I need a shower so badly. My hair gets so greasy looking if I skip even one day. I have to go pick up my toddler soon and I am so embarassed that I am considering wetting my hair first so it looks like I just got out of the shower. Unless ofcourse I can dig up a cute hat!

Dry shampoo. It's the only way I can get through the week.

You may feel gross on the inside but you won't LOOK gross on the outside ;)

Thanks I actually have some but have been reluctant to use it because LO is always playing with and trying to eat me hair and I wasn't sure if it was safe. Clearly I am overthinking this.

  • I kept smelling baby barf on myself today, so I went into our closet and got a staff shirt. The only one was 4 sizes too big, and I'm wearing it and interviewing people. Pretty sure they think I'm a total slob.

  • I feel like it takes balls to name your kid for the all-father. I couldn't do it, I'd be waiting for him to lose an eye in some crazy accident and then never forgive myself. I might be nuts, but couldn't do it.
What? Like name your kid Jesus? I knew a couple Jesuses (Jesusi?, Jesus's?) in high school.
    Yeah, what does "all-father" mean?
The all-father is one of Odin's title. He's the one-eyed too. And there's a lot of suffering and bitter sacrifice in his mythology. He's just a grim, intense namesake. And I feel like naming is sort of wishing traits of the namesake for your child - that's a whole lotta weight to put on a baby.
@celticlullaby Oh god, I hope not! My son is Dorian.  =))

  • I really like the name Quinn, but DH has a perma-veto on any names from One Tree Hill. Boo.

My roommate from college and I loved One Tree Hill....in college we'd get drunk and use names from the show when we'd meet new people at the bar ( we were weird). I didn't realize until she pointed it out that we both used names from the show (she named her son Peyton and LO is Brooke). We tried to convince a friend who is expecting to name her daughter Haley...it didn't work!!

I just ate a whole bag of pirates booty white cheddar popcorn. I'm going to pay for this.

I ate a bag of rold gold cheese flavored pretzels (over 2 days but in two sittings)....I feel your food shame pain.
Add me to the food shame group. I've been eating peanut butter dipped in mini chocolate chips all week. So much for weight watchers!

I'm going to sound so cray cray - but it's like because that's how I think, for me it would be like wishing that on my baby - but not for other people, because you don't have that intent behind it. Idk, I'm not superstitious about other things, but I'm really weird about names and meanings. I totally encouraged you to go with Dorian, I love it! I just couldn't do it. I love the name Cassandra and I brought it up for a girl, but I just couldn't do it. I voted for it every time it was an option on someone's poll, though!
@celticlullaby I get it! It makes sense, I think I just consider it for a second and then throw it off because I care most about the sound of a name and how it rolls off the tongue. As a result, I end up with a lot of names like that on my "love it" list. I love the name Cassandra too. I would have considered it for a girl, except that I have a close cousin named Andra. I also like the name Ophelia.  X_X

  • There have been some kids come through my daycare that have taken the strange (to me) name cake...

Mars, Odin, Ares, Taryn, Ellis (who is a girl)

I went to kindergarten with a girl named Teryn. Always kind of liked the name, but better with an A, to me. :\">

We also have a nephew named Arlo.
Not names I would choose by any means, but once you're around the kid long enough you kind of just get used to them.

These are all good dog names.
Ha, we were discussing this with friends tonight.  LO's name is Margaret and we call her Mars for short sometimes.  Someone asked "how about Maggie?"  I said "No, because that's my uncle's Rottweiler's name."  :)

I have an Odin in my family and I think it is so awesome that his parents chose that name, but nonetheless I still wanna call him Odie like from the Garfield comic.

And my LO's daycare...well, it's in the hipster ground zero part of Portland so there are some seriously out-there names.
  • Wait wait wait. Whoa.

Did you change your name to joyTOmylife? Or am I just an idiot? I thought it was joyOFmylife and I always read joy of my latex.

Nope, it's always been joytomylifex. It was from a terrible boy band song but it's my go-to for everything. I'm considering just changing it to my name but well, lazy.
  • Regarding food shaming- no one should eat an entire bag of snack food (popcorn chips etc) in one sitting. It's like 8billion calories of unhealthy shit your putting in your body. No matter how delicious I didn't have any self control tonight which is why it was a confession. I have no ED no issues with weight it's just gross.
  • Every time I see you post, @joytomylifex‌, I think about The Other Guys. And I want to quote it all day with you.

Because it's the best movie ever?! Obviously. I'm going to respond to everything you post now with an Other Guys quote...

And that's fair, because nobody feels good after an entire bag of popcorn. And yhis certainly wasn't directed st you specifically, it's just there every FFFC, sometimes RTT, constantly on FB.

It hits extra close to home because one of my bffs (who has been hospitalized for EDs in her teens) just posted yesterday on FB a bare tummy pic "Hayyy, I did it, I lost 20lbs. I can haz ice cream now?".

Because while for some people that just sounds like she was temporarily cutting back on extra calories, she didn't feel she deserved to get treats, because 20 lbs ago she was disgusting and not worthy. So when I see people making frivolous comments food shaming, all I can think is that she takes those comments seriously.

So yeah, I might be reaching, and I'm sorry if anyone felt targeted but generally food confessions bother me.
Also because I like you all, and think you all deserve to enjoy ice-cream (and popcorn in moderation)!
  • I get how food shaming gets old and I actually thank you for the reminder. I guess I don't know what a healthy relationship with food is, either. But I keep plugging along. Change is hard.

@Vinny424 I know exactly the song you're talking about. My gay college BFF and roommate was obsessed with it, and would sing/play it while we got ready for work. He thought it was hilarious.
