How to gain the weight?

Alright I just came back from my second appt, I noticed that my nurse punching in my weight at 166lbs when I started this pregnancy at 176, I was just wondering what some of you guys did or are doing to help gain the weight.

  • eat the food

Those were going to be my exact words.

  • Eat what you can, wear sea bands to help with nausea, stay hydrated. But seriously though, find something you can stomach.
  • It is completely normal to lose weight in the beginning. If your doctor didn't tell you to do things different than don't worry. My first pregnancy I lost almost 20 pounds in the first 20 weeks. Just eat like you are supposed to and drink lots of water. You should be eating an extra 300 calories a day. Just be sure they are good healthy things.
  • I agree. Eat the food.

That said, my Mom is a dietician and for her patients who need to put weight on, she recommends drinking Ensure (or liquid meal supplement of that sort) between meals.

But really, don't worry unless your OB is. My guess is you'll put on plenty of weight in upcoming months. It's not a bad thing to have a reason to go for that extra scoop of ice cream. :-)

  • What did your doctor say?
  • Eat, but really I would be surprised if your doctor even cared about that weightloss. Typically the only ones they are worried about losing weight are the ones under 20-23% body fat to begin with. As long as you aren't dizzy or starving yourself you should be fine.
  • @peledreamsofrain I love your gif!  I wish someone would rub my  head like that or that I could simply have the same look/feeling of relaxation as that owl.
  • From the last time I weighed myself at the gym 2 months ago to my last appointment last week, I lost 14 lbs. I won't be surprised I lost some more since I'm eating so little. I could only stomach so little nowadays. But I'm not too worried. I was worried that the pregnancy weight adding onto my initial weight would start hurting my joints! So I'm glad I lost some! Positive thinking!

to gain "the" weight, you could simply only eat grilled cheese sandwiches for every meal, like I have been

  • Is this a real question? These will be the same girls come third trimester freaking out about how much they have gained and fretting about how to lose it. Now, I need to go make my Mac and Cheese!
  • Everyone I'm not trying to brag I eat a metric shit ton and I was just concerned I'm sorry if that pisses people off.
  • And again OP is rubbing it in our faces lol

Not to be mean (because I am far from thin myself) but until you are flirting with the 120-125 mark, and unless you are feeling malnourished or lightheaded, there is really no need to worry. Your body gives nutrients to the baby first, so as long as you feel fine, he or she is definitely fine.
  • I don't think anyone is offended. It's just a stupid question.
