I went to my monthly appointment this morning and the doctor couldn't find the baby's HB with the Doppler. I'm 13w3d today. The doctor started getting flustered and nervous. He started asking me like where I was originally from, etc I guess to lighten the air. He wanted me to get an US but the sonographer was so busy with other patients. They wont let me come back just to be sure. I'm so nervous. I have to wait until Sept 17 for my next appointment. Is this common practice?? I think tomorrow I am going to call and tell them I want to come back in. :-/
UPDATE: I called my doctor and demanding that they bring me back in for an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok. They placed me on hold for 30 minutes! I hung up and called back, the receptionist told me they had no openings for an U/S for 3 weeks. I told her this was an emergency to me. She still said sorry we can't get you in. I asked to speak to the practice manager, she was conviently in a meeting. I drove to the ER, explained the situation and waited to been seen. 3 hours later, they called me back and I went for an U/S. They completely skipped trying with the Doppler. There little baby was flipping us off. Lol strong heartbeat and moving all around. I tried not to worry but it was really hard! Everything looks completely healthy!
To answer someone's question- I don't see a military doctor. Our naval hospital sends us out on town for maternity appointments. It's the only OB/GYN in the area, unless I drive an hour and a half away.
I plan on talking to the head doctor in charge at my office to ensure this doesn't happen to me or another woman again. THANK YOU ALL for your thoughts and prayers!!! Y'all are awesome!
Re: *UPDATE* Doctor couldn't find HB.
Worst case scenario the ER might be a way to get some kind of answer.
But if it makes you feel any better I was 13+5 when I was in the ER last week and they couldn't find either baby on the Doppler. I went to my normal appointment today and they are both healthy and very much there! Hopefully that will ease your mind a little bit. Try not to stress!
First of all try not to stress! I went in for my 12 wk apt last week and my doctor couldn't find a heartbeat. Thankfully, even though the sonographer was full for the day, she squeezed me in that same day and we saw our sweetie moving around and doing well!! So you're little sweetie is probably fine. The doc couldn't find the babies heartbeat b/c the "placenta is in the front" which caused her to only hear my heartbeat. The sonographer said that they will probably continue to have this problem for awhile due to the location of the placenta and my fibroid.
Second, certainly call back and be as kind as you can to whoever you speak with and get a sonogram scheduled. :-) Good luck.

Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!
I honestly wouldn't worry before 15 weeks or so if nothing's showing up on a doppler.

@MandaBowlin - PP was referring to it being common to not be able to find a HB with a Doppler at 13w. Since it just happened to you, you should know. Don't make OP think that it must be the worst.
@usmcwife89 - Try not to worry too much - call this morning and see if they can fit you in today or tomorrow.

I have learned through my history with these practices that you really have to advocate for yourself. You shouldn't have to, but call back and ask for an u/s [eta: or closer appt for another doppler] for your piece of mind. There is no need for them to string you along for a month. It will be miserable. My doc did that to me, and never again.
