"Tis the motto of many of the ladies on this board- and has been for myself for months. I just got of my weekly phone call with Dad and he started going on about alcohol while TTC and dangers from an very early point so I have done some research.
Background: My mom passed away when I was a teen and I am very close with my Dad. I was home for the first time in 18 months and was having issues with some new meds and thyroid (I was on super-steriods so I ate everything and puffed up). I also went to the states for 3 weeks without DH (no chance of conception) so I enjoyed my vacation with adult beverages when they were offered but didn't get ridiculous (no bikini tops and beads action). Dad knows I am TTC and have been for a while and have issues... he was also the lucky one who found me at 14 passed out on the tile floor from the pain of my first of many ovarian cyst bursts.
OK so my understanding is this: DRINK TILL ITS PINK BECAUSE- on a "typical cycle" you have 7-10 days from conception to implantation, then another 7-12 days until you share a blood stream with the embryo. Meaning on the short side if you made it to day 14 without POAS congrats to you but you should get a pink well before your actually sharing nutrients with the implanted embryo. Personally if I am DPO8 or higher and planing on going out I just POAS anyways... because they are Wondfos and they are cheap.ALSO- it was just FAS awareness day (maybe why the news stories)... I have had several students with FAS and am well aware of the possible consequences of this disease.
So I said I did some readings here they are:
Biomed Central (Peer Reviewed) article on mothers habits during pregnancy
For the non-scientists "The study, conducted in Ireland, included more than 60,000 pregnant women, who were interviewed approximately 10-12 weeks into their pregnancy. Their answers were compared with data from their baby’s birth record and to records from the hospital’s baby care unit. Only two women in 1,000 said they were heavy drinkers, meaning they drank more than 20 units per week. These women were most likely to be young and also to have used illegal drugs. While heavy drinking was related to very premature birth, the researchers did not find the amount of alcohol a woman drank and the occurrence of birth defects in her baby."
Decently researched and documented timeline
This somewhat crazy website
Media exposure due to FAS awareness day

What are your thoughts and does this new information/campaign make you think any differently?

I hope that made sense. 14 DPO and I am having a last tottie and cigarette (about one smoke every 2-3 days) before I test in the morning. If you have followed or seen my last two days you know why I needed this final.
In the end, you must do what you are comfortable with.
My H can't drink at all so I'm in the "drink till it's pink" . My feeling is that if you aren't binge drinking then you should be fine.
LFAF Summer 2016 Awards:
I'm currently trying to lose some weight and have restricted the drinking to two beers or two glasses of wine per day on the weekends only. I've already lost 11 pounds, but I crave the wine in the fridge downstairs.
So I guess I'm in the drink til it's pink, but drink lightly if I want it to turn pink.
