Re: FFFC

• I've been MIA (and a newbie at that) due to vacation and a massive amount of visitors but figured I might just jump back in and I actually have a confession...

A couple weeks ago I was about to get my period and then got massively itchy. Started at night, couldn't go to the store and everyone was in bed. So I totally put diaper cream on my vag to see if it would give me some relief. It didn't but I was desperate and it did say soothing...

I also didn't know I was pregnant til aug 10 (was trying but irregular) - there were quite a few hard nights inbetween...

@Bluebird2318‌ You only knew about your DD's existence for about 13-14 weeks before she was born. Crazy. I can't imagine!
@LoriMc12 Yes! I think about that all the time. I could count on one hand the number of times I'd even held a baby prior to having DD. I'd never taken care of one in my life, but there I was with a preemie when I'd only been aware of my pregnancy for 3.5 months or so. It was absolutely crazy. How do you even prepare for that?

Whenever I see the dates everyone else got their BFP I feel kind of stupid and a little bit irresponsible.

I didn't find out until August 19th, and even then I just happened to take the test on a whim. I didn't even tell my husband I was taking it even though he was downstairs, because I 'knew' it would be negative.

Until then, I'd still been partying pretty hard...so while the news was exciting, we were definitely worried about possible repercussions. I'm going to be more vigilant the next time around.

I got my BFP on Aug. 13th, but I think that was early for me. I hadn't even missed my period yet; it was due to arrive 4 days later.

My FFFC (that was supposed to be a UO that I forgot until now): I dislike side-nursing and don't think it's magical.
What?!? Side nursing is how I get all my work done! It's how we fall asleep at night. It's the best thing the miu nursed showed me.
Flame away, Vinny, flame away. =;

I don't know if I'm doing it wrong, but it hurts. It feels like she's trying to suck my milk duct through my nipple! Doesn't feel like this in any other position. And other than that, it just feels awkward to me.

• When I fly, I usually recline my seat regardless of time of flight. It's more comfortable that way. The person in the seat behind me can do the same. If you want this ability, avoid the exit and bulk head rows.

You are the person I hate sitting behind. You can't wait 10 minutes for the seatbelt sign to go off and rob me of my 10 minutes of extra leg room I'm entitled to by law. Fuck you. LOL

Sometimes I feel like I'm not cut out to be a SAHM and that I would be much happier if I was working. I would be lying if I said I liked being around my kids 24/7. Don't get me wrong, I love them more than anything but I do not like being around them all the time. The whole reason I'm home while DH is training is so that I can have a break sometimes because I'm pretty sure if I had to do it for two months by myself, I might lose my shit. Admitting all of this makes me feel horrible.

• ((Hugs)) @J&NL I think there's a lot of moms who feel the same way. I know when I was staying at home there were days I felt exactly the same - I couldn't wait to hand of DS when DH got home from work. There's nothing wrong with needing a little time away. It most definitely doesn't mean you don't love your kids! I think it makes you a better mom because your recognizing what makes you happy, and if you're happy, that will always lend itself to happier kids!

• @PoppySeedWindsor - my first thought when I read "grab a pipe" in your post was you wielding a piece of copper/cast iron pipe as a weapon or a smoking pipe ala Masterpiece Theatre. I'm guessing you meant a 3rd kind.

ETA: If my first assumption was correct, I wouldn't want to surprise you late at night knocking on your door.
I've got all three.

Also -- I'm not a giant stoner, just a stressed mama :-)

• The JW's came to my door last night. These days I'm grateful that I have a security door and a crazy jumping dog that allows me to talk to people through the door, but have a great reason not to open it or take whatever they are passing out. The mailman, however, was not a fan when I had to sign for certified mail. Sorry, my dog is super friendly, but he's crazy

• J&nl, everyone needs a break! Don't beat yourself up, doll, this shiz gets to everyone sometimes, job or no job.
• It must be a day for theological sharing. Just had a family knock on my door.

My FFFC: Whenever I get a knock on the door, I look through the peephole. Normal, yes. When I see it's people trying to convert me or bring the word into my house, I grab a pipe, my baby and any other thing I can to do make them uncomfortable and think I'm the worst.

IDK why, but it's nice to make a statement that says, "I do what I want! I roll with gangs!"
DH had some special roommates in college, and one made a crucifix with tickle me Elmo that had been transplanted with a Taz noise machine in its belly. That kept the missionaries at bay. Another guy stole the no candy sign from another house on Halloween because he thought it was funny, and found out later it was the sign registered sex offenders had to put up by law. X_X They were truly talented at repelling visitors.
THAT's what those mean? Good lord. We have like, three within two blocks. I'm not even kidding here.

I do it once you're allowed to have your tray tables down and then un-recline it before landing when they make you stow everything. I'm not that much of a rebel.

ETA: Really no rebel at all. Unless you talk to my MIL about my crazy ideas concerning my child - no cereal yet, swaddling at sleep time, etc. <Gasp> it's un-American.
I misunderstood, so more like time of day than time of flight. I really despise the people that recline during takeoff, after the attendant has come by to make sure everyone's seats are upright.
• Oh, and I make a lot of bottles with an ice cube in it in case I don't know if she's going to finish it right away and I can't make it to a fridge. I'd rather throw the measurements off ever so slightly than waste any. Formula is expensive.

• My old neighbor was a RSO, but because his ex-gf's parents didn't approve of their relationship and called the police. He was 19 and she was 16. Really crappy situation IMO.

Whaaa? What's the age of consent there?
18 in Wisconsin. Texas is probably 18 too..? (Feel free to correct me, native texans!)
17 in TX

I know two people who were both 14 at the time, they were both convicted of child sex abuse and rape when the girl got KU.

When it comes to sex crimes, I acknowledge that there can be exceptions that seem unfair, however the statutory laws are in place to protect children, and more often than not true victims of abuse are the ones failed by the justice system, not those accused. All laws have the potential to be "unfairly" enforced because of spirit of the law vs. letter of the law. Regardless of the fewer unfortunate boyfriend/girlfriend with slight age gap situations that occur, these laws need to exist.

There are far more sex abuse victims that are not getting justice than innocent people getting charged with sex crimes and ending up on offender lists.

@KendraColeslaw the tone is not intended to sound like I'm chewing you out. Just had to share my 2 cents.
• LO is sound asleep in my arms, her older sister smells like she's pooped. DH will be home in ten minutes. LO has been sleeping so crappy lately I am going to wait the 10 min and let him tackle DD's diaper. I'm still hoping it was just gas (normally she likes to announce her poops and she hasn't yet..) because letting her wait is making me feel like the worlds worst mom.
• I wholeheartedly agree with @knotty-girl‌. The laws are there to protect the victims, not some kid who pees in a park or who's under aged girlfriend's parents don't like him. Sorry but tough luck. I have personally known two people, on two separate occasions, who have been busted Chris Hanson style in a sting operation trying to have sex with 8-14 year old girls. Nobody should even know one pedophile, let alone two, in their ordinary life. But how do you know you don't? These experiences have changed the way I look at the laws regarding sex crimes. Get these guys off the streets every way possible, I don't care how unfair it seems to the couple of guys who don't deserve the status of RSO. Collateral damage. Whatever.

• I'm with you Dani. We thought it would take awhile to get pregnant so weren't ready for it so quickly. I found out on the 18th. My dh was on a business trip all week and I pretty much knew from symptoms what was going on but had not confirmed. That giant vodka and soda tasted so terrible I only had two sips and the next day I just knew. Right now a year ago I was still living large. We had a huge year last year our style before trading it in.
• Haha Poppy your JW story makes me think of how my brother answered the door to 2 JW ladies naked last week. It's totally douchey and dickish, but it might actually be a while before they try to bring him into the fold again. Options...
• Religious solicitors drive me up the wall. I'm very much of the opinion that "Religions are like a penis - it's fine to have one, but don't go waving it around and shoving it down my throat!" "Waving it around", to me, includes knocking on my door and waking my pregnant zombie ass up. If I wanted to experience your church, I'd have gone already! That lady got the door slammed in her face. :P

• Wow. The age of consent was 14 when I lost my virginity, and in 2008 they raised it to 16...which is still funny because there's a provision that says if you're 14 or 15, you can still consent as long as the person isn't more than 5 years older than you. Loopholes for the win!

That's crazy!! It's 17 here but can be consensual as long as they're no more than 3 years older. I can't imagine a 13 year old and 18 year old having sex... unless there's a minimum age of 14? But still, 14 and 19? 15 and 20?

FFSC: I let my kid pet MIL's dog then eat her hands. It's a weiner dog so it's not like she's eating a handful of hair or anything. I'm also always surprised when offer to wash their hands before holding her. Unless their hands are obviously dirty, it's just not something I think of...

I happened to get sent the brochure to a new day care in our area which also happens to be the only I've seen we could afford. It would mean both DH and I could go back to work and after we paid day care out of his salary he'd still have around £300 left over to put in the joint account with my salary. This would mean he wouldn't have to give up work and we wouldn't be living on beans and bread.

I deleted the email and didn't tell DH because I feel physically sick about putting DD in day care and leaving her with strangers. I'd rather DH watch her.

I would have done the same thing, with no guilt.
