Anyone planning on putting the baby in something special? Post links if you do. Right now Carter's is 50% off site/store wide, with an additional 25% off purchases of $50 or more.
I will be taking two, one that says little brother, and one that says little sister, won't know until delivery which one we will need I just need to actually buy them.
We have a family 'going home' outfit. It's way too thin to actually bring baby home in, so we will most likely take a lot of pictures in it for Pop and then change baby into something warm and Snuggly. I have a feeling late January is going to be extremely crisp
thank you for the heads up at carters! I'll have to check it out!
Well now I know what I'll be doing today. I need to buy this outfit so he can match his "brothers"!
Regarding a going home outfit - I just purchased a little tan/white stripe onesie, pant, and hat set from H&M. I think I'll use that. There are also some koala bear slippers and a koala lovey blanket that will be cute for pictures.
We haven't chosen anything yet, but I will probably let the boys choose. I remember picking out my brother's going home before he was born, and it made me feel very special and important. Since it will most likely be cold, we will "guide" them to choose a nice, snuggly fleece sleeper.
Edit to add: Thanks for the heads up about the Carters sale!!
I think it will depend on whether we want to go with matching outfits for the boys. I have a couple and will probably get several more during the baby shower. Most of what I have though is second hand and I am generally disinclined to buy something special.
I definitely will be. I don't know if I'm having boy or girl yet, so I haven't picked out anything specific. I do have some of those onesie sack things (instead of legs, its more like a dress but bunched at the bottom) to take to the hospital--some neutral, some 'boy', some 'girl'. When I find out on the 10th what I'm having I'll start packing my bag
I have my sons 'coming home' outfit still--if its a boy, I might use the same one. But, it is shorts and short sleeved polo onesie, so maybe not.
My son was average sized (7lbs, 6 oz, 21 inches) and the newborn outfit was drowning him. So, keep that in mind...if you want something that will look really "fitted", you might want to bring a few different options--newborn, premie, and 0-3, and then take back the ones that end up being too small.
I don't know that I would do the sack thing. Since his legs are together in the sack it might not be possible to get the car seat straps between his legs.
I always do a going home and picture outfit and then its put away for them when they are older so each has their own outfit i just dont know what team we are on yet so soon as i do i will be searching the stores for one its usually a sleeper and hat cant wait!

Yes! So much this! My DD was 6lbs 10oz so glad I brought a preemie outfit for her, even though it still swallowed her up. She was so itty bitty
Rats...now I am looking at the website and the boys clothes are so cute. I was so not going to get tempted (which clearly lasted less than a minute). The penguins are adorable.
I was going to get her a girly outfit, but then I wondered if I should keep it gender neutral. That way, if by some fluke we have another, the new sibling could wear it home too. Then when they grow up and have a baby, if they want to, they could continue the tradition with their own kids. Just a thought.
Aside from Carters and Old Navy, any other good places to look?
We moved from Florida to Kansas. HUGE weather difference. The outfit is a super fine linen dress and short sleeve coverlet with embroidered flowers all in (of course!) green with little pearl buttons. It's absolutely beautiful, but the linen is so fine you can say your the lines of your hand beneath it.
It worked for DS (born mid December in the south) but would definitely not work in Kansas. I'll see if I can find the picture of DS in it

(Probably a quote fail) Oh my goodness, so cute! However, when I see new babies, especially those who are more petite, it makes me so nervous. I have no experience with babies, and newborns look so fragile. It sounds silly, but I'm kind of afraid I'll break her somehow. My mom says that feeling will go away when the baby is born. I hope she's right!
When DS1 was born, DH was afraid of the same thing, and a nurse gave him the best advice before we went home. She said, "Whatever you do, don't drop him! Other than that, you'll be fine!" It was funny, but I really think it helped DH relax!
I've got these 3 things in a shopping cart right now, along with a few things for Nora, but I haven't committed yet because it's a little pricey. I'm pretty cheap when it comes to baby clothes lol.
I was getting a little frantic because I couldn't locate it. I was on the verge of tears. I was so depressed that most of the first weeks was a haze, but I was SURE that I had taken a picture.
I felt so much relief as soon as I found it!
I'm thinking a nice warm sherpa hooded bunting to bring this baby home in. We have a brown one with bear ears from DS, so if we could find that, it is what baby will be coming home in. Just like this:
I always do a going home and picture outfit and then its put away for them when they are older so each has their own outfit i just dont know what team we are on yet so soon as i do i will be searching the stores for one its usually a sleeper and hat cant wait!
I do the same thing!! All 3 boys have their going home outfit in a little box along with their baby book and 1st year scrapbook. This baby girl will have something cute and adorable to go home in. I'm leaning towards a really soft knit outfit, I just don't know what yet.

For all my boys I shopped at Gymboree, Tommy Hilfiger Kids, and Ralph Loren Kids. For this little girl, I'm all into baby boutiques. I have gotten quite a few things on Zulily and from Lollywollydoodle.com, but what I'm really loving is the Layette from Baby Bundles. I live in KY and it's a local boutique. REALLY spendy, so I have been holding off, but I will probably splurge on something adorable soon.

Yep, we got a little one piece that says Yay!, a cardigan with teeny stars and a striped hat, all on sale from Baby Gap. We're Team Green, but I contend that navy is gender-neutral. I love the Baby Gap clothes and they're pretty much always on sale.
Agreed, I definitely think navy is gender neutral! Super cute outfit
Ours has been a last minute thing. With my first, she was way too small for the outfit I picked out and my son was too long for his that my sister gave us. I will have a couple choices with me and my them in the one that fits. I prefer the hospital photos with the babies wrapped in the blankets. I will probably have a blanket that is customized for then.
I can't plan mine yet til we find out what we're having in a couple weeks. For a girl I'm really liking the peach colored outfits Carter's has. I'm not a huge pink person. Oldest came home in a Carter's sleeper, blue with brown puppies, matching hat and puppy booties that I got at my shower from my grandma. Youngest came home in an Old Navy sleeper, cream colored with sock monkeys and matching knit hat (same hat he is wearing in my siggy).
Since I had a homebirth, there was no coming home outfit, but here was his first going out outfit on day 3. I bought a bunch of these neutral organic bamboo kimonos and matching tights/hats/booties from a local company called westcoastbaby. The blanket is amazing plush and from petunia picklebottom.

GENDER NEUTRAL, could add a pink hat/mittens.

It will be comfy, and warm though whatever I buy.
I also loved this outfit for her too. I just love baby shopping and there's too many cute things.
