Am I the only one who can't sleep with a baby? Not in a chair, not in a bed, no where. The constant awareness does not allow me to relax enough to sleep.

Alexander has skipped his 2am feed for the past 4 nights. I REALLY hope this continues, but I have a feeling he was just tired from all the activities during the day. My in-laws came to meet him, so we took him with us everywhere we went. Praying that I am wrong and he continues these 4+ hour stretches of sleep.

I can't either. I fall asleep during a MOTN feeding sometimes, but i wake right up - when she was about a week old I woke up in our glider while sleeping with her, and a) i was almost smothering her with my fat arm and b) she was hanging off of that arm head first over our hardwood floor. Never. Again.
ghostof5letters -- same here. She's not a super noisy sleeper, but every little noise wakes me up or keeps me from falling asleep. It suuuuucks. DH can fall asleep anywhere, anytime, even if she's grunting or crying. I'm so jealous of him these days.
I've been lurking during my late-night feeding sessions, and just finally am back in enough of a groove to post! We had family visiting for Junie's first 2 weeks of life, which turned out to be wayyy more exhausting than having a newborn has been! We will never do that again. The last ones just left this past weekend, and it's been so nice to be just the three of us again.
Anyway, it's good to be back from the land of lurkers.
Target has their Mei Tai carriers on sale online for $24.99 right now. They are still $34.99 in store but the customer service counter price matched for me. (I believe Amazon has them for the same sale price, too.)

@honeybee434 Those are cute! I may have to get one.

I'll be nodding off and then he'll make even the slightest sound and I have to wake up and look at him. I keep telling myself that he's fine but, I can't help it.

I can vouch for the Mei Tai! I've used mine a handful of times already and Junie loves it! It's also muuuuch easier to put on/put baby in than you'd think.

This was me two weeks ago. I just couldn't wrap my mind around sleeping with the baby. She would get up every 1.5 hours through the night, and be grunting and moving and whining, then one night I was holding her in bed and she just let out this huge sigh and completely relaxed and we fell asleep for 5 hours together and when I woke up we were in the exact same position. She's always tucked in my elbow and me sleeping on my back or me facing her.
It's dangerous, I'm still uneasy about it but I can't describe it.. I have co slept with her 3x and the nights we did we both got so much sleep and on the nights we don't I am up every 1.5 hours. It's hard to not do it all the time
Mister took my car today, and he left his car that isn't setup for car seat. Andddddd the city is doing repairs to the water lines and shut off the water. So I'm dirty, the lunch place in walking distance has no water either. I also have a load of cloth diapers 1/3rd washed.
Decided I hadn't really lived until I was standing in the OB exam room for my postpartum check naked, in a paper gown, my LO puking all over DH and himself, all while my boobs leak milk all over me, the gown, the floor, and eventually LO. So change LO while boobs continue to leak everywhere. Followed by the decision to feed LO since he was extremely fussy and therefore making the leaking worse and saturating one side of said paper gown. I laughed the whole way home...
I don't understand these challenges on Facebook and someone dumps water on them and then other people have to? Wtf am I missing here?
The challenges I don't get (the fire crap etc) but if it's the one where someone gets ice cold water dumped on them it might me "chillin' for charity".. Many of my coach and athletic family are doing it and basically you call others out to do it if they don't they have to pay a "penalty" to the charity etc. this is my coach at csun that did it and kind of explains it as well--

That kind of stuff never happens at home. I've realized in two short weeks that any time we leave the house at any given moment shit (and vomit) can, and probably will hit the fan. Glad you handled it with humor and probably lots of grace!!

I was left in the exam room with DD for about 30 min before the Dr came in to see me. I had been told to go ahead and get in the sheet, so I had to sit there for 30 min while DD got hungry and had a dirty diaper. Squatting to change her diaper while only in the paper cover was different. I may or may not have let DD cry a little longer than I normally would and talked to her loudly about the length of our wait (the walls are thin and the nurse apologized through the door shortly after that).
Hubby has worked 7 night shifts in a row and I had a stress meltdown today. Hubs feels bad and is letting me take a mental health day Sunday. I. Can't. Wait. Starbucks and Barnes and noble here I come!

Ok ladies, I'm calling it. DD is sleeping through the night! We've had a week straight of her sleeping from after her 8:30pm feeding to anytime between 5:30-6:30am. Of course, this could all go to pot tonight, but if she's anything like her brother, we've turned that corner (he was STTN by week 8 as well).
For fucks sake, my 2 year old just shat on his floor. When I walked into his room he acted like he didn't know what it was and asked me "what's that?!". All before I have had coffee. Well played Jack. Well played.
Where did 'bye felicia' come from? I've seen the hash tag a few times...
My 6 year old daughter has started to pick that one up. But, she thinks it's just a silly nickname. So, she's been leaving camp saying "bye Felicia" like it's a cool new name to all her friends. And because it's a cool new thing, her friends have decided to make it their own and rename it "kelicia"
@Matthew930 Maybe you're doing to much? That happened to me last year. Plus it was also like really bright red. I called the nurses and it was from me being to active.
If that's the case, honestly I know it maybe hard but give yourself a rest for the rest of this day. I know, I'm the type who always has to be doing something, but for the sake of that bleeding. Cut it out!
Ugh my neighbor was just after me with unsolicited advice. Its 69 degrees here today. Baby is in a one piece thing with feet and long sleeves. I put him in the ring sling to take the dog out and happened to see my neighbor. First thing she said was Oh my God that baby should be wearing a hat!!! I just laughed and said he wore one yesterday and didn't like it... and she goes on about how he's going to get an ear infection (it's 69 degrees. And temperature doesn't cause infection, bacteria do) and that I'm spoiling him he has to get used to it. And oh by the way I shouldnt be using a wrap its an appendage and he needs to get used to not being held.
Remind me to check that she's not outside next time I go :-P
I haven't stopped bleeding since July 3rd ( literally too, I had several blood transfusions )
Ugh - i remember your birth story! How are you healing? I can't even imagine. And here my biggest problem is that I really want to take my son swimming (it was "our thing" before the baby was born), and i thought I was in the clear.
@TexasGirl81 - i think that's what this is...it's bright red, and it showed up directly after my 2 mile walk around town...poop.
Well I had surgery to find my Mirena today. I had it put in last week at my 6w pp check-up. I was hurting but thought it was normal. They couldn't find the strings this Wed. at my check-up so I went for an ultrasound and it was nowhere to be found. I had a laparoscopy this morning and they found it up by my stomach. Then I had a laryngospasm and I remember not being able to breathe. DH works again tonight and my 3 year old is sick. I just want to whine whine whine so thanks for letting me do it P.S. I hate pumping and dumping. It makes me sad and hurts like a mo-fo. Pity party <:-P

I'm having mirena, second time having one, put in Tuesday and now I'm scared

My sister had the same thing happen and DH is still advocating for this as the bc of choice.
lowen83 According to my doctor it's pretty rare to have it completely go through the uterus into the abdominal cavity. When I called my SIL she told me she had several friends that it happened to though. I also know several people who have had no problems with it. If you had one before I bet you will be fine I didn't mean to scare anyone.
My doctor was going to put another one in while I was asleep for surgery but I was a little reluctant and DH said absolutely not. I had it put in because it shouldn't interfere with breastfeeding. The hubs was kind of upset with me because I didn't tell him I was doing it. He thought I was going to get a tubal ligation (insurance doesn't cover vasectomys) but I was trying to save myself from surgery. Well I got my surgery anyway and since my hospital is Catholic they won't do sterilization procedures so he couldn't do a ligation while fishing for my Mirena.
Um speaking of bright red blood, I just changed DSs diaper and there was dried blood in his belly button. The umbilical stump has been gone for two weeks so I'm a little uncomfortable. Just put in a message to the pedi.
We kept finding dried blood after the umbilical stump fell off as well and the pedi put something on it and it seems to be doing better now.
My OH's cousin's wife is due to pop her baby out any day and it's taking everything I have not to harass them about MiniMe's new cousin. There can never be enough babies!

Ok @jnnfrrose6 - I just downloaded the moms on call app, and it seems like I pretty much adhere to the schedule organically (I followed the EASY rotation of the baby whisperer with my son, and it's basically the same thing), with the exception of the evening feeds. She's still sporadic with waking up after "bedtime" - is it just that I have to stick with it? She's not even 4 weeks at this point...she'll be 4 weeks on Sunday...
Where did 'bye felicia' come from? I've seen the hash tag a few times...
The reality show "party down south"
@amlonica It came from the movie Friday. With Chris Tucker and Ice Cube. Felicia was the freeloading neighbor. I took the liberty of including the clip because it's one of my favorite movies. I could watch it everyday.
I discovered an ingrown eyelash on my eyelid earlier today and have been randomly picking at it. I decided it was finally time to consult Dr. Google ... apparently its a pretty major thing. An eye dr has to remove it, it can be reoccurring and in some cases it can cause blindness. Oh and trying to remove it yourself is baddddd. What the heck?!? It's a tiny ingrown hair!
