I never said that. I know the history behind that word. And how people with disabilities were treated not that long ago. The people that I help live their lives as independently as they possibly can in the community were treated really bad when they were younger and got called that name. You sounded completely ignorant saying it at all whether it was directed at anyone or not. The word is no longer used. That is the point.

Wow, this thread became a deja vu nightmare of a previous friend of mine, who went all agro on her newborn baby because she felt like her getting pregnant ruined her life and her 9 month relationship with the baby daddy.

A debate about the proper term for mentally and physically disabled people is how it started....needless to say, after how psychotic she went, we aren't friends anymore and I feel bad for her baby because the poor child has to live with her for the next 16 years of her life (she's 2 now, was only 2 months when this all happened). For her sake, I hope the minute she turns 18 she runs for the hills, because her mom is whacked!
