Pardon my canadian... But im starting to get the feeling that in and out of five guys is not what i was thinking and its some type of food chain? Well if so! Hook me up i wanna be in and out of five guys too
Haha it's a burger joint. Theyre not bad depending on which one you go to, a few steps up from most fast food joints. You can also get different toppings and Cajun French fries. Damn, now I want five guys again
Haha around here if i said "damn now i want five guys" id deff get side eyed
Because I'm feeling stabby today: apparently my UO is that I really really don't get posting an u/s pic for random interwebz strangers to try and figure out my child's genitalia. Am I missing something? :-/
but then they get all butt hurt that we won't play around and tell them what they are having before their doctor can even tell!
Although it leaves room for someone to say "Congrats, it's a puppy!", of which I'm always a fan. Those always give me a good chuckle. I guess I always just chalk it up to excitement and the need to share with everyone even though most of us are not healthy professionals (at least I'm not).
everyone in the mayo on fries club: chipotle or sriracha mayo, y'all. it's the bomb effin' diggity.
(yes, i know i'm showing my age there. lol)

I hate it when parents use the excuse 'they're just boys, and boys will be boys' when their child does something wrong.
No. Don't excuse it, correct it. They won't be boys forever.
Agree
Not only do I agree, but how far are we expected to let "boys be boys?" Because it's definitely NOT ok to always assume boys will be misbehaved/are incapable of acting appropriately.
BBQ is the most overrated cuisine there is. My in laws are in kc, and they act like it's manna from heaven. No. Usually i find that it's dry, bland, and boring.
Have they not taken you to Oklahoma Joe's?!?? Delish!!
I feel like as a native Oklahoman I should know what this is, but I have never heard of it...
It's a Kansas City BBQ restaurant...really very little to do with Oklahoma. Go figure! But it's wonderful and delicious. Nothing like burnt ends! Mmmm...
I never heard of poutine (sp?) before this site. It sounds disgusting and I have no desire to try it. (Live in west Michigan.)
If you're like my Michigander you probably eat Pickled Bologna and drink Verners ;-) which I find discusting!
Vernor's disgusting?! Blasphemy!!!! I cant stand ginger ale, but will drink a Vernors in a second. Also love Vernors float. Michigan Born and raised!!! Thankfully they sell it in texas now. Along with Faygo

+1 for OK Joes. They have the best fries there, and my 2nd favorite bbq in the city. Unfortunately we end up there on sundays and they are closed then.

This is really unpopular in the BF community, but I'm really open to supplementing with formula right away if we have latching issues. My own experience has led me to see it as helpful and not detrimental to supply if done properly.

I haaate that excuse. Of course toddlers and kids can be expected to behave poorly from time to time (boys AND girls), but that doesn't make it totally permissible.

My SIL had a boy last January and says that she hopes we have a boy "so they can be little shits together." I know kids misbehave from time to time, testing boundaries and all that. However, I don't think it's fun or exciting to think that they'll be "little shits." I'd actually like to try and correct that behavior. Having fun and being playmates who are close in age, now that sounds cute! Plus, I'm pretty sure they can play together even if I have a girl...
Just another UO, I guess. I had fun playing with my boy cousins, too.

I've thought about doing this too. DD lost quite a bit of weight at the beginning, especially before we got into our nursing groove so I did have to supplement a little. I do like the idea of not being so stressed all the time of whether or not I'm producing enough. I would still nurse, pump as much.
Bfing is supply and demand so if your baby is supplemented before your milk comes in, there will be less demand, simple as that. That's not to say you can't go on to successfully breastfeed, but until your milk comes in and an abundant supply is established, the more sucking the better, and ideally from baby's mouth not a pump.
Common for babies to lose up to 10 percent of their birth weight before your milk comes in on day 3+. Nothing to be concerned about health wise with that so long as wet diapers are still coming and baby isn't acting lethargic. If you had IV during the labor, they may lose more, since IV in labor is associated with more fluid retention which makes for a slightly inflated birth weight

Yep, I'm aware of the regular/normal weight loss. The concern was that she had lost a great deal more than that, so much so that we had to return to her pediatrician a few times in the week after she was born since she was losing so much weight so rapidly (as opposed to just the one follow-up check after birth for weight check among other things). The doc recommended supplementing with formula until things settled down and we got into nursing. Pretty stressful time but we eventually got into the routine. As I said, this time around I won't as hard on myself/stressed. I still plan on nursing as much regularly possible but supplementing here and there while pumping/nursing just to take the pressure off of "will I make enough", or "will I be able to save up enough for the next day when I go to work", etc will make life a little more enjoyable.
ETA To add: I even went out and bought a baby scale that first week since I was a wreck! First Time mom nerves!! The ped looked at me and asked if I could still return it, lol.

I understand how supply is established early on, but I think some people just respond well to the pump. I was one if those people. I cup fed initially and so much milk gets lost that early on I had to supplement with formula to keep up wet diapers. It worked out just fine though so I'm not worried about the impact of supplementing small amounts over a short period as long as I am able to pump as well.
When we did switch to nursing I found that it was easier for us to work on the latch if he had a very small amount of milk and he wasn't super hungry and mad. It was less stressful for both of us because he was less frantic. I definitely will attempt BFing without pumping or supplementing initially. I'm just open to trying other things if I think it might help.
And FWIW I felt like there was other conventional BF wisdom didn't really apply in our situation so I feel much more confident this time around not following "rules." I'm hoping that it will help me avoid some of the BF struggles that I had last time. Sometimes it is good to listen to your own intuition too.
My disclaimer on this is that I worked with LCs, nurses, and our pediatrician. I think it is good for new moms in particular to work with people that have expertise.
