How do you roll over?

2»

Re: How do you roll over?

  • Between the body pillow and the belly and getting tangled in the sheets, I'm not really sure how I roll.  I do know that when I got up to pee last night, I had a half asleep conversation with DH that went something like this....

    DH:  Are you ok?
    Me:  Mmm hmm.
    DH:  What's wrong?
    Me:  Had to pee.
    DH:  What was that noise?
Me:  Getting Tums out of the container.
(Me huffing and puffing to get back into bed and trying to get somewhat comfortable, followed by groaning because I felt the urge to pee again, followed by a deep sigh because I was stuck on my back and almost couldn't muster the energy to roll to my side let alone get up again)
DH:  Are you sure you're ok?

We have the same routine. Even the TUMS. This is hilarious!

  • Another one not having much trouble rolling over or getting out of bed.  Mind you, we have high beds so I can swing my legs over the side and let gravity/momentium take over to just slide onto my feet.

Also, I all but moved into the guest room when going through IF treatments (due to insomnia caused by the meds) and have stayed there for most of the pregnancy.  Just easier and I don't have to worry about waking DH up every time I roll over or can't sleep.  Also, more room on the bed for all of my pillows.

@golfingdarwinfish - I think I am also a freak of pregnant nature.  So, you aren't alone.

  • I am pretty much always getting stuck.  I hate it.  I wake up try to roll over, after a few minutes of rocking back and forth I finally get to the other side.  Then I get all nice and snuggly with my pillow tucked behind my back.  Then I have to pee.  So I struggle to get out of bed.  It's really annoying.  I am typically a back sleeper, so I can not wait to get back to that!  Yes I snore and it drives dh crazy but it makes me happy.

  • @carriedaway19‌ WHERE did you find that picture of me?!

@swizz09‌ Yes!! You can absolutely sleep on your back! :D

  • I wish I had a trick but I haven't found anything else that works either. On top of that, as another PP said, I also take one of my pillows with me. Good times

  • I don't have this issue yet, but am relieved to know it's coming, and to have a thread full of talk about how to do it. Right now it takes a little effort, but I'm play splitting the night 50:50 on each side. I also don't have to wake up to pee before 5ish yet. I feel like a freak of pregnant nature.
Me too, but I hadn't mentioned this yet because I feel so awful for the ladies that are having to pee multiple times each night. I usually spend about half the night on each side and don't feel like I'm sleeping all that uncomfortably yet.

  • I wake up and have to pee, but I just say fuck it and go back to bed. I am going to do that as long as I possibly can.

  • For those of you who get to sleep till 5am w/o going to pee...

OMG inorite?! I go to bed at like 11ish...I'm up by 2. Then 330. Then 5. Then 630 when DH's alarm goes off (and I rush out of bed to beat him to the bathroom at this point!).   @-)

Seriously!! ^^ I race DH to the bathroom every morning!!!
  • I roll over on my back and sometimes give myself an extra boost by pushing with my arms.  Luckily, my DH hasn't complained about my constant movement.  I also have the same problem with my hips so I change sides every time I wake up to try and relieve that pain a little.
  • I feel like a whale breaching when I have to switch sides! There is a lot of heavy breathing and flopping. I have noticed that going to the chiropractor and sitting as much as possible on an exercise ball (my chiros recommendation) has helped with my hip pain at night. But sweet Jesus I can't wait to sleep on my stomach again!
  • I don't even know how I make it happen. There's a lot of cussing involved though.

    I literally LOL'd! =))

I think it's hilarious that there are 2 pages about how to roll over!!! The answers just keep coming too!

I finally came back to this thread because there was 40+ new replies. I thought the exact same thing!

  • Grunting and profanity are always involved.  As far as the movements used, whatever can get this hot body moving in a forward movement.

  • I do the turtle as well.  Super hard work and it takes several minutes to catch my breath afterward.  I have noticed, however, that getting out of bed entails rolling onto my hands and knees and stepping out of bed still in that position.

I'm with you guys! I wake up once in the middle of the night needing to change sides because my hips/knees have started to hurt, and once I'm awake I have to pee. But other than that, I've been doing pretty good. I can tell it's starting to get worse though....I'm sure I'll be up all the time in these last two months.

  • I still sleep on my stomach so I think that makes rolling over easier. I am lucky enough to not have discomfort on my stomach while pregnant. I slept on my stomach with DS 1 the entire pregnancy and am hoping to this time as well. So far so good. Breastfeeding also didn't cause me discomfort when sleeping on my stomach so I am hoping to have that luck this time too!

  • @reneenearl‌ wow do you surround you bump with pillows? Your LO doesn't complain?

    @MrsCunningham22‌

I use three pillows but under my head. Not sure if that helps me or not. LO is most active in the late evening before I go to bed and into the middle of the night but he seems comfy in there. When I mentioned it to one of my doctors last pregnancy, she told me that she also slept on her belly throughout her whole pregnancy. I am not sure why it doesn't get uncomfortable because I am starting to get uncomfortable during the day already.
