Re: Wednesday UOs

  • I know I'm late to the party, but... My fav ALS post so far was actually a friend who publicly said "I'm not doing the challenge, but instead I'm donating to these two charities that I believe strongly in." I liked that she still used the call-out to donate to really great causes even if she didn't do the actual challenge. Also, a friend of mine who works for a non-profit was commenting that the amount of money actually coming in from the challenge is problematic in itself. So far it's over 3x their yearly budget. They don't even know how to handle that kind of intake. It's basically overwhelming rather than helpful. That's not to say people shouldn't donate, but it's an interesting view.

I think bed sharing is dangerous (at least at my house), but I can find no other solution for getting L to sleep bn the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 am.

Just read up on how to do it safely, then go for it.  You both need your sleep.  We started out using bed sharing as a band aid.  But now I love it so much that I don't ever want her to leave.

This is us too. Though P was a great sleeper until around 9 or 10 months when teething started making her super fussy and she refused to go back down in her crib. So we were bitten by the bed sharing bug a little late, but now love it. J doesn't want to try to transition her anytime soon because he'll miss her.

Uhh, save it?! While this has been a great tactic this year I don't believe the hype and donations will continue at this rate. If it would cover 3x they should keep the same budget or slightly bigger budget and have the extra for coming years when donations may run lower.

  • I think all the various breast cancer "awareness" stuff is way more gimmicky than the ALS ice bucket challenge. Wearing something that says "I <3 boobies, buying/wearing something pink for awareness when there's nothing given to charity, wearing no bra, "mysteriously" posting your bra color on FB.... None of it is helpful. Also, middle school boysdon't want to wear something that says "I <3 boobies" for awareness, they want to wear it because they are immature middle school boys....
