Re: Anyone chosen their names yet?

  • Dh and I are obsessed with the name Elise and the middle name would be Mieko (my gma passed away last nov from breast cancer and she was 100% japanese) boy names we are sol....I like Jameson but my ds is named Evan William (I guess it's a bourbon whiskey. This was literally the ONLY name we could agree on) so he thinks people will think we are alcoholics lol.

We have decided on Emma Blixt (Blixt is my grandmother's maiden name) for a girl, and Camden Robert (family name) for a boy.

We are still throwing around a few other options but those are our top choices.

I loved the name Camden!! Do you think it's weird if there is already a boy my son goes to daycare with named Camden if I name this new baby Camden?

Mie is one of my favorite Japanese names! Which kanji would you use? I've always been fond of 美恵.

  • Awe I'm so glad others are into having mns from family with different cultures! My dh thinks it is "different" but his mn is templeton (mil maiden name) but all I could think was "like the rat from charlottes web?!" I never Even thought of kanji? I really need to look into this
  • For a girl, yes we are between two names: Caliann Renee or Aria Renee.  For a boy we already used our favorite on DS, but my DH likes Brantley...I'm not too fond, yet.
PPD/PPA Mom...it has been super hard, but I'm making it! Slow steps...
Mom to Carter (6), and Calianne (1).
Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!

  • For a boy Levi Wayne (Wayne is both of our grandfathers middle names and my FIL middle name and my Hubby's middle name!)

For a girl I like Elaina Grace. My husband likes Elaina but doesn't agree with the mn. So still trying to come up with a mn that he likes!

We have decided for a boy Wyatt with middle name possibly Dean. Wyatt is just a name we liked and have had decided for ever, the middle name was James, but we have a lot of new babies in the family that already have that, so it might be Dean in honor of my dad's dad. Both he and my dad have now passed. For a girl Elsie Rae. Elsie was my great great aunts name who had a lot to do with the raising of my mamaw. I immediately loved it when I heard it and so did my husband. The way my mamaw's face lights up when she talks about aunt Elsie is so sweet. Plus Rae is after my husbands father. * we understand people really love the name Elsie or they say it sounds like a cow. I have a dog named Josie and many people name their child that. We love the name and can both agree on the name. Negative remarks can be said, heck it is a free country, but it isn't going to change our minds.
I really only dislike the name Elsie because when people misread my name they pronounce it as Elsie. I'm sick of it for that reason. If you like it, go for it. But you're right, you will get a knee jerk from some people with the cow thing.

  • For a girl we have chosen kenzi rose Woodard and if it's a boy it will be davin Loki Woodard :)) can't wait til week 20 when we get to find out!!!! So exciting!
  • This content has been removed.
  • Jakob Stanley if its a boy (both our grandpa's names) and Eva Maria if its a girl.  So excited to find out in a month!
  • I think we are going with Valentina Marie for a girl.  DH's middle name is Valentine (He's a junior and his dad was born on 2/14).  Marie is my middle name and also in honor of my grandmother, named Mary.  Boy is still undecided!  We like Luca and Marcello (Marco for short).

  • I found this link about naming girls boys names...(cough going Allyn cough cough)

    https://www.buzzfeed.com/robynwilder/youre-pretty-for-a-boy
  • Girl Allison or Alice

Boy: No freaking clue but I like Aidan, Miles, Elias and Lincoln so I can call him Link XD
  • Emma Grace for a girl and Noah Thomas for a boy.
Cannot wait to find out :):):)
  • We seem pretty settled on Ari, although the middle is undecided. Leaning toward David, which is a family name on my side. For a girl, we like Alice, Miriam and Clara. No discussion yet on middle. I also LOVE Noa, which is a legitimate Hebrew girl's name and is very popular in Israel, but here would be mistaken for feminizing of the boy's name, which I couldn't handle. Ari is going to be out there enough for my non-Jewish side of the family. We aren't sharing the name with family/friends until little one is here to cut down on comments.
  • We are also team green, but we have several we've been batting around. DD is Stella Corinne. I've been in love with that middle name since I first heard it in 8th grade! We will wind up with some combo of the following for a girl: Ruby (DH's adorable grandmother's name) Athena Celest I love Edith as a MN, DH is unsure teven though It's a family name for us both. Considered several S names, but only like one so far, which already belongs to my niece (and namesake) Sadie Elizabeth. I LOVE Ruby Celeste, but apparently it is a book character/ I'd definitely want to read it first. Athena Ruby is also a contender. For a boy, we will most likely go with Pridemore as a middle name. It is a family name on my side. First name options so far: Sam (my grandfather's MN) Marshall (DH's grandfather) Solomon H is stil pushing for Xavier but I consider it out. Marshall is also a MN option, but we have a strong L in the last name. I'd never heard of it being bad luck to name a baby after the living or deceased, and I do plan to talk with DH's grandmother prior to giving our baby the name Ruby. I just really love his grandma, she has such a radiant and wonderful personality... and the only female family name DH & I agree on.
Ruby is high up on our list too, I wonder if it's going to get popular?

I think at some point all the "old" names become popular again. It's like an 80-year cycle. My grandmother was a Ruby and had a few friends, also named Ruby. I adore the name. I don't know of many little Ruby's yet, but hope it makes a comeback. I have met quite a few under age 2 Edith's this year.
Edith may be coming from Downton Abbey. Not that Edith is a "trendy" name but with the popularity of that show I wouldn't be surprised if any of the names became more popular. Isn't that usually how it goes?

  • Miranda Lyn if it's a girl and Justin Michael if it's a boy
  • The only name I am even considering right now is Peyton but it can work for girl or boy. Hopefully I won't be that mom bringing a nameless baby in the world (not that there is anything wrong with that) just so many other things to think about
  • Penelope Rose for a girl. Charles Henry or Arthur Henry for a boy. I also like the name Conan. So we decided if we found out we were having twin boys, we would have Arthur and Conan.
If you have male triplets will you please name the third one Doyle?
I had the exact same thought!!

Um really? I was "that mom" with my daughter and it wasn't for lack of caring about her name, quite the opposite, I cared so much that I wanted it to be perfect for her. I didn't bring a nameless baby in the world. You may not have meant it the way I took it but if that's the case your wording really sucks.

  • We are set for a boy, Joesph Michael both of wich are family names! (Well Joseph for Jose) and we keep going back and forth about girls names! Honestly I feel that it's a boy! But for girls I really like, Lucy, Elizabeth, Jessica, Sadie, Nora. The list goes on and on!

She did say that there wasn't anything wrong with that, just that she was hoping to avoid it. No reason for a flip out
See bolded. It seemed to come across as a jab at people who don't have a specific name picked before their child is born. It's not like it's some curse that needs avoiding. I was actually fairly calm, I didn't even bash the name she likes ;)

  • Quick question for anyone who cares to answer: which do you prefer as far as spelling goes, Sean or Shawn?? I like the former but DH is into the latter so I'd like other opinions to help

  • @estamos_tomamos No, I'm not. I certainly wasn't "flipping out" by any means. But someone saying they don't want to be "that mom bringing a nameless baby in the world" came across as slightly insulting, so I shared my opinion about her wording. That's not exactly an uncommon thing to do around here. Not sure why that would be considered overreacting but you're entitled to your opinion just like I am.

  • @kellbell1982‌ I much prefer it spelled Shawn. I don't really have a reason, just a personal preference. I guess when I see Sean I always think it should be pronounced like "seen"

  • @ToasterCat I saw Ruby on the top ten most popular girls names of 2014. So I would say that's a yes to the popular. I do love the name Ruby though! So nice :)
  • For a girl we like Sophie Ann or Sophie Rose. Ann (my middle name) Rose (DH grandmother's name).

For a boy we are pretty set on William but no middle name yet. DH wants to do Ronald after his dad since DS's middle name is Joseph after my dad. I'm not crazy about it, we will see!

My son's name is William Benjamin!
  • We like Violet Mae or Amelia Josephine for a girl. We agreed on them almost instantly - it was so easy! We are having a harder time with boys names but our top two are Ewan Joseph and Benjamin Charles.

  • We're pretty set on Hudson for a boy... for a girl we both really like Piper but DH has recently decided that he is in love with the name Tahlia which is cute but I'm not 100% sold on that yet.  You all have some super cute names though!

My Irish husband is Shawn. His parents purposefully went with the phonetic version because hey! It was the 70's! I prefer the traditional spelling Sean. But either way works, it's not like you're going overboard and trying Shwayne or something.
  • @ToasterCat‌ If you love it, definitely use it! Its a beautiful name :D

I like Sean. However, on Boy Meets World, it's Shawn Hunter. So that might be reason enough to go with DH if you grew up in the '90s :)
