Message her. Tell her because she said only half a day, you made plans. She needs to come get her kid.
I agree! That is very rude to just assume your daycare/babysitter is going to watch your kid longer just because you want to run errands alone. At least have the courtesy to ask if they minded watching him a little longer.
Speaking of piercings... Thanks to pregnancy related congestion, I'm having the hardest time keeping my nose studs in when I honk into a tissue. And putting them back in without looking like I'm digging for gold is tricky.
@Citybee, I'm sorry that it has to be like that, that stinks. Contract or not, I still think it's rude that she tells you a half day and then takes longer. If I have a half-day, but want to do some errands, I tell my daycare that it will be a full day but I might pick her up at 4 instead of 5.

Same here. Only I just go for it. Who cares if people think I'm picking my nose
I use a stud that bends at the end and I love it. I have sensitive skin and had to get a really nice one and am glad I chose the one with the bend.

I've had my tragus pierced for 5 years. Now all of the sudden this morning it's tender and sore. Waaaaaah (
Booo! I've always wanted to get mine done! Maybe when I have to take out my other ones due to this whole baby thing, I will do that!
Did you sleep on it funny? Maybe got a hair in there or something?
-----quote fail-----
I'm hoping that's all it is and that it will feel better tomorrow. I don't want to take it out! It's one of the last ones standing.
What piercings do you have? Slutty ones like me and Mel used to have?
Ohh! I used to have below the neck piercings ;;)
I hope your tragus settles down.... Sea salt soak:? @SNLT1012
So... I tried to listen for the heartbeat and didn't get much of anything. Not really surprised, and definitely not nervous. But some questions.
So... I tip toe around it, but I'm fat, fact of life. Fat mama here! How hard do I need to push down? I felt like I was burrowing a hole through myself. Too hard? lol
Does "sucking it in" help at all?
I heard a lot of LOUD static, maybe not enough gel?
@darbie, I'm sorry that you're having a difficult time. Have you asked what you could do in order to be qualified for those other positions? Does your boss think so highly of you that he doesn't want to lose you to another department?
My tragus hurt during my first pregnancy. Eventually I just let it go along with my belly button piercing. Wish I had been warned at sixteen what it would look like after pregnancy.... yeesh!
Food woes: I can't stop eating. I'm so insanely hungry and it's driving me absolutely insane. All I can think about is my cup noodle snack, and I want to walk down to the nearby gas station to buy myself a Snickers ice cream bar.
I was so hoping pregnancy would cause the opposite to happen But here I am, snarfing up every and anything placed in front of me.
Also, the internet lied. Biscoff spread is NOT sold at our local Walmart. I'm going to try one more specialty shop before I break and just buy it from Amazon.

The only ones I think I'll have to take out are my nipples. I'm sort of torn. On one hand, maybe it's time to outgrow them...on the other, I like them, dammit!
I took my nipple piercings out when I was pregnant the first time. My OB said I didn't have to but I figured it was time. It was a sad sad moment for me and I still miss them. Also, this was 2 years ago almost and the holes still leak. It's gross.
I took my nipple rings out when I started getting serious about fitness. There was one specific machine at the gym that pressed on them and they were constantly getting irritated. They had to go.
@iwishiwaspreggo I agree, try Target! I've been able to find it there and my local Wal-mart. I ate like half of the new jar of Biscoff spread last night while watching Teen Mom 2. I wish I were kidding.
@MandJS A friend of mine had an au pair for the past year and she just went back to Germany. I think they had an ok experience but struggled with getting used to having another adult living in their house. As far as I know the kids really liked her though. They have a 4 yr old and 1 yr old twins. I'm not sure what they're doing now - daycare I guess?
There is also an au pair who lives with a family in my neighborhood; I don't know them well but I always see her at the park with the kids. She's been around at least a couple years so I guess they must like the arrangement!
According to the interwebz, my Target does sell Biscoff... but then Walmart claimed to carry it, too. I guess I'll need to make a Target run! I have to find out what all this cookie butter fuss is about!!!
I wish, wish, WISH we could get a Trader Joe's in my town, but we're under the iron fist of our local co-op, which is super expensive. Other townsfolk would riot if the co-op lost business to Trader Joe's so I'm sort of screwed. Which sucks because they sell these delicious salmon burgers!! My mom and dad bought some for me.
I can always go to Indianapolis to shop at Trader Joe's but I am extremely resentful that I have to drive 1.5 hours to shop there when we have the perfect demographic for a Trader Joe's right here, if it weren't for the stupid spendy co-op :P
@BostonAlison I'm certainly no expert on dopplers (having used mine exactly once so far) but I had to push down a good bit. I'm not "fat" really (or I don't know, maybe I am?) but I definitely have some belly fat and my bones don't stick out! I didn't push to the point of it hurting though. Are you hearing anything? Your heartbeat, weird swooshing noises, etc.? I at least knew it was working when I found my heartbeat, which I heard in various places. I just used the gel that came with mine, enough to where it slid around my abdomen pretty easily. GL!
@BostonAlison , as you know, I'm fat too. We didn't use it last time until 16 weeks. Sometimes I'd have to push in pretty hard. It might be a bit early for those of us with extra padding...don't get discouraged though, I used mine all the time last pregnancy! K was really good at finding the HB for me.
The boutique ultrasound place near me does this package where they have you come in at 14 weeks to see the sex and "confirm" at 17 weeks... Can you usually see the sex at 14 weeks? Has anyone here done an elective us to check the sex early?

There are some dangle of the angle enthusiasts out there, but 14 weeks is REALLY early.

Lmao the package is even called "angle of the dangle." My cousin did it with her son and said she really liked it and they were accurate. If you don't do that package you can't go in until 17 weeks which is only 3 weeks away from the A/S where we'd probably find out anyway... Ugh. It might not even be worth it
There is a Livingsocial deal for a 3D/4D u/s at a nearby hospital practice for $50. Is that a good deal? I know my office offers them as elective, which I'm guessing means it's not covered by insurance? I suppose I should look into that. But I have no idea how much one would normally cost. The hospital isn't super convenient because of traffic but not too far. Also the deal expires in late November I think. I tend to be in the "I'll take any chance I can get to see baby!" wagon, but I also don't want to waste my time and my $50 if it's not worth it. Thoughts?

That's a good price. Here if you do the one at 17 weeks it's $69 and if you do the package it's $139
I start working at Starbucks tomorrow. I'm dreading it. I liked it in high school but I wish I could actually use my degree. Hopefully something different will come along soon.

I think that sounds like a good deal. It's $125 at my dr's office.
@BostonAlison I am quite fat myself. I know from my last preg that I found the heartbeat right before I went in for my ten week appt. The ob was not pleased I had Doppler'd myself, but she had the SAME Doppler I had and I tried to explain that I had, in fact, found it. Anyway, yes - it does take some pushing. And it's wayyyyy low right now. It took me almost two weeks of nightly searching to find it. When you do find it, it's an amazing thing. Sometimes it sounds like a horse galloping if you (and baby) are in the correct positions.
