There was a post (thread) quite some time back. I think it was on this board. Someone had posted a pic of a business that listed it as one of the services offered.

I feel like it was maybe @Laura8388‌ that posted it?

    Edit: added the word 'thread'

So I'm sitting on the couch watching a cop drama show when I hear our screen door open and then someone start turning the door knob like they are trying to get it. I grab baby and go wake my husband up, he rushes out of bed. Turns out it's our friend staying across the street at my parents. Since they have no hot water she came here to shower. Scared the crap out of me!
But who shows up at someones house to shower without calling or knocking first?

  • @addisonsmom22‌ (and anyone else regarding naps) My doc doesn't ask about his specific naps, just that he does nap and that he's happy. I guess my doc's opinion is that if the kid is growing and happy, and the parents aren't concerned, then doc is happy. (He is continually upgrading and learning as he has a teaching practice and we frequently see a resident at appointments as well)
  • Hiiii everyone! I'm about, oh, 700 posts behind so I'm just gonna jump in here.

@tsmith312‌ The same reason you can't say "baby dust". Just give it a try ;)
I think I might like those ladies.....

When does everyone plan on TTGP?

    never.

But really I have to clue. I'm really leaning towards being one and done. DH wants two. If we have another I would want to have a two year gap. Which would mean we'd be TTC in eight months. The thought makes me want to drink all the drinks.

I've been leaning towards one and done too. Maybe it's because of my crazy recovery and now screwed up body. I think I'll just keep on trucking and wait til the mood strikes us lol

Are there any m14 only children? Just curious what you think of being an only child
  • bjd316 said:

@SomersIsles‌ I'm an only child and I have mixed feelings about it. In one way, I was more spoiled and got 100% of the attention which was fun. However though I always wanted a sibling because all my friends had them.

Now that I'm older I wish I had siblings because I know not all siblings are close but as friends disappear I can't help but wonder if I would have had that best friend sibling of that makes sense.

I will say though it wasn't all bad and I think I turned out just fine ;)

    Edited for spacing

I have one brother but for some reason we are not close at all. We never talk on the phone and I might send him a pic of Robert once in a while on FB. It's odd but it's the way it has been always.

I dream of Robert being best buds one day with his little brother or sister but then I also think about how hard it is raising a child lol. I think that's why I need to just not have plans when your LO is only 4 months old haha

The other issue is that if we have another boy our house can handle that. But if we have a girl we don't have a 3rd bedroom... that could potentially be an expensive gamble

I also wouldn't get on there and ask if your test is positive. Or if your OPK is positive. Or ask anything that's covered in the FAQ sticky. Or anything that can be Googled. I loved it there so much.

trust I wouldn't ask those things , I've lurked enough . It's kind of like asking about your mucus plug on here .

  • @addisonsmom22‌ I think every kid is different when it comes to naps. Don't stress yourself out over it. If she is happy having 1 good nap or prefers a few shorter naps...do what's right for you and Addison.

My twins didn't have start having a regular nap schedule until they'd were 7 months and then it was only afternoons they never had a morning nap. Before that they just napped whenever they were tired. It's what worked for us
  • @babycaps - I'm one of 4 girls too! Well, and 1 boy, but he was an oops later. ;)
  • DH is an only child and wants more than one. I am youngest of two and want more than one. But closer in age than the 6 years between my bro and me. We're close now but we weren't always.
@addisonsmom22‌ LO is still taking cat naps here.

Trying to put my new degree to good use. I've applied with a couple colleges to get into their adjunct pool. Hoping they are willing to sign me up even if I am lacking in experience. I have the knowledge, just need a company willing to take a chance with me.
@disneyaddict1 Here's a tip from the inside - if you can access their class listings, look for schools that have a lot of sections listed as "staff". That typically means "adjunct we haven't hired yet". Most places will have their fall adjuncts lined up already so you may not see much of this, but keep an eye out for when the spring class schedule is posted. My school posts it in early October.

  • @TallAsh‌ I make my 2.5 yr olds wear life jackets at the beach. My dad use to do volunteer coast guard so water safety was a big deal growing up and we always wore our life jackets and we spent every summer weekend at the lake

Can't be too safe with your little ones they are too precious

Would you roll your eyes at kids in life jackets at the beach? I am at the beach with family, but minus my husband. I made my bigs wear life jackets in case I got tied up with Bea and couldn't pay close attention to them. But then I felt self-conscious. Like that's something a non-beach person would do, and the beach people are all like, "OMG, look at that dumb dry lander over there with her kids in life jackets."
No way!  I would totally do the same.  My friend actually bought these really cool life jacket things.  The kids love them and they're adjustable so they last a long time.  I feel like they're way better than other types of floaties.

Anytime we're hanging out at the pool, whether they're swimming or not, they have to keep them on.  I think it's a smart idea... kids wander and if they fall they are generally safe.

  • 1) In terms of baby making... yeah I'm into the idea of one and done now but I know there's a strong chance I'll change my mind later.  So we'll see!

    2) the 4 month sleep regression is not cool.  I've resorted back to both arms in swaddle... such is life..
  • This is the only way anything that took more than 5 mins was being accomplished tonight.
I need to get one of those asap... lol
  • Sometimes I lean toward one and done but the thought of Emma being alone later in life makes me a little sad. Who knows. We may have one more. My H def wants another. It's me who's on the fence.

@TallAsh‌ I wouldn't bat an eye seeing kids in life vests at the beach.

  • We definitely want to start trying for our second in about two years. Husband only wants two total, and while I know that's probably best for our situation, the thought of the next one being the last already makes me sad!

  • We will consider trying in March/April. We definitely want one more. But I am 35 now, and it took me a year of trying for Matthew. Im afraid of 2u2, but also afraid of waiting too long. I guess we will see how the next year plays out.

  • @tallash - we are at the beach almost every weekend and tons of kids wear life jackets. We have a kids kayak and my daughter often keeps on her life jacket for it while she plays even though she can swim.

And thank you for the info on the throat. He actually was bothered by it immediately after surgery. They has to give him a sedative to calm down even though they said he wouldn't need any narcotics. He was very hungry and seemed like his throat was really uncomfortable. I haven't noticed it bothering him since.

We plan to have one more. But I'd like to wait 3 or 4 years. I need Layla to be out of diapers and a bit independent before throwing another one into the mix.

But at he same time, I don't really have a reason for having another besides wanting 1, I would like them to be close, but I have 2 siblings and we're not close. And then my mom is one of 4 , but she's the only one who takes on the burden of my grandparents. Her siblings don't help financially or time wise, even though they have mor space and money.

  • I make my 11&8 year old wear life jackets when the rip current warning flag is up. So pretty much 95% of the time they wear them!
  • I know this is REALLY   random , Moms of 2 year olds. Do you use a stroller for them ?
