On Friday night we were out checking out places to rent and someone rear ended us really hard. We were stopped at a red light and as the light changed the car sped up to try and catch the green light, not realizing the car in the very front hadn't moved. We were pushed into the car in front of us. Luckily DS was asleep, woke up on impact and fell right back to sleep. He doesn't remember what happened at all.
I started contracting and cramping really low so we went straight to the hospital. I ended up staying over night in L&D with contractions coming every 3 to 5 minutes at one point. They pumped me full of saline and checked for dilation. I wasn't dilating at all so the doctors think it was just a matter of stress and my uterus being irritated from where the seat belt dug into me.
Baby girl hated the monitor and kicked it off every chance she got so a nurse was in there to fix it every 30 minutes all night. She looks great and wasn't phased by the accident at all, thank goodness. DS car seat base was damaged from the impact so it's been replaced and the car needs some work. I'm bruised and sore, but over all ok. I'm so grateful it wasn't worse. Pretty scary stuff.

Replacing the car seat was the first thing we did when we left the hospital. Insurance is covering it, even if they weren't I would have wanted a new one just in case. That's not something to mess around with.
Thank you all for your kind responses! This is really a wonderful community.
