So, we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and won't be moving until we buy a house next year (summer/fall). I am going to have LO in our room for the first few months, so that's all good. But, when we move him/her to the other room (with his/her 2 siblings), I need to figure out how to fit the 3 of them in there. My thoughts were to get a bunk bed for my 2 girls, and then that would leave lots of room for the crib as well as an area to play in. What I need opinions on is whether or not my oldest will be old enough to be on a top bunk. She will be about 4 1/2 when we would make the switch (dd2 will be 3 1/4). Is that too young for a top bunk? I'm a little worried she might fall out and hurt herself. She doesn't fall out of her bed now, though. She's in a twin bed that has a box spring, so she's already at least 2 feet off the ground, but a top bunk is most likely 4-5 feet off the ground. I'm just not sure if the bunk beds is a good idea or not. What are your thoughts?
That is a tough one! I don't have personal experience with having a LO in a bunk bed at that age, but I have seen some smaller bunk beds every few months on Zulily. Some even have slides from the top and they are usually fairly I expensive for wooden bunk
I remember having bunk beds when I was about five and did fine. But it had a rail (that was removable) so incase I did roll, I wouldn't fall. If you get the wooden ones and it doesn't come with one, you could always make one. But the trundle is also

My nieces will be 4 in July - they are bunked and there have been no issues with it. Most bunk beds today have a safety rail built right into the furniture, so the only real issue is the climbing up and down the ladder part.
I think is she's doing fine in her twin bed a bunk bed should be no problem especially since most come with the rai attached and I have seen some bunks that are pretty low and not so high. I think it's a great space saver and they will love it!

We have bunk beds for our girls that we got in October right after our oldest turned 4. We have Serenity (oldest) on the top bunk and Sovi (youngest) on the bottom bunk. I'd say go for it. Serenity has never had a problem and got the hang of the ladder on
When we were shopping for bunk beds for DS room, there were some in a style that had a lower top bunk and steps leading up instead of ladders. My concern was DS gets out of bed and goes to the potty really without waking up at all, so I was worried about

My son will be that age when we move him and his sister to bunk beds this summer. This is the one we plan to get from Ikea and I am comfortable with him being there with the rails.
Re: bunk beds, opinions appreciated

ok not to be snarky, but I thought that you could only have 2 people per room in apartments.
To your post- I would maybe go to a store and test them out and see how your girls would like a bunkbed first.
