Hi. Coming out of lurker status - actually I haven't even had time to lurk lately. With the updated mobile bump app and the fact that I started reading the Divergent series I've kind of gone away.
A will be 10 months on Monday. I nurse her in the morning and at night to bed and during the day she takes 2 5 ounce bottles plus solids for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Recently my supply has tanked and I can barely pump the 10 ounces she needs during the day while at daycare. I have about 60 ounces in the freezer and I feel that I may have to start tapping into that. At our 9 month checkup, the doctor rushed us out of the office so I didn't have much time to ask any questions about milk. I hate to supplement w/formula at this point just to switch her to cow's milk in 2 months.
Do you think it would be too early to do 1/2 BM and 1/2 Cow's milk? Or even 3/4 BM? Or do you think I should maybe try to see how she does with 2 4 ounce bottles instead? Sorry if this has been discussed previously. If it has, can someone point me in the right direction.
Re: Decreasing bottles
I'll keep pumping while at work and even if I have to tap into my stash hopefully it will only be for an ounce or 2.
#2 due 12.23.17
6am - 3 ounces I offer 4 but get 3 in her is a fight!
8:15 Cereal with fruit at daycare
930 4 ounces of milk
11 am lunch.
1 pm or when ever she is done with a nap. They offer a bottle, very rarely takes more than 2 ounces
2 pm yogurt
They try another bottle, if it's ano go she gets another snack
Supper at 5:45
7:45 5-6 ounces of milk
I just send a ton of food, and 3 bottles. 1 is usually not touched.
I just try to make sure she is eating/ drinking all day.
I would make sure there is enough wet diapers.
That's good to know. I was having some irrational fear that she would just completely reject it. Although I have to say with solids she loves everything so if I have to within the next 2 months use formula.
This is one of the reasons I saved all the formula samples I was sent in the mail. Hopefully they are all still ok.
Someone suggested the Earths Best Organic formula in a thread a while back because their doctor said it tasted more like breast milk than some others so I hunted that out (found it at Target) and she seems to like it.
As far as solids, I give my girl anything we are eating, for the most part. She likes salmon, ham, turkey, chicken. I just rip those into little pieces and she shovels them in. Pears cut into spears, peaches sliced and peeled, Greek yogurt mixed with purées, berries, those are all favorites of hers. And I have stopped buying puffs and let her have goldfish crackers and mini nilla wafers on occasion. She thinks those are pretty much amazing.
For solids she eats whatever we eat. I'm not really exactly how much tho. I just keep feeding her until she starts to throw it on the floor. I want to ask daycare on Monday how much they give her since I don't have to pack any food. I do know she can eat an entire hotdog and still look for more.
Everything in moderation though! As long as he isn't having a hotdog for lunch every day, I'm sure it's more than fine.
