I don't know about starting a registry I personally have never done one. But I have already started buying items that aren't gene see specific. Soaps, lotions, bottles, undershirts, a few yellow towels washcloths, bought a white bassinet also it was on sale and doesn't matter the sex when it's all white.
We have started a couple registries with all the pertinent stuff. Crib, bedding (doing Pooh and friends theme), bottles, towels, bath tub, stroller, car seat, pack n play, etc. We won't be adding any clothing or toys to them until we find out the sex of the baby. We've given out our registries to a few family members who wanted to start buying stuff now, but won't be handing them out to anyone else until the baby shower planning. It was my first time doing a registery of any kind, and I had to follow Babies R Us' checklist to make sure we got everything we will need on there. I never realized just how much stuff you need in order to care for a baby. I think, combined, all the stuff we have on the registries, more than doubles the crap that hubby and I have accumulated over the years. Sheesh! Good luck and have fun with it!
I already made one but its for my own personal use. You coild make one now and just put gender neutral stuff on it then later add the items that are gender oriented.

We have been going in the stores we plan to register at just to look so we can do research on many of the bigger items. We will officially register after the gender reveal-mid September!
We're moving right after we do the a/s so I haven't bought anything yet. I've started looking at neutral stuff already (I'm team green) and picked a few things here and there but my husband is gonna finish it up when he finds out the sex.
@StephanieLBerg the BRU check list has a ton of stuff you dont really need. At least it did in 2013 when I registered for my DS. I had WAAAY too much stuff I didnt need with him. and I actually didnt get everything on their check list lol
I agree most registry checklist are full of useless stuff. you dont need everything on those list. taken them into consideration lightly i would look at them and make a list of wha you know you have to have an need add of that firat then go back and look for the things you will probably use and then the it would just be nice to haves.

DH and I already started a few. Right now its more of a wish list of things we like. Mostly big ticket items like nursery furniture, stroller, pack n play... etc. Our color scheme will be gray and white, so it doesnt matter what the sex of baby is. We will add accents of color later but considering sticking with mint or tiffany blue... I like them both for a boy or girl. So there really isnt a reason to wait to register. I am also making a spreadsheet of all the things we put on the registries and the costs, we we can start to tally and prepare ourselves cost wise for what needs to be purchased.

I can't believe people are participating in this thread after her 420 post!!! LOL
I couldn't believe I did after the shit storm she caused. Damn mobile bumping at midnight and not paying attention. If I were her I would give up on this screen name, and if she wants to stick around make a new account, get a fresh start with a proper intro, and read the "New to Feb 15"

If she can survive a flaming and not be butthurt, Im not going to hold it against her... at least not until the next ridiculous thread. lol

Sorry no forgive and forget from me after the "retarted children" comment. Why do you want opinions from such negative people that you clearly don't like anyway?

I didn't notice it was the same person until you pointed it out! I'm with @jaztaz1 though, if she can take it and stick around, then good for her. I didn't even bother commenting on the other, I think these other lovely ladies handled it quite well.
As for the registry, we are also waiting until at least the preliminary gender U/S next week at Baby Impressions. After that, we'll probably start registering, but only tell family and probably keep all tags on items so they can be exchanged if needed.

Right? She "doesn't care" about our stupid opinions on smoking weed while pregnant... but she will totes take our advice about registries!

I would wait until about 2 months or so before your shower, otherwise you'll have to update the whole thing more than once because the store will change it's stock.
Started one at 13 weeks. Just for some big things that we didn't want to be gender specific incase we have another! I'll be waiting until the anatomy scan to add more to it.
With DS, we waited until after the A/S. We got neutral colors for the big items so we could use them again with LO#2 but found it easier to just do it all at once. On the items I needed to do research on, we picked one in the store while we were there and I tweeked it a bit online over the next couple weeks.
Oh man ftm here and I have no idea of whAt brands to buy etc... Lots of researching ahead! We won't buy or register til we find out the sex later this month
I did IVF with PGS so I know the sex of my baby. I haven't started my registry yet. Sort of afraid of jinxing anything I guess until I'm further along. And I really like shopping so I don't want it be over too soon.
thank you to those who posted that the stores change out stock and registries will have to be updated.
Actually, now that I think about it - I got myself pretty stressed out just doing my wedding registry - making sure I had just the right stuff, the best prices, etc. Maybe I should get started on my baby registry since as hummingbird pointed out, I know next to nothing and will want to do extra research.

Oh most definitely. I didn't add everything on there either. Just the more pertinent stuff I knew I was going to need, like a breast pump and such (which I think I can get Medicaid to pay for, but on the off chance they won't I added it anyway). I know I'm not going to need 10 baby towels, 12 different sheet sets, and we're cloth diapering rather than disposables. My aunt actually makes the cutest, and most popular, cloth diapers on Etsy for the chic geek. Our family are huge geeks by nature, so having custom embroidered Super Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Star Wars, and Tron diapers are a must have for hubby and I. And her style of diaper is totally unique! She designed it herself! She calls it the Pocket Protector! Such a cute moniker I think. Anywho, getting back to the subject. Yes I noticed that BRU went a little overboard with their checklist, so we only added maybe a 1/3 of what they suggested. I just thought it was a nice reference to be able to follow for those women, like me, who felt completely lost in putting it together! LOL!
Umm @StephanieLBerg those diapers sound epic and awesome. Lol im jealous. If medicaid wont pay for your breast pump WIC might (I know they supply milk bags and the such) And if you dont have WIC already you should, they will totally pay for your food while pregnant. Lol sorry the social worker is coming out of me. https://health.nv.gov/WIC.htm

Thanks for clarifying the WIC for me. One of my customers mentioned it to me yesterday, but wasnt sure if it covered pregnant women. But now that you have said the same thing, I definitely need to get on that. Thanks so much @mandamoochie!

I never said anything bad about children that have mental retardation... I made a comparison. I think that if u have a problem with a post... Then u just shouldn't respond to them.

I never said I smoked! It was a simple question asked because the convo was brought up to me by other moms. If u read the question correctly... I didn't ask for your judgment either... Just fucking go away! I don't care about you guys harassing me wen Im posting.
Btw I need in on this now.. @ahylton08 the term "mental retardation" is considered *extremely* offensive. It hasnt been in the DSM IV or V since 2007. There is an actual federal law against its use. If your interested google "rosa's law". The correct phrase is intellectual disability (ID for short). STOP USING IT. ESPECIALLY IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR SISTER AT ALL.

Huh.
Interesting.
Perhaps you should follow your own advice then and ignore the posts you aren't liking versus arguing and digging yourself into massive holes with offensive and ignorant ideas? JUST A THOUGHT.
Lol what hole? My life will move on regardless of whether or not u like what I post... There are other prego apps btw!

I don't think saying "children with mental retardation" , while certainly not politically correct, is nearly as offensive as the phrase "retarded children". Side note, though, I still totally agree with you.
