I personally don't care about who puts what where. I scroll past it. People always have something to say, whether it is good, bad, right or wrong. No one is ever pleased.
I do have an issue with the following: car dealerships give loans to people with work authorization visas. These are 5-6 year loans given to people who have visas that are good for 2 years. that does not guarantee you are going to be approved to become citizen or a permanent resident in the US. Why?
I think its an awesome idea to "normalize breast feeding" but at times I think things like national breast feeding awareness week/month is just glorifying it when it doesn't need to be. Feed your kid. End of story.
The bolded. How is it not normal? I think BFing groups saying it's not normal, is making it not normal.
Andplusalso, I may live in the armpit of 'Merica, but I saw a new mother BFing in a booth at Buffalo Wild Wings and NO ONE batted an eye. The waiter was like whatever, me sitting in full view was like whatever, the table next to me was like whatever.
So, STOP trying to make fetch happen BFing groups!
Also, nice use of a gif.
In the fine state of SC people want you to put your boobies away. I have never seen someone BF in public here. A lot of girls my age here have the same attitude about BF as batmandi,
Clearly, no one should give a fuck what people think if you are capable to BF and do so in public...maybe that's the issue? People do give a fuck, and they need to stop giving a fuck?

Because maybe they need a car too? And the visas can (and are usually) renewed while you go through the green card and/or citizenship process.
But you don't need to take out a 5-6 year loan to get a car. You can buy used and buy it outright, get a shorter loan, or better yet, lease.
Yea exactly because America is greedy LOL it's crazy to me. There is a lot of risk doing that, though. And we wonder why we are in so much debt.
And I do understand these people want a car, but they don't need one. They can use buses or save for a car or even take a shorter term out, and I'm not blaming the individual, I'm blaming the laws allowing this. Just because you are on the road to entering the country legally, it's not guaranteed. In fact that's why we have a lot of illegal immigrants in the US, because they overstay their visa. These loans can be defaulted on WAY to easy, IMO.
I have several friends that do it (it's now becoming all the rage here) and most all of them have some serious injury they've gotten from CF. I have not looked into it (the training, techniques, workouts, etc.) because it scares the crap out of me. I lifted in high school and went through serious training to learn all the proper techniques to avoid injury. Doing Olympic type lifts for time just doesn't sound safe to me.
I've seen tons of stuff on my FB about breastfeeding week, too. I've "liked" some articles so maybe they show up on my friend's feeds? I am not sure really. But most of the stuff I see is like articles and encouragement and Kellymom stuff. It's not people's statuses going "I am so awesome because I breastfeed." I totally believe people do that, though - I just don't see it that much.
I agree that it is annoying if people are really horn-tooting. I feel the same way when I see people posting stuff about how awesome teachers are. I revere the teaching profession, but it really grinds my gears how much teachers love to pat themselves on the back. I have a lot of teacher friends and a LOT of them do it. It's like, yes I know you have a thankless job and don't get paid well, and I totes respect what you do.... but shut up.
I don't disagree with you and I think that when people in any profession pat themselves on the back too much, it can be obnoxious. I am not a teacher, but I am a school psychologist, so I do see a lot of this. I think very often teachers say things like that to defend themselves. I can't tell you how often I hear people state that teachers don't work hard because they have the summer off.
@carriet2018 and @Amjoy25 - I thought the comment about cycling was referring to riding bicycles. I literally rolled my eyes and thought 1)how do they have time to workout and 2)if this turns into a work out board I am quitting.
I think its an awesome idea to "normalize breast feeding" but at times I think things like national breast feeding awareness week/month is just glorifying it when it doesn't need to be. Feed your kid. End of story.

STOP GIVING A FUCK, AND FEED YO BABY!
and that's the purpose of normalizing breastfeeding. some people apparently don't think it's normal (that @emilyusc211 pointed out), which is why they don't do it in public. it's a reminder for those who are not mothers, or it had been a long time since they were mothers, that breastfeeding is a method of feeding their babies. or as you put it, to stop giving a fuck about what others do, because it's normal.

A good CF gym teaches to skill level and should be using light or no weights to begin. I was told to do good form first and we add weight later...same with all the exercises.
Bf can feel very isolating, and people get weird and offended if you dare leave your home and feed your kid (just read the comments on any bf link on fb). Especially if you live in an area where bf is not the norm, you get looks and criticism often. It sucks.
I guess this is my uo, bf is fucking hard and I am proud that I made it because I didn't think I would. My entire day revolves around my kid being attached to me and dh can't help me feed dd. I like that it gets some recognition for how hard it can be, but it is in no way ever made to make anyone feel bad, ever. Like you said, it's physically impossible for some and others just choose not to, and that's ok too. Bf moms getting some praise/recognition is never meant to put down ff moms at all. I'm sorry if it makes anyone feel that way.
Just to play devils advocate...I find it super demanding to have a full time job, go to school for my doctorate (no one can help me with this), to find time to exercise, to feed myself and my family, clean my house, etc...but I'm not constantly tooting my horn about all the things I do with constant FB updates.
So, I get that it's tough, but just like me, it's something you chose to do and therefore should be proud of it. I don't need a daily update about how hard your (not you specifically) lyyyyyyffffffeeeeee is.
#whereareMYsupermommemes
ZOMG! SAME BRAIN! My head went to this comparison too!
So we all chose to have kids right? Well do to that we have to feed them/put a roof over their head/clothe them. Well i work, its freaking hard to miss things my baby does throughout the day. But i don't jump up and down about it and pat myself on the back, i mean sure i am proud of my work, but that is my choice. in order to do things for my family, i need to work. the end. Im sure there are moms that stay at home and are resentful bc they want to work, but that is where they are at right now based on the choices they have made as a family. BFing is the same thing, that is a choice you made as a family, you need to feed your baby. I BFed for 4 months and it WAS/IS hard! congratulations to all that do it! seriously, i mean that. but it goes back to my UO from last week "as a mother i put myself last..." we all put ourselves in the situations we are in, however we decide to manage our lives is cool. But we don't need a pow wow for every accomplishment. do i get a medal for fitting 2 strollers in my car yesterday?
--------------------------------------------------
Late to the party so I am just seeing this now and wanted to #lovetit 1000 times. Should I mention I was late because I am working. Do I get a medal? Should we have #normalizework week??
Edit: broken quote
YES! I proclaim you the official Normalize Working Moms Week as your project!
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there a nurses appreciation week@Amjoy25? ...haha just saying!
All I know, is BF is not normalized where I am. One of my friends who has 4 kids used the peeing in public comparison to BFing the other day. People think it is immodest here and it makes me ragey. That is why I post articles celebrating women who BF. But I don't post about how great I am. There is just a major stigma where I live about BFing in public.
There is! I didn't start the week; clearly, I'm old, but not that old.
Also, YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME POSTING ALL WEEK HOW IT IS SO AWESOME THAT I AM A NURSE. NEVER!
The TX WIC office has a pro-BFing radio ad. At the end of it it says "TX law gives moms the right to BF anywhere they have a legal right to be". It's sad that the state has to put out anti-BFing-harrassment messages out.
We also have laws about killing people, soooooooooooooooooooooooooo..... #Mericahasnocommonsense #gottaprotectpeopleandtellthemwhattodoconstantly
@ElleStaxx I just disagree that the "normalize" campaign is what is making it abnormal. It was seen as abnormal long before that. If you never saw any negativity about breastfeeding before, that is awesome! I have a feeling it is partly regional or depends on your family, etc.
Some members of my family treat BF as abnormal, or BF past the first few weeks. Some are supportive, some aren't.
I think being a working mom has become more normal now, but not after a lot of hard work by feminists in the 60s-80s. I bet women in the 70s would have LOVED to have people in the media/popular culture sticking up for them constantly, attempting to sway people's attitudes toward them.
I don't personally care what celebrities do - I barely know who any of them are. I think most of us on here are educated and intelligent and don't need celebrity examples. And sometimes it annoys me to see those headlines, too. But I like it a lot more than the headlines about celebrities doing drugs or whatever. Maybe it will encourage someone to try breastfeeding when the rest of their friends/family/community are telling them that it is gross or will ruin their body.
this exactly. bf is weird in my own family. when i first had dd, my mom used to always ask me to go to the bathroom to feed dd. she thought it was absurd that i would feed her in the food court at costco. my dad makes a scene every time (and still does) i feed my kids in my own living room. he sighs (breathes loudly?) and leaves the room. this is minor, compared to him yelling at me before, saying i was disrespectful of people in the room and always asked me to leave. my FIL and my h had a blowup because he said i was disrespecting him for breastfeeding in front of him.
when i was first starting out, i let them get to me. i used to hide in my baby's room and nurse. i remember telling a friend who was visiting that "you can come sit in there with me, but your husband cannot". this is because i, myself, did not know this was normal. when we went out, i used to sit in my car, and hang jackets up behind the sun visors, so nobody could see inside. i utilized the "nursing room" at the mall (which is filled with white stains, NEVER AGAIN).
my cousin had mentioned to me, something about breastfeeding..and how she used to hide to do it, too. and that's when i realized that she even breastfed at all. i had never seen it before (and our families are close). breastfeeding did not even occur to me as a *thing* until i had my baby. i honestly didn't even give it any thought until i was 8ish months pregnant with dd. that's because i had never seen it.
tl;dr - my family thinks bf is weird, and still does. i've always been a rebel. the more they hate it, the bigger advocate i am for normalizing.
a lot of nurses #notamjoy fall into the ZOMG! the lyfe of a nurse! no one works as hard as us!!!!! nurses appreciation week, kiss a nurse, lick our face! we are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
when the fluck is contract furniture independent sale representative week?
so many ppl in this world need to get the flop over themselves. live your life. get your validation from your husband, boss, or children like normal ppl. why do we have to bring everyone and their mother into this unity circle of praising ourselves?
I am tired of hearing about breastfeeding and bottle feeding. Feed your baby with your boob or a bottle, I don't care, just makes sure they are fed. Use your boob or your bottle in public, I don't care. I only give a shit if your throw your boob or you bottle in my face (literally or figuratively).

Gah, my SIL is the QUEEN of posting those lame FB memes about how fuckin awesome nurses are. Then again, she is the queen of reposting a floppity billion FB memes. #tryanoriginalthought
THAT IS MY UO!!! I hate 90% of re-posted FB memes, unless they contain something truly insightful. I would much rather hear your thoughts in your own words than read something you skimmed for 5 seconds and 'shared'.

@carriet2018 I kind of agree with you but I don't think that is comparable to something like BF awareness week. No one thinks you are gross or weird for being a contract furniture sales rep (or whatever that was).
I think there's a difference between horn-tooting and awareness/normalization.

There is no proctologist week either. Not everything needs a week.

But some people do think I am a bad mom for leaving my kid at daycare and going to work. Maybe not bad, but they give me "the look". If I had a dollar for every time someone said "oh I would never leave my kid", I could afford to SAH.
Yup.
"Oh, you're going back to work?" I heard that many times....from PATIENTS. YES, I'M YOUR DOCTOR IDIOT!
@Amjoy25 since breastfeeding is the most natural thing you can do, does that mean formula feeding is unnatural? I want to request a naturalize formula feeding week.
Kidding. Kidding.
#normalizedormulafeeding
Nevermind, just saw the working mom day, LOL.
I just want to reiterate that BF week is not to celebrate people who BF. Correct me if I am wrong though.
It's not, but some of the language rubs me the wrong way. Goal #1...thanks for making me feel like an asshole. Obviously, I'm not providing high quality nutrients to my child. Which can be debated if you are eating fucking Oreos all day.
Sinc up all you want O13 ladies. I will be happy if Aunt Flow keeps her distance for a while longer.
My UO: I hate it when people try extreme haggling at garage sales. Marked for a dollar? Sure I"ll take 50 cents. But if there is a larger item marked at a higher price, say $50 I will not take $10. Don't argue with me when you know $50 is already a good price. Only reasonable offers will be entertained people.
Not interested in paying something close to asking price? Quit fondling my "treasures" and move on.

Goal #1 is relating to eradicating extreme poverty and hunger...and breastfeeding can been a tool for those in that situation to use to feed their babies, where they don't have access to or can't afford formula to provide nutrition. I don't think they meant in any way to demean people who formula feed by that goal.

Did you see the article the bump put out for breastfeeding week? It was pretty terrible. Top 10 reasons to BF or something like that.
This is September 5, 1982, not September 5 of every year.... Right? So we dont get a day every year... FML... Just Saying.
yeah, it was the best i could google though. one day is still better than no days? there are a lot more of us in the workforce these days though, more than there were in the 80's.
Re: UUUUUUUUOOOOOOO?!11?
Monies. Because, 'Merica.
Clearly, no one should give a fuck what people think if you are capable to BF and do so in public...maybe that's the issue? People do give a fuck, and they need to stop giving a fuck?
