I am eating too much soy

Help! I am not feeling fond of or motivated to cook or eat meat at all. So I've been substituting with vegetarian products. Of course they're almost all soy. I am not comfortable having so much soy but I am at a loss on how to get as much protein as I want/need. Any brilliant ideas?

Maybe buy the precooked rotisserie chickens from the grocery store? They are already cooked and you can usually get them hot :)

EDIT- I obviously skimmed over the part where you said you aren't into eating meat either. Ignore me.

  • Try wheat based like Seiten. Beans and nuts go a long way too. I have some bread from whole foods that is full of seeds and nuts and had 5g of protein in each slice. Many plants have protein too like asparagus, broccoli and spinach. Also check out whole grains like quinoa.

Beans, dairy products and nuts! I also strongly recommend picking up some protein powder and making some shakes. It is the fastest and easiest way to bump up your intake.

I eat a lot of beans and nuts. There is some protein in most plants so eating a varied veggieful diet covers a lot of your protein needs.
If you're really concerned there are dairy free protein powders to add to smoothies or premade vegan protein bars.
If you do lacto-ovo, eggs and dairy stuff have plenty of protein.

  • I think Gardein is soy-free, too. It's all veggie protein and it tastes pretty awesome. Definitely eat beans and peanut butter. Something simple that I actually love is refried beans, a little BBQ sauce, a little ranch dressing, and cheese in a tortilla like a quesedilla. You can add veggies, too.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I should have said I'm specifically looking for meat substitutes. I do eat a lot of nuts, seeds and eggs. I have protein powder, etc.

  • Yogurt and bolthouse protein smoothies were how I supplement when I'm low. Cottage cheese is always good too.
I LOVE bolthouse smoothies!! I also love their ranch dressing. I have been drinking Shakeology shakes. It's a beach body product that's got lots of protein, vitamins and minerals. They have berry, chocolate and vanilla varieties. Only problem is it's expensive. Like $120 per bag that will last you between 15-30 days depending on how many you have a day. I'm also addicted to peanut butter and eat egg salad a couple times a week. Soy "replacements" for meat honestly skeev me out though.

i do love a good smoothie. Yeah, meat replacements can be gross. I've found a couple of really yummy ones, though, that I want to eat all the time. I just know I shouldn't.

If you're not bothered by the price tag I would seriously suggest the Shakeology. I get mine for free because my mom is a coach but even if she wasn't I would still buy it. I feel fuller longer and have so much more energy. And they have a recipe calendar for ideas. The only thing I'll warn you against is that it can take your digestive track a little bit to get used to it but if you're having regularity issues it will certainly help lol!

I think my SIL sells these. I'll have to ask.

I think Field Roast also makes some soy free veggie meats. I love their Smoked Apple Sage sausages!
