~*~*~* Weekly IVF/TTTC/2IF/Infertility grads check-in 9/9 *~*~*~

This check-in is meant for women who had a lot more trouble than most getting pregnant. You don't have to have done IVF to be part of the group, but we do want this limited to those who were diagnosed as infertile by an RE and were using some kind of medical assistance to get pregnant.

What's new with everyone this week? Symptoms to report? Scans? Appointments? Tell us everything!

QOTW: Will you find out the sex (gender if you must) of your baby/babies? If this isn't your first child, did you find out before?

I made my own life difficult by deciding to order us by EDD. Let me know what I messed up!

  • Hi!  I think my EDD is still 5/2.  U/S is two weeks away, so I'll let you know if it changes.  If they find 2 beans, I may be an April lady after all.

QOTW: We will definitely find out sex.  I'm a planner - I have to know these things ahead of time!

    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!
    Camila Josephine arrived 4/30 :)

  • QOTW: Yes, we will find out the sex of the baby this time around. Last time we found out at the 20 wk a/s but this time because I am over 35 I am hoping to find out earlier as I'm planning on taking one of the DNA blood tests next week. So excited to know!

Other than that things are good although still battling w/morning sickness. I've been eating such crap and feel guilty so it will be nice in 2nd tri to actually be able to enjoy a salad.

  • @pblge

thanks for running the check in!!!!  How are you doing this week?!?!

We have our first OB appt tomorrow.  We graduated from the RE friday and on our last U/S with them saw the baby moving around.  I will miss the weekly check ups and pictures, I know my mom will too.  I just realized that because of our due date they will be out here over Easter.  :)  I am probably going to ask my mom to stay for a few weeks and hopefully my dad will stay for at least one, but he can't take off too much time from where he works.

We will definately find out the sex of the baby.  I don't like surprises.  DH asked if I was sure I didn't want to be surprised, but I told him that no matter when they tell me I will still be surprised.  I know he wants to get started on the nursery and painting it at least, but until I know the sex, I'm not picking out colors. since I am 35 I will find out if we have to do one of the blood tests, if we do I will be excited to find out early.

    All Welcome

  • Hi! I'd love to be added to this group . After 6 months with our RE (unexplained IF), we conceived with the help of Folistim. My due date was originally 4/28, but we Just found out last week that we're expecting twins!!! We saw two little beans and heard two heart beats (121 each). Go back tomorrow for another u/s, praying for signs of healthy growth!
  • Yes I found out with my last 2 and plan to find out with these twins also... I still can't believe it's twins... Somebody wake me up!! Hope u r all doing well xxx
  • EDD 4/30 :)   Had a measurement yesterday

Yesterday was graduation day from our RE's office.   Had a scan yesterday and we have a strong heartbeat!!   129 bpm!
    :x

I can't even deal with myself today I am so excited!

Symptoms:  pretty severe ms, although dare I say its better today.   I have been barely keeping anything down,  including water.    Took a 1/2 day off of work to try and recoup a bit,  Dr. said I may need to go in for fluids if I can at least keep water down consistently.  Today is a better day!

QOTW:  Yes,  we will be finding out the sex of the baby!   I am far too much of a planner to wait until baby's birthday to find out!

Looking forward to reading everyone's updates!

  • I hate to rain on parades, and I am so happy that things are looking good for you ladies!! I sincerely hope that the rest of your pregnancies are uneventful, and that things will move smoothly right up to delivery. :)

I had my final U/S today for this pregnancy. Showed that our bean's heart was no longer beating, and growth had stopped at 8 weeks even. I don't even know how to feel. I had been guarding my heart against this happening, while still feeling pg and really hoping that was a great sign! I don't think I have fully processed yet, and may not for a while. I have my D&C scheduled for Thursday.

I just feel really lucky to have gotten this far. I had never in my life been pregnant before, so the fact that it happened feels like an unreal blessing. But I'm also heartbroken that I wont get to bring my bean home. My heart was set on fighting it out and meeting her.

I might be down, but I'm not out! We have 5 frozen embies, and I have to prepare myself to give them a try. Wish me Luck!!

I'm so glad for the time that I had here on the other side. I hope never to see any of you back in IF land, unless you are trying for another.

Best of luck to all of you!! :x
  • I'd like to be added. We've been trying for three years. With our recent move we opted to go to a new clinic and the RE said we needed to do IVF as our best option given other failed treatments but we needed my meds approved through insurance first. They told us an intercourse cycle wouldn't work but to do it and get my meds in. Well it worked!

I'm scared to death and I'm now 9 weeks, 3 days. My last ultrasound was 8 weeks and 5 days and everything was fine with a HB of 181. I get released from my RE the 15th and see the OB the 16th.

@Sha259‌ I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know the heartbreak.

QOTW - Yes, we want to find out!

  • I'm actually due 4/13.  :)  Not that a day makes much of a difference.  I have to be induced at least a week early anyway so I can be off of my blood thinners.

I had a U/S last week and all is well.  Heart beat is 174.  I graduated from my IF doctor and start with the real OB on friday!  I'm over 35 so I'm hoping for a harmony test or something similar very soon.

I didn't find out the sex of DD until she was delivered.  DH is dead set on not finding out this time as well.  I haven't decided if I'm going to sneak a peek when the time comes though.

  • Yes we will find out the sex. Also my DD is April 6 (it said 9 up thar^) ;)

I've been debating on switching OBs and hospitals. There are a lot of options in my area and all the maternity wards sound nice. I feel like this is a big decision so I have a lot of anxiety about what to do.

I'm 10 weeks and next appt is at 12 and I'm scared about not finding a HB. Last time I went in at 8 they couldn't find it with Doppler and did an US. I thought I was going to get bad news. The US showed a HB. The OB shouldn't have freaked me out bc now I'm scared of the Doppler when I go back.

@sha259 I am so sorry to hear your news. This is such a crazy ride. There are no words. Hugs sister.
  • I would like to be added as well. My husband and I have been diagnosed with unexplained secondary infertility. We TTC naturally for 1.5 years and then moves on to an IUI and finally IVF this summer. Altogether our journey to this point has been about 2.5 years. My Est due date is 4/18 which makes me 8.5 weeks. Last US was 9/3. We showed 2 babies but only one looks viable so it seems we have one that will "vanish." Such bittersweet news. We are so thrilled that Baby A looks to be healthy but so sad knowing that at tomorrow's US Baby B will most likely be gone. What a ride this has been. T&P to all of you and your babies.

  • Sha259 -- Oh I am so heartbroken for you :( so sorry for your loss hun.  I am glad you are so optimistic and have plenty of frosties to keep the process going.  GL and FX for you...I'll be thinking of you on Thursday for your procedure.

@Grailseeker14 --yay for a good report!  It's seeing the heartbeat just the best thing in the world?  I could watch it all day!

@snedge -- I was just thinking the other day how sometimes my brain just doesn't let me be full on happy about this.  After losses and IF, it's still hard to believe that this is really happening.  Glad to hear things are going good for you though!

I went for my 8w3d u/s today and have officially graduated from my RE!!  Saw my little bean ( which I have nicknames gummy bear since that is exactly what my u/s pic looks like lol ) and saw the hb again.  Finally got a rate -- 157 -- so I'm happy with that!

We will have our first appt. with my OB a week from today, and I am allowed to stop sticking myself in the @$$ at 9 weeks!

QOTW - Oh hell yes...and I laugh whenever someone asks me that question.  I am such a control freak, there's no way I could hold on...not to mention that I hate surprises.

  • I don't have much to update on. Our first midwife appointment isn't until Friday. I'm still having some pretty bad morning sickness...which sucks! Its making it really hard to function!

We absolutely will find out the sex. I am already getting super impatient for it. I can see how fun it would be to be team green but I am such a control freak...I just need to know! We will most likely go get an elective ultrasound at 16 weeks to find out. We found out at 16 weeks our last pregnancy too. But that time since it was twins we were having ultrasounds at every appointment, so I didn't have to go get an elective one.

  • @sha259 - so sorry for your loss.

Friday (9/5) we had another u/s (8w) and saw two strong heatbeats (162 and 170).  Hubs is freaking out about buying a new car, maybe a new house, possibly relocating while I'm just trying to keep my lunch down.  I've had a good bit of nausea, which has resulted in a lot of retching, but no actual vomiting yet.  Lovely.  We have our first OB appointment on Friday.  The best news of all - TODAY IS MY LAST PIO SHOT!!!! YAY!  Moving exclusively to the suppositories.

QOTW: We most definitely will be finding out the genders.  I'm WAY too much of a control freak not to.  We found out with DS as well.

  • Hello, I'm 6w6d today, EDD 4/29, but possibly earlier, because of the twins.

I had my 2nd u/s today, and since DH didn't need to go up to NYC today, he came along. I'm happy to report that both fetal poles are measuring on time, and we saw both heartbeats today. The RE said they were 140 bpm which sounded fast to me (something new to google and obsess over) - but he did not seem concerned with the rate.
The only shadow on this appointment was a blood clot that the RE spotted under one sac.  He said we'll keep an eye on it - it might just go away on its own, but I shouldn't be too worried about it now.  Did anyone else have a blood clot like this early on?  Has it had any effect on your pregnancy?

Hey everyone. I don't know if I missed the last few of these, but wanted to check in, too.

My EDD is 4/6. Currently 10w1d. Had my last u/s with my RE on friday. Everything was perfect and we got to see our Lil bean moving. So amazing! We are waiting for our first appointment with the OB on the 24th, and gearing up for Panorama Test next week.

I'm feeling pretty good. Nausea isn't happening as frequently, and is still mostly in the evenings, which makes work a little easier. Major food aversions. Bloating is starting to go down a bit, although my normal clothes still don't fit. So happy to be weening off of the hormone supplements. Stopped all the estrogen as of yesterday, and will be off the progesterone by the end of the weekend.

@AMShark‌ I had a small clot, subchorionic hematoma at about the same time as you, at my 6w2d u/s. Dr wasn't too concerned about it, and it was gone the following week. GL!

QOTW: DEFINITELY finding out sex. I'm way too impatient not to

  • @pblge‌ my EDD is April 4th and yes with twins!

I have been released from my RE and stop all injections tomorrow (progesterone and estrogen). I'm nervous about stopping but so exited as my bottom is super sore and bruised! We will have done 96 injections for this IVF cycle but are getting 2 miracles out of it!

Meet my new OB in 6 days. I'm feeling extremely nauseated daily between 7-9 am and 2-8 pm, but no actual sickness yet!! Still really tired - takes everything I have to make it through the day teaching 21 lil babies.

yes we will find out the sex of the babies!! Can't wait for that day!!
  • @Sha259 - ((Hugs)) I'm so, so sorry.  Even if you think you are prepared for a loss, it is still so hard to take.  Don't be afraid to take the time to mourn your loss - and be sure to let your OH mourn the loss as well.

@Searchele98 - Thanks for sharing about your blood clot.  I hope mine resolves itself just as easily.

  • Need to get up and go meet a friend, but I'll give my update for the moment. I had my first obgyn appt today, which was very weird--long post on SAIF, and I'll probably be switching. Got to see the bambino briefly on a mini-u/s (looked like an ipad), and all looked well. I have what should be my LAST RE appt on Thursday, which I'm excited about. Very curious to see what my progesterone is doing now that they have me down to 0.5 mls a day.

QOTW: Haven't decided. I know there's a 75% chance of boy based on what we transferred (one male embryo, one I'm not sure), and I may just stick with that. I used to be determined to be team green, but that was before it was such a battle to get pregnant. It's very interesting to me that every single person so far here says they'll find out!

  • @pblge thank you so much for doing this...Love this group! my EDD is 13th April. (My Moms Bday who passed away when i was 14) So its a really special day, I feel like she had a little hand in helping this little bean stick.
  • What's new with everyone this week? Im feeling really good, i've been scared, nervous, worried for the last few weeks, we have waited so long and had many falls along the way. This week i'm starting to see us holding our little baby.
Symptoms to report? MS is kicking my butt!!! I don't want to complain, i'm just enjoying that i'm even in this position. Super tired, working a fall day is something i'm struggling with right now.  Scans? I had my 9 week scan today, My DH said the baby looks just like a gummy bear, I graduated from my RE, it was sad, they have taken such good care of us. Although a day I wanted to see happen.
Appointments? 16th i will meet my OB for the first time, and also take the DNA test, Im a little nervous for the genetic test.
QOTW: Will you find out the sex (gender if you must) of your baby/babies? If this isn't your first child, did you find out before? YES YES YES!!!!!!!! We will find out with our DNA test, I want to plan ahead, and also to excited not to know. With my first we waited, with my 2nd we found out, so again we want to know.
Sha259 im so sorry to hear about your loss, my thoughts are with you. HUGS
  • I am 7 weeks and 3 days. My first ultrasound is a week from thursday. I can't wait! We will def find out what were having. As for syptoms, I have extreme bloating from progestrone and have some abbreviated MS. Good luck to all!
  • @Sha259‌ sorry for your loss :(
I have my first OB appt tomorrow after being release by my RE. I had a light bleed on Sunday so I'm slightly worried, however my doctor told me not to worry unless it starts up again or I get cramping. He will be organising another scan for next week and also the harmony test (NIPT test is its name in Australia). So I'm hoping everything is still going well and the light bleed was just from too much activity over the weekend.
We will be asking for the gender, hubby wants a boy however all I want is a healthy baby :)

Baby is officially measuring where I thought he or she should be! So I am 9w3d. Baby looks great with 169 HB. One major concern: I have a gigantic endometrial cyst. They're worried that as my uterus expands, it will turn the ovary completely and I would ultimately have to have surgery to remove the ovary.

QOTW: I know I will find out the sex, but part of me wishes I was the sort of person disciplined enough for team green.
  • @pblge‌ thanks for running this check-in. I am 7w, 2d today with my first ultrasound tomorrow. Eeek, so nervous! Some of my symptoms (sore boobs, mild nausea) have lessened. I still have some picky food aversions though, can't make it through the night without getting up to pee, am fairly irritable and I am hungry. All. The. Time.

QOTW: yes, we are going to find out the sex. Looking forward to that. Does anyone in Canada know if the 'Harmony' test I keep reading about is common practice here? I've never heard of it before.

  • @Sha259‌ I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Looks like I'm the first one to be team green! We decided that since we've known every little detail of the conception process, we'd like something to be a surprise. Today was not ideal - I was in the ER all freaking day due to severe shortness of breath. Ruled out blood clots, but they also weren't seeing any asthma symptoms. Left with a prescription for Prednisone that I'm afraid to take, because who knows if it will even work. Frustrating. However, we did get to see the baby, so that was a lovely unexpected surprise.

  • Update: I haven't bled in a few days now, which is good. My symptoms have been waxing and waning which makes me nervous, but I keep trying to tell myself that when I feel good I shouldn't try borrowing trouble. I am having a difficult time with my 14-month-old in that I feel super guilty my energy level is so low and I haven't been spending as much qt with her and I think she sees that and is acting out a little to get my attention. DH just left for a conference in London so it's just the two of us right now. I am planning on going for another ultrasound tomorrow.

QOTW: Yes, we'll definitely find out. I don't have the patience to wait :)

  • Okay, folks, I won't have a lot of time in the next few days, so this is my only window! I think I fixed all the dates up above, but please let me know if I haven't. I'm wondering if the vanishing twins should be in the angels list, or have their own category? I think we've had a few now. :(

@snegde - I hear you! It's hard to stop the PAIF/PgAL brain from running amok sometimes. Hope it calmed down. Good luck next week!!

@nycitygirl1 - I miss salads! Used to eat lots of veggies, but it's just too gross now. I hope those taste much better soon!

@Alicia_R1 - Hope the OB appt went well! Sounds like great timing for the due date!

    @hmbb2300 - Welcome and congratulations!

@CaterinaC - So glad you're sticking around with us!!! Do you know when your RE will decide all is well?

@Hpearl - Congrats on graduating! Hope the MS eases up, that sounds terrible. Have you tried the meds?

    @jlb902 - I don't think I knew you had a DD! :-/ Sorry you can't do the Harmony test. :(

@amacksta14 - Welcome! Congrats on your pre-IVF miracle!

@GrailSeeker14 - Very jealous of your OB--he sounds amazing!

@topaz7777 - Oooh, a team green dilemma! Do you think you'd be able to keep it a secret? My friend is in the same position, only reversed. They haven't figured out what to do about it.

@KylesBride - Picking an OB is HARD! I thought I had the decision made, but not so much after the first visit. And I panic every time they look for the heartbeat, too. ((hugs))

@keifekm - Welcome and good luck!

@jszy10 - Congrats on graduating and being almost done with the PIO! Jealous, but hopefully I'm not far behind you.

  • Ooops, posted too soon, so I guess I'll just keep going in a new post:

@Lyndsey13 - Hope the MS eases soon. ((hugs))

@yarnymommy - Congrats on the two heartbeats and being done with the shots! Sounds like your OH is really panicking, and I don't blame him. Twins would be a lot, but hopefully he'll calm down soon.

@AMShark - Hope the clot resolves itself soon. Is that the same as an SCH? I'm so confused by all this stuff.

    @Seachele98 - Welcome and congratulations!

@teambabystone - 96 is a lot of injections! No wonder you're happy to be done! Hope the nausea eases.

@taahira - So sorry about your mom. It would be very sweet if your LO could be born that day. Hope your MS eases, too!

@kyliehopeful - Hope the bleed resolved itself, and that you can get the NIPT!

@acrozter - Sorry about the cyst. That sounds scary! Might it resolve on its own? Glad the LO still looks great!

@Canuck13 - Come back and tell us how your u/s went today!!!

@KellyA724 - Yay, a team green! But yikes for the shortness of breath! Hope all is well. Have you taken the prednisone?

@blueberries8 - Glad the bleeding has eased, and I definitely understand about the waxing and waning symptoms! Scary, right? I have no words of wisdom on being pregnant with a toddler, so I'll let others speak to that. ;-)

Hope everyone is doing great today!!

I don't really know.  (The amount that I don't know about PG amazes me on a daily basis).

So, I just looked up SCH (subchrorionic hematoma, right?), and the 7w u/s pics look a lot like what I saw yesterday.  I also found a frightening little article about SCH and MC that made me search my desk for a paper bag in which to begin my shallow, rapid breaths.

I remember when I liked Google.  barely.
