I think Charles/ Charlie is so cute. My h loves it too but it was the name of my childhood cat growing up so I just can't name my baby that. I met a really cute baby named Charlie a few weeks ago and that made me reconsider it as a name.

For a girl I was immediately in love with Natalia but I'm not feeling it so much anymore. My DH and I decided with my dd and any other possible subsequent kids would have an E for a middle name.

My initials are AEG, DH is DEG, DD is REG. So you see my predicament?! Lol.

Feel free to throw out some E girl names for me.

I think Ruby is super cute actually. And it seems to be making a resurgence so has a less old fashioned stigma. To me Walter does seem really old fashioned, but Calvin could work for a younger generation IMO.

I definitely don't find these too old fashioned at all! Perhaps Eleanor, but with the nn Ellie it's not too old fashioned. I also have a friend who just named her son Calvin (nn Cal) and it's adorable on him!

Just curious- do you guys think the name Lisa is outdated??

There are so many good names... my cousin just had her DD and named her Emery Pearl- I love it so much!

I think my favorites at the moment are Daniel Carter and Hailey Grace. H hasn't made his list yet (we agreed on making lists and comparing them). I just get so excited thinking about it, even though I know there's still a lot of time!

@Krista528‌ I think Ruby is pretty and doesn't sound old fashioned to me. We are also thinking of Eleanor - after my grandmother. I admit it sounds old fashioned to me but it is becoming very popular again, and my grandmother said she has always loved her name. I don't think you can go wrong with your choices!

If it's a boy, he will carry on the family name. He'll be a James.

If it's a girl, we're liking Elizabeth. Though I recently took a liking to Charlotte. Still need a little work on the girl name.

Oops, nope, you can't dictate how people respond on the internet. Just because it isn't the BNB doesn't mean people won't give honest feedback and say what everyone else will say behind the kid's and parents' back their whole lives...maybe we can save poor Allyn the grief of having a ridiculously spelled boy's name for life.

Also, no, I wouldn't get bent out of shape by someone reacting like this to a name I chose. If enough people felt this way (look at the love tits on my and @janda426‌ 's posts) I'd seriously reconsider my choice. But since I choose properly spelled names, that aren't too trendy, made up, or yoonique, that have a history, and are for the sex they were intended for, if anyone dislikes the names I choose, it is a matter of personal preference, not because I made a stupid or uneducated decision.
My kids have completely normally spelled, heard-of, gender appropriate names, so I have no horse in this race.

I just find the overly critical and opintionated responses to a post where someone was not asking for feedback to be extremely rude. I wouldn't bash a friend's name choice to her face, not would I do it here unless someone was specifically asking for my opinion.

You can defend your right to be snarky all you want, that's your prerogative- it's just not my thing and I don't think it's necessary to beat this girl up about her choice.

I think I made it pretty clear as to why I think it IS appropriate for me to give my opinion in this situation and I'm 100% certain it has nothing to do with being snarky. But ok, you go ahead and think what you want to think.
Also, she isn't my IRL BFF, I'm a random internet stranger, so I'll tell her what her IRL BFF is thinking but not saying. This is what is so great about this situation, she can see how many people think it is awful and realize everyone IRL is thinking that too and just mayyybe that means it is a bad choice. And actually I certainly would try to talk an actual friend out of such a horrible disservice to their child.

My criteria: no unisex names, nothing too common/popular, no misspellings or arbitrary Ys, has to be easy to pronounce in English and Spanish, and has to look good on a resume (someday). I like them! I would pick Leo Thomas over Andres but both are very nice. Lisette is gorgeous!

Thanks! Thomas is my first choice, but I'll give my H final call since I've been so pushy about the first names. Lisette was a compromise--it's very popular in his country, but not even in the top 1000 here (I don't think), but still easy to pronounce, so it works for both of us!

For a boy, we're set on Murphy James, which is each of my grandfathers' first names. I know a lot of people say "but, but Murphy is a dog's name!" Idgaf. It was a people name first and I fucking love it.

For a girl, our front runner is Caroline Mae, but it could change. I love it, but am a little nervous about Caroline becoming super popular, and that would definitely bother me.

Emery is basically our top contender. I didn't list it because it's a "masculine" name originally. And I didn't want another Allyn situation. But it's a beautiful E name!

I agree! I think if anything, it's both, but I love it for a girl.

At the end of the day you can't change someone's mind. If you who think my name choice is wrong and actually took the time to use Google you would see how many people actually like or suggest the name Allyn. If you don't like the name move on but your opinion was not needed nor necessary. I was taught that if I can not say something nice not to speak at all. This is the last I will say on this

I googled it earlier because I had never seen that spelling before and was curious. I learned that it's primarily a male name - yes, even spelled with a y.

The spelling of my name is completely made up. And I absolutely love my name(Kaidi). Although I wouldn't go that creative on my children. But my son is Jayson Michael. Our picks for #2 so far are:
Boy: Kalvin Lloyd, Henry Lloyd
Girl: Amelya Eleanor

(Middle names are my great grandparents first names)

DH won't talk to me about names until we know the sex lol but my favorites as of this morning...
Girl: Berkeley, Tinley, Sawyer (no clue on MN)
Boy: Beckett, Graycen, Parker, Carson
We know the MN will be Emmett, so Beckett will probably be out.

I have a list of about 50 names, so the top spots change. Those have been up there for a while now though.

@Lolagirl2012‌... We had Amelia in our top spot if my son was a girl back in 2011... My husband cannot get over the name. It's the only one he likes and I just feel it's getting too popular and think we can come up with something else! He's set on the name and isn't willing to talk about anything else just yet. I'm waiting to find out the gender before really starting to fuss. I still love the name but am not IN LOVE with the name. My top picks: If it's a girl: Bria and Lucca If it's a boy: Zander, Sawyer, Spencer, or Wilson

But Morgan has a long, long history of being a first name. King Arthur's sister was Morgen. It's an old Celtic name, traditionally male (though not always, obv.)

I see where you are coming from, but you lose me at the "Morgan" part. I know quite a few Morgans? I always thought of it as a first name

I know morgan is totally a first name and thats how I always recognised it. But its my married name and this thread just drove the point home to me haha

We have decided for a boy Wyatt with middle name possibly Dean. Wyatt is just a name we liked and have had decided for ever, the middle name was James, but we have a lot of new babies in the family that already have that, so it might be Dean in honor of my dad's dad. Both he and my dad have now passed.

For a girl Elsie Rae. Elsie was my great great aunts name who had a lot to do with the raising of my mamaw. I immediately loved it when I heard it and so did my husband. The way my mamaw's face lights up when she talks about aunt Elsie is so sweet. Plus Rae is after my husbands father.
* we understand people really love the name Elsie or they say it sounds like a cow. I have a dog named Josie and many people name their child that. We love the name and can both agree on the name. Negative remarks can be said, heck it is a free country, but it isn't going to change our minds.

My kids all have state names. So if I have a boy his name will be Nevada if it's a girl, California. I already have Dakota, Montana and Arizona.
