Fuck my life. We had a big thunderstorm. Power blinked a few times and now our AC is not blowing cold. The idea of sitting in no AC with a baby attached to me is making me screamy. And baby has been feeding every freaking hour since 9am.

"Screamy"! Ha! I like that almost as much as I like "hangry".

@SuperTinkerham I'm so sorry! That storm was crazy!! There was lightening like crazy here. Our lights went off and on about 20x's! Uhhhh, I hope they restore yours soon.
First solo work trip booked sooner rather than later. Sept 4-7 Montreal - Baby will be 9 weeks old. I was hoping to delay a multi day trip until October...so it is.
I'm excited to get back to work though. This'll be like a paid vacation with a side of mommy guilt. yay!

I'll be there soon enough too - everything will be fine.
I keep having to remind myself that my job let's us live the way we want to live, and that I actually enjoy what I do for a living...it softens the blow...

@SuperTinkerham and @TexasGirl81 - we must live in the same area...however, I got the thunder and lightning, but no rain. I'm so tired of having to run the sprinklers. My electric bill in the summer already makes me want to cry. I don't need a nasty water bill too!
I'm in the mid atlantic area and the rains are awful today. All I want is a hot bath and a nap.

Last in-law leaving today. I get my baby back tonight! The best thing about in-laws being in town is that DS slept from 12-5am for the last 4 nights. They tired him out
Nursed in public (with a cover) for the first time today. It's not easy but I think can get better with some practice. It would be SO much easier without the cover but i just don't think I can do that.

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect slow flow bottle. Today I ordered Breastflow and Dr. Browns because all of my insane googling research says those show that the baby consumes the lowest ml at a time. I've ruled out my Nuk, Momma, Avent and Tommee Tippee (which is the best of the 4). Here's hoping one of these ends up making her feedings last long enough that she realizes she's full after the right amount of ounces!

We have tried both Dr Browns and Tommee Tippee. My LO does better with the Dr Browns bottles. She keeps more in her mouth and seems full afterwards. My LC recommended them.

Avelina hated the nuk - she didn't get any out! But she did really well with the born free, and she self-Regulated and stopped when she was full. Didn't have much gas.
I registered for born free (random choice from lucies list) but we havent tried them yet. How are they complicated @Matthew930 ?
The bottle i bought has SEVEN PIECES to it, including the lid. SEVEN. Once I got the hang of how to put it together, it was fine, but seriously...what happened to a bottom top and nipple?! Now it's all that "colic prevention" fancy stuff. A lot has changed in 5 years!
We haven't had a good monsoon storm in awhile, and tonight it was so strong it knocked the power out for awhile. Now I'm listening to the rain and feeding DS. So relaxing.

I'm on my cell so I can't see if you have a sig telling this but how old is your LO? My pedi told us that when 1 month hits they should use 1 nipple higher becuase the lower the flow the more air they suck in when they eat. I know you said you used Avent with no avail but they have a great nipple system not sure if the other bottles are like that. Good luck!
I wear my daughters pacifier on my finger, she is always popping it out and wants it whenever I am comfortable and don't have one near me so I thought fuck it I'll wear it like a ring...
And now it's stuck and I can't get it past my knuckle
@csldtk She will be 7 weeks tomorrow. The main problem with the nipples we have now is she gulps the bottle down like no tomorrow, and she ends up with milk spilling out of her mouth as well from gulping so much into her mouth at once. I'll try to pace feed her but she gets extra angry if I try to take the bottle away for a bit. I can usually get one burping out of her half way through, be after about one minute of that she wants the bottle back. She eats so fast that she doesn't realize that she's full after a normal bottle amount. Most of what I'm looking at has a level 1 nipple that most brands recommend using for quite a few months? Now I'm all confused!

Mine did/still sometimes does this too. Very agressive when eating her bottles. What I found helped is get her in a position where you can use both hands and with one hand you use you thumb and pointer finger and squeeze her cheeks in the motion and pace you want her to drink. After about 4x of this my LO would gulp to the pace of me pushing her cheeks in and relaxed. Now when she gulps it down and has it dribbling everywhere and is eating like an animal I take the bottle away from her( she screams) and I walk her around and get her in a more calm state if mind then try again.
My pedi told me that the slower the nipple as they get older they have to work for it much harder and get frustrated and end up swallowing a lot of air. He told me to go by the up to 4 weeks they use #1 newborn nipple, 4-12 weeks they use #2 nipple and then 12-16 #3 nipple.
Again this is for avent so I'm not sure with the other brands.
Waiting back in the doctors office because I'm pretty sure my csection incision is still infected.. Fingers crossed its ok but I'm sure it's not... Ughhh

Just got out- she said its healing well but still a little oozing from one part, she cauterized it and threw another steri-strip on top and she said there was no odor! So hopefully this is the end of it!
Ok ladies, I'm calling it. DD is sleeping through the night! We've had a week straight of her sleeping from after her 8:30pm feeding to anytime between 5:30-6:30am. Of course, this could all go to pot tonight, but if she's anything like her brother, we've turned that corner (he was STTN by week 8 as well).
Re: Random thread- for all things random.
