I think there should be a law that states once you hit 70 years old you can no longer drive. Period.
this is silly
I've seen too many people around that age and older hurt themselves or others because they can't see over the steering wheel, they have bad vision, or they're weak so that affects their judgement or movements necessary for operating a car.
I hate how much people on TB think CPS needs to be called for every. single. thing. They have more important cases to handle than a dad that has a few beers in the presence of his child.
Just because you don't agree with their parenting choices, doesn't make it CPS worthy.
I have to kind of agree with your UO since I just recently got my car out of the shop because a 76 year old woman rear ended me a few weeks ago. She got the gas pedal, and the brake pedal mixed up.

In general, I agree with you, but in that case I believe people were saying she should call authorities because he was drinking and then driving in the car with the child.

Maybe not 70, but there should definitly be more frequent checks of driving ability. My father will be fine to drive at 70, but that's because that was his profession for 40 years. My cousin on the other hand is 62 and she should be no where near a steering wheel.

I think "leashes" for children should be banned and no longer produced.
Oh for the love of Pete, not this again!! lol
Didn't realize this was a hot topic. I don't participate in every UO or every thread. Don't want to stir any feathers or get any panties in a bunch. Just thought I'd share my feelings.
Wow, that is rough. My mom is 70 and acts and looks more like 55. She is a great driver and widowed and relies on her ability to drive. I fully trust her to drive my kids.
I think it totally depends on the person. I'm sure some 70 yos aren't great drivers and maybe shouldn't be driving, but 70 is really not very old at all in general these days. My grandpa lived to 101, great-grandma was 103, and my aunt is pushing 100.

I think moms who judge other moms on their parenting skills when it comes to situations that do not affect a child's safety are insecure in their own parenting style.

Lol! Ok 75? I just know by 80 it's a bad bad idea haha!

Most people who are always beating down others - on anything - are usually insecure about themselves.
once you hit 70 (or around there) you should be given yearly driving tests. if you pass, then you should still be able to drive. 70 really isn't that old. there are plenty of 70 year old who are completely capable of driving.

I'm a fan of "never say never" for this one. I don't think that I would ever use one, but I also never planned on using a stroller or bedsharing. Yeah, I do both.

Wanted to clarify since I think you're referencing my post.
I don't think a parent who drinks around their kid should have CPS called on them (unless the drinking leads to abusive behavior or whatever, but that's different). But a parent who knowingly places their child at risk by driving drunk with their child in the car should absolutely have CPS called on them.

I planned on wearing DS more than using a stroller. He hates being worn, so I started using our stroller.

It's not just your post. I see the "call CPS" thing all the time on here. My question for you is how do you know he was drunk? A lot of people drink around their kids in a controlled manner.
With the car seat. Michigan law (as I see we are from the same state) is 1 year and 20lbs. Although you may not agree with her choices, it's technically legal for her to FF.
I think the cops need to post someone outside the high school behind my house. The speed limit is 30km....(maybe 15mph) and NONE of the students abide by that. Why does everyone else have to slow down for their safety when they won't?

Makes sense. I know my parenting intentions have been a "little" different than my parenting practices.

Kelso- back home older drivers have to take a test every year or every couple years and growing up in a retirement community you have older drivers ALL OVER the place. but funny story when i was in school we had to do a community placement for home health care and one client we saw twice a week well one day she did her shower routine, and the other day we got to go grocery shopping okay thats fine EXCEPT she drove(she did fine and was very safe) i however in the backseat held on to the oh sh*t handle for dear life.
Leashes... mmmm we used the hand cuff ones for my brother when he learned to walk, it gave him the freedom to walk farther way from us in some situations (it wasnt used all the time) and doesnt look like you are walking your child but there is the cutest monkey one. meh i wont say i wont use one cuz well i just might one day.

I feel you ! But some drivers are more aware than others at that age
I call it laziness, and forgetfulness not age.

DH & I think they are funny, but if it works for you, then go for it. I would never use one though.
Side story- we saw a woman walking her dog in one of those dog strollers & her toddler was on the "leash"- We laughed about that for weeks!!
Mikaela is going to have a little brother!
Ah, my Nana is 81 & she drives, but she is a good driver & you would never think she is 81?
I don't think this a UO at all.

Boots aren't seasonless. They are to be worn when it is cold... That's it!

Come on! You know this outfit is a MUST in any summer wardrobe.

This also extends to peep toe boots.
I agree with this 100000%
