Do you play video games, PC,console or otherwise?

I'm not asking if you have time to game, I don't have much time lately but I do try to make time.

Re: Do you game?

  • I put SS because we enjoy playing video games (especially Wii) ...however it's been quite a while since we actually have because things have just been busy/distracting.  Stupid adulthood.

  • Yeah ditto, hubby and I mostly play PC games together. Especially love co-op games, though they are few a d far between. Can't wait to play with DS1 when he is old enough!

  • Yesssss I love pc games, xbox, and playstation. On xbox I was most recently into tomb raider and skyrim. Did Halo for a bit too. Growing up I loved 007 on the n64, and all the supernintendo games. On PC I have loved many games over the years.... Age of Empires series (especially playing online, multiplayer,) The Sims, Sim City, Tomb Raider, Heroes of Might and Magic, Civilization, Roller Coaster Tycoon....  I currently only have a mac air so that means I can't do a whole lot in the way of pc gaming which sucks. My last pregnancy I played skyrim on my xbox pretty much every day.

I miss Super Nintendo... I still have my first one from when I was 7 years old..and with some coaxing and blowing out the dust once in a while, we can still get it to work and play some old school games....not recently unfortunately since things have been busy.

H and I have probably beat Super Mario world 5000 times.

Also, when H and I were younger, we liked to spend our nights staying up for hours playing N64 Mario Kart.  Hours.

  • No, I don't use the word game as a verb. :P

  • Oh and then there's always the Guitar Hero and Rock Band games... we were pretty deep into those for awhile.

  • occasionally I get into various skateboarding/snowboarding games on a console. The only thing I ever liked on my wii is wii fit.

I also used to LOVE need for speed.... especially hot pursuit and need for speed underground on my computer!
  • Back when I was a teenager/in my early 20's. I had atari (does this date me?) and then Nintendo. LOVED Mario.  I ran out of time, and then kinda just lost interest. Now I have different hobbies.

  • I never had my own regular Nintendo (the first one I owned was a Super NES), but my aunt and stepsister had one.... GOOD OL DUCK HUNT.  That damn laughing dog....

  • YES skyrim <3  It's one of the few non-sexist games out there.
  • I put yes, but now that I think about it I'm more a SS.

I game, but more frequently I watch other people play.

As a single player I love silent hill, legend of Zelda.

I think super Mario is pretty much a given, along with donkey kong, soul caliber, and mega man.

I love watching Final Fantasy games too.

  • I go for the RPGs, but when I get into one, I get INTO it. Haven't played a full game since BioShock last spring. I've had the latest episode of The Walking Dead game sitting on the Xbox for a week now and haven't had the time - and I'm on vacation!
  • I've been addicted to dwarf fortress lately. I kind of go between that and Minecraft.

  • My husband and I are both big gamers. We mostly play Xbox 360 games but due to our schedules we haven't played that much lately. When ever he gets a chance he plays Minecraft with his younger brothers. I prefer to play Call of Duty! I like the Black Ops maps more so than the new Ghost ones.

We were both very into Halo Reach when it came out. I actually bought my husband the Xbox 360 Reach edition for Christmas. My students were floored when they found out I played video games especially COD lol during the school year I try to play as much as I can so I can keep up with their scores.
My grandmother is the one who got me into video games. She has an original Nintendo and when I was younger we would play super Mario Bros 3 every weekend together. I also have a Super Nintendo that I bring out when I'm feeling nostalgic. I have all the Mario's, Aladdin and Donkey Kong. When I moved out for college I gave my sister my Play Station but for a brief time in middle school I was obsessed with Metal Gear Solid. It was a simple game but I loved the drama in it!
Funny story: a good friend of mine was past her due date and decided to play COD with us for a few hours. Her and I are very similar in the fact that we both yell at the tv! Lol My husband and I were joking around with her saying that she better calm down or she'd go into labor. That night we got a call around 5am from her husband telling us that they welcomed their baby boy into the world! Lol if I'm over due like she was I'm definitely going to give it a try!

Ditto that, we now have a consistent bedtime and it is amazing. When DS1 was born I think it was about 4 months before my hand touched a mouse. I still remember the feeling, like "wow its been a while"

I also still have an original Atari. It was my uncles and we played together as a kid. I like the MMORPG but I hate the pressure to commit to others in a raid/etc. I like how with single player (or coop with hubby) you can just pause and stop/pick up whenever you feel like it.

  • I loved Oregon trail.  It was the first game I bought for myself when I was in college.  We have a variety of consoles in our house, but Im mostly a PC gamer.  Met the hubby while gaming!  Just wondering how badly a baby is going to mess up my raiding  :))

"Making time to play video games" is a completely foreign concept to me.
  • If you haven't played skyrim, I would highly recommend it. Its very realistic and in depth, best RPG I've played for sure.

  • @stargirlb how do you have time to "game", read historical fiction biographies, obviously workout based on your siggy pic, research and out research fellow bumpies and raise two kids? Damn. I wish I was 24 again..... I'm tired just thinking about it.
  • I could school most friends at Mario and super Mario brothers but that is pretty much the last time I "gamed"... Unless you count when my nephews fire up the old Nintendo at my parents and I show them all who's boss!
  • I have looooong loved The Sims. However, earlier this year, I completely uninstalled it from my computer and gave all my discs to my sister. It was taking up way too much of my time, and I got way too addicted to it.

However...I LOVE RPGs! I'm playing through FFVII again right now (H's favorite game of all time. I like it a lot too), and I replayed Radiata Stories earlier this year. The newest system we have is a PS2...we're super behind. We just can't bring ourselves to spend money on the new stuff when there are still so many amazing games that we can play on our older system.

I have also been a longtime player of Pokemon, although I've never actually beaten a game because it takes so freaking long to raise all your Pokemon. Rawr.

  • @MusicFanatic‌ I had an Atari when I was little! It was my aunts' when they were growing it up and my grandparents kept it. I wouldn't be surprised if they still have it. I loved playing frogger! This thread really makes me miss my Sega Genesis and N64, but alas, they crapped out years ago
I liked playing Pitfall, Centipede and Pac Man :x

  • I love board games, stuff like 7 Wonders, Dominion, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Pandemic, etc... Those are my favorite types of games to play.

My ultimate favorite video game series is the Legend of Zelda series, fav from that is Ocarina of Time on the N64. That was the first console we got when I was in middle school, and we played it like crazy. The other favorite game on N64 I liked was Banjo Kazooie. :)

Before that we had this random subscription to freeware where we'd get semi-crappy games on floppy disks in the mail. My fav old school dos games were Civilization and ZZT (which I think was freeware).

Right now, my favorite game is probably either Civilization 3 (yes, I love that older version), or Little Big Planet on the PS3. I don't play regularly though... just don't have the time!

Oh yeah, LOVE ticket to ride! DH and I play over wifi/bluetooth at home on our iPhones. So fun! Download it if you don't have it.

Thinking back to old school games... I used to love "educational" games like Treasure Mountain, where in the world is carmen sandiego, crayola's Magic Wardrobe, and many more I wish I could remember the names of...

I also loved playing pokemon on an emulator on my pc. And Theme Hospital (such a classic awesome game, still play sometimes,) and Harvest Moon.
  • Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a fun Magic-style card type game and it's free. Popular right now. I enjoyed playing.
  • Oh, and Toejam and Earl anyone?
    Best. Game. Ever.

I pretty much always hated gaming, but I sat down and played that game with my little brother back in the 90s.
