Prenatal vitamins

The thought of taking them makes me want to vomit and I gag each time I do! Anyone else, and is there other options than the prenatal in one vitamin and the dha in another? The smell of the dha makes me nauseated. Help!

  • I take prenatal gummy vitamins that include DHA, it's the only way I can stomach them everyday.

  • Buy buy baby has some gummies
  • Gummies are good as long as you don't need the iron. Nature Made has a prenatal vitamin gel cap that contains DHA (one pill).

  • Try a natural vitamin that doesn't have synathic ingredients. I take New Chapter Perfect Prenatal and it doesn't hurt your stomach. You can also find other varieties like rainbowlight.
  • I got my gummies at Target.

  • I'm gagging them down each. Isn't. I know how important they are to get the nutrients that I might not be getting each day. I've seen the tummies at Target too.

  • Eat before you take them and then also take B6. It will make it easier. Target has gummy ones but I am not a fan of either. I never took them regularly the first time around and my kid turned out just fine and healthy! But take them when you can or when you remember.
  • I love the gummy ones and I get them at Walmart.
  • I could then just take an iron pill in addition, correct!?
  • Yep, taking your pills in a combo is just fine. I personally take a prenatal, then an omega fish oil gel capsule, then an extra b- complex gummie to stop nausea (also for extra folic acid).

    Yes, assuming you need it.

If you have trouble finding the gummies, make sure you ask the pharmacist where they are...those things are a lifesaver!

  • Have you tried taking them before bed? That might be an easier way to get those bad boys to stay down :)
  • I could then just take an iron pill in addition, correct!?

Yes. Remember it binds to calcium &many antacids so don't take it with dairy.
  • Ugh I just saw this and realized I have forgotten to take mine 2 days in a row :(
  • I take NatureMade which are one pill vs. two and take them before bed so that by the time my stomach starts turning I'm sound asleep. Switching to a vitamin that was just one pill definitely helped with the gag factor.
  • I take the same nature made as the other posters and take it at night before bed, along with a b complex vitamin and my progesterone. The vitamins are huge, but don't bother my stomach.

  • I had the same issue. I spoke to my doctor and she recommended taking after dinner/before bed. This has made a HUGE difference with my nausea and I'm feeling a 180' difference.
  • Take them RIGHT before you go to bed! You won't notice any nausea while you're sleeping!

  • I couldn't stomach any prenatals so my OB told me to take 2 flinstones complete vitamins every day and I have been great with those!
  • My doctor gave me a shitton of samples to try and I realized that I need a petite gelcap looking pill, which are the only ones that don't make me gag. I also take mine in the afternoon (after lunch) and have not gotten nauseous at all. When I was taking them in the morning, even with breakfast, I was still getting sick off them.

  • I looooove the VitaFusion gummies. I have a version with DHA. I got them on Amazon.
  • I have been taking them in the evening, with food so not on an empty stomach. It is more the smell and size that gag me. Last night I slept with a bowl cause I was dry heaving! Ugh...
  • I found the gummy ones at Meijer yesterday and they have DHA as well. Started taking them and they are so much better.
  • Ive personally put NO research into this but my friends ob told her 2 Flintstones vitamins equals a prenatal. Dont know if there's any truth to it, but maybe worth looking into if its that bad??
  • I have the gummies from whole foods but I will shamelessly confess I haven't been religious about the vitamins at all. Another side effect of my nausea.
