I personally don't care about who puts what where. I scroll past it. People always have something to say, whether it is good, bad, right or wrong. No one is ever pleased. I do have an issue with the following: car dealerships give loans to people with work authorization visas. These are 5-6 year loans given to people who have visas that are good for 2 years. that does not guarantee you are going to be approved to become citizen or a permanent resident in the US. Why?

    Monies. Because, 'Merica.

Because maybe they need a car too? And the visas can (and are usually) renewed while you go through the green card and/or citizenship process.

But you don't need to take out a 5-6 year loan to get a car. You can buy used and buy it outright, get a shorter loan, or better yet, lease.

Yea exactly because America is greedy LOL it's crazy to me. There is a lot of risk doing that, though. And we wonder why we are in so much debt.

And I do understand these people want a car, but they don't need one. They can use buses or save for a car or even take a shorter term out, and I'm not blaming the individual, I'm blaming the laws allowing this. Just because you are on the road to entering the country legally, it's not guaranteed. In fact that's why we have a lot of illegal immigrants in the US, because they overstay their visa. These loans can be defaulted on WAY to easy, IMO.

I've seen tons of stuff on my FB about breastfeeding week, too. I've "liked" some articles so maybe they show up on my friend's feeds? I am not sure really. But most of the stuff I see is like articles and encouragement and Kellymom stuff. It's not people's statuses going "I am so awesome because I breastfeed." I totally believe people do that, though - I just don't see it that much.

I agree that it is annoying if people are really horn-tooting. I feel the same way when I see people posting stuff about how awesome teachers are. I revere the teaching profession, but it really grinds my gears how much teachers love to pat themselves on the back. I have a lot of teacher friends and a LOT of them do it. It's like, yes I know you have a thankless job and don't get paid well, and I totes respect what you do.... but shut up.
I don't disagree with you and I think that when people in any profession pat themselves on the back too much, it can be obnoxious.  I am not a teacher, but I am a school psychologist, so I do see a lot of this.  I think very often teachers say things like that to defend themselves.  I can't tell you how often I hear people state that teachers don't work hard because they have the summer off.

    UO: I don't get Crossfit.

I have several friends that do it (it's now becoming all the rage here) and most all of them have some serious injury they've gotten from CF. I have not looked into it (the training, techniques, workouts, etc.) because it scares the crap out of me. I lifted in high school and went through serious training to learn all the proper techniques to avoid injury. Doing Olympic type lifts for time just doesn't sound safe to me.

A good CF gym teaches to skill level and should be using light or no weights to begin. I was told to do good form first and we add weight later...same with all the exercises.

ETA it's deft not for everyone.

Bf can feel very isolating, and people get weird and offended if you dare leave your home and feed your kid (just read the comments on any bf link on fb). Especially if you live in an area where bf is not the norm, you get looks and criticism often. It sucks. I guess this is my uo, bf is fucking hard and I am proud that I made it because I didn't think I would. My entire day revolves around my kid being attached to me and dh can't help me feed dd. I like that it gets some recognition for how hard it can be, but it is in no way ever made to make anyone feel bad, ever. Like you said, it's physically impossible for some and others just choose not to, and that's ok too. Bf moms getting some praise/recognition is never meant to put down ff moms at all. I'm sorry if it makes anyone feel that way.

Just to play devils advocate...I find it super demanding to have a full time job, go to school for my doctorate (no one can help me with this), to find time to exercise, to feed myself and my family, clean my house, etc...but I'm not constantly tooting my horn about all the things I do with constant FB updates.

So, I get that it's tough, but just like me, it's something you chose to do and therefore should be proud of it. I don't need a daily update about how hard your (not you specifically) lyyyyyyffffffeeeeee is.

    #whereareMYsupermommemes

ZOMG! SAME BRAIN! My head went to this comparison too!

So we all chose to have kids right? Well do to that we have to feed them/put a roof over their head/clothe them. Well i work, its freaking hard to miss things my baby does throughout the day. But i don't jump up and down about it and pat myself on the back, i mean sure i am proud of my work, but that is my choice. in order to do things for my family, i need to work. the end. Im sure there are moms that stay at home and are resentful bc they want to work, but that is where they are at right now based on the choices they have made as a family. BFing is the same thing, that is a choice you made as a family, you need to feed your baby. I BFed for 4 months and it WAS/IS hard! congratulations to all that do it! seriously, i mean that. but it goes back to my UO from last week "as a mother i put myself last..." we all put ourselves in the situations we are in, however we decide to manage our lives is cool. But we don't need a pow wow for every accomplishment. do i get a medal for fitting 2 strollers in my car yesterday?
-------------------------------------------------- Late to the party so I am just seeing this now and wanted to #lovetit 1000 times. Should I mention I was late because I am working. Do I get a medal? Should we have #normalizework week?? Edit: broken quote
YES! I proclaim you the official Normalize Working Moms Week as your project!

I don't even read that shit. Keep scrolling.

  • The TX WIC office has a pro-BFing radio ad. At the end of it it says "TX law gives moms the right to BF anywhere they have a legal right to be". It's sad that the state has to put out anti-BFing-harrassment messages out.

We also have laws about killing people, soooooooooooooooooooooooooo..... #Mericahasnocommonsense #gottaprotectpeopleandtellthemwhattodoconstantly

@carriet2018‌ I kind of agree with you but I don't think that is comparable to something like BF awareness week. No one thinks you are gross or weird for being a contract furniture sales rep (or whatever that was). I think there's a difference between horn-tooting and awareness/normalization.
    tell that to interior designers.....

There is no proctologist week either. Not everything needs a week.

@Amjoy25‌ since breastfeeding is the most natural thing you can do, does that mean formula feeding is unnatural? I want to request a naturalize formula feeding week. Kidding. Kidding. #normalizedormulafeeding

Nevermind, just saw the working mom day, LOL. I just want to reiterate that BF week is not to celebrate people who BF. Correct me if I am wrong though.

It's not, but some of the language rubs me the wrong way. Goal #1...thanks for making me feel like an asshole. Obviously, I'm not providing high quality nutrients to my child. Which can be debated if you are eating fucking Oreos all day.

This is September 5, 1982, not September 5 of every year.... Right? So we dont get a day every year... FML... Just Saying.
yeah, it was the best i could google though. one day is still better than no days? there are a lot more of us in the workforce these days though, more than there were in the 80's.
