Re: Fiancé dislikes the idea of charting...

  • @MeatandBandP I also had the Nexcare originally.  I even found the beeping on that thermometer to be obnoxious - it not only beeps at the end when your temperature is done, but it beeps for every single degree your temperature rises.  And the volume on that thing is crazy loud.  I switched because it was annoying to ME and my H.  I switched to a Mabis and my H is not at all bothered by the much quieter beeping at the end.

Saying someone shouldn't be a parent because of an obnoxious thermometer (of which you have choices about and can easily switch) is ridiculous.

I have the nexcare thermometer so I'm glad that PPs are agreeing that it's obnoxiously loud.

Also, I never said in my OP that he is bitching about the thermometer. I thought that maybe he doesn't want me temping.

  • The thermometer is kind of loud. My husband doesn't care but I do find it annoying I won't give it up though because the fact that it saves my last temp for me is reason enough to deal with the beeps. I can take my temp and document it later as opposed to immediately after which I think would be even more disturbing. Plus, given the fact that I'm blind as bat especially when I first wake up it makes it all the more convenient. It also allows me the ability to fall back asleep because it's saved my temp for me.

That's worse to me. How does you temping affect him? I can understand not wanting to be woken up earlier than necessary, but I don't understand opposition to education.

Yikes, I never saw the typos in that sentence. I meant to say that I only thought that was the reason he didn't want me temping. Like I said before, he thinks that it's a waste of time because I'm "going to get pregnant in the first month".

(Also if you don't know my story, it's that we are going to start TTC next cycle or the one after that).

  • H can STFU about the beeping. I deal with his snoring every night.

This is actually a very good point!

  • Personally, If my husband was against temping i would stop.
    1. He's my head I need to submit to him like the Bible instructs us to.
    2.  He might just be uncomfortable with it for a bit and will soon allow you to do it again.
    3. This is a partnership compromise!
    4. Don't follow these women and ruin your marriage!

Wait...is this real? Or are you joking about how ridiculous it is that he would have an opinion on her temping?

  • @UdderlyFab - I, myself, am a Christian. I think your husband has grossly misunderstood what "head of the house" and "submission" actually mean. It does not mean he has to control you and trample you. Please explain how your temping is affecting him? ETA: How are these women ruining her marriage? For the record, she isn't even married yet. She's living with her FI.
    d. Two words are constantly confused in reference to woman's duties, "subjection" and "obedience.” But these words do not in the original Greek cover the same scope of meaning, although sometimes subjection may go all the lengths of blind obedience. The verb "to be in subjection" is from hupo, meaning "next after" or "under, " and tasso, "I arrange," and means "to arrange after" or to "arrange under, "--as soldiers are arranged, file after file, or under a captain. The noun "subjection" is not found (in Classical Greek) outside the N. T. and we are left to infer that it was coined to describe a relation peculiar to believers. Had the word merely meant "obedience," such an invention would have been needless. The verb itself is comparatively rare outside the Bible. The A.V. often translates it as "obey" and "submit," but the R.V.carefully translates these words as "subjection" and "be in subjection" wherever they occur, distinguishing them in sense from "obedience.” See the difference between the A.V. and R.V.at 1 Corinthians 14:34; Titus 2:5, etc.
How are these women ruining her marriage? For the record, she isn't even married yet. She's living with her FI.
Well shit, you just blew it for the OP.  Now @UdderlyFab isn't even going to pray for her since she'll probably just go straight to hell anyway for living in sin.
@littledogWhoever has that gif of a little girl doing what looks like a BJ simulation in their siggy—ugh its not funny and it seriously disturbs me when you post. Change it.
  • According to UdderlyFab's intro, she and her "husband" are only "married in their hearts", so she wouldn't look down on people "living in sin."  Just women who have the audacity to work out disagreements rather than mindlessly do whatever their husbands say.

    Stuck in the box:
She doesn't need his permission. No one is telling her to ruin her marriage. And stop using scriptures out of context.

@welchesgrapejuice you need JESUS. condoning this behaviour.

This.  I'm not sure what any of this stuff you are spewing has to do with a woman charting to learn about her own body.

Could I then be the husband in my heart, and my husband be the wife in his heart, and then I could tell him what to do? If so, he is slacking on getting me wine and giving me foot massages. I should let him know what a failure of a spouse he is being.
