ingredients. GSK just wants to get their monies worth for the brand name. If you have any monistat cream left, try using that on the areas where it itches. I would also do another round of Monistat 7 cream. If you remember from your first post about this, I told you mine took over two weeks to go away fully, and I had to do two rounds of the cream, plus the Diflucan.

  • Try som plain Greek yogurt down there. Seriously. And it's so soothing.

  • I had one a month or so ago, i tried to cure naturally (works for 9.5/10 usually) and it didnt work so i bought monistat 7. Still didnt work. Ended up having to take the diflucan.

  • I use two capsules of acidophilus as a vaginal suppository every evening for two weeks, and take two caps by mouth three times a day until I'm feeling better. You could probably benefit from taking two daily while pregnant, just to keep your flora balanced, or regularly eat unsweetened unflavored yogurt. And avoid yeasty foods, breads. And a drop of lavender oil in your undies has antibacterial benefits! (Can you tell I'm a nurse?) good luck! I know it can be miserable!!
  • Plain yogurt. Freeze into the fingers of a rubber glove to make suppositories. Doctor recommended magic.

I've done this. It works well for mild infections.

  • Thank you everyone!! Headed to the store this afternoon for everything I can get my hands on. Was on hold waiting for the on call doc for like 20 min before I gave up- whatever, it's not an emergency, I know what's going on. I'll call Monday. Hope they're picking up faster for the girls who are in labor though!!
