We're doing our nursery in Nursery Rhymes. We started off with a light blue room but painted it a darker blue with a yellow stripe and small light blue stripes outlining the yellow. Our furniture is all white and I purchased several paintings of nursery rhymes like the humpty dumpty one below that we're going to hang in white frames thru ought the yellow stripe
My daughter's nursery was done with a nursery rhyme theme. I had bedding and curtains made out of fabric called Over the Moon. You can still get that fabric online, if you're interested.
I have one more thing to add to the walls.... have a collage frame that has a couple ultrasound pics, will have a maternity pic, and then two of us with the baby after he is born. So glad we didn't wait to do this until later. I would have been super cranky.
I still need to get a dresser/changing table combo, waiting for Disney Princesses Wall Borders and I need to hang shelves and other things on the walls, but here's some pics of so far
You all impress the heck out of me! I' ordered a closet organizer, does that count?
Absolutely. That makes the light switch cover plate that I installed seem more legit too.
I was so proud of myself for ordering it too! I felt like I finally accomplished something! I think a light switch is totally legit. Particularly since you even installed it!
So many cute ideas! I haven't done much on the room yet but I did do these 2 furniture makeovers...I'm going with gray walls (like a few of you!) to tone down the bright coral colors... Only downfall to coral is it's much harder to find sheets/linens everything is pink! I'm proud of my thriftiness too... Dresser I bought from a neighbor for 40$ and glider I got off craigslist, cushion from Walmart was under 100$ for paint supplies and everything!
We are doing bright colors. I don't like pastels much and the rest of our house is neutral so I'm using this as an excuse to breakout some color! We have a pretty small space to work and are moving not to long after baby so we opted for a rug to add more flare instead of painting. We are going to make a canvas sign with Baby's name to hang over the crib. This is just a snapshot of the crib area.
Have to share this cool light we got for the room! It has a remote, changes colors, has a sleep timer where it slowly dims before turning off. I just think it's so cute!
We are still debating on paint colors. But I did paint chests/night stands this weekend! These were in my nursery as a baby, but they were originally shiny gold metal. Love this chest idea as mentioned above.
My husband told me I was buying too much. I got a crib up and we just got a dresser to repaint. My daughters have to share a tiny room. Trying to figure out where to put everything
My DH thinks we only need a crib and that's pretty much it. Even though we have very little space, my thinking is that if we have a nice place to put everything away, the baby stuff would take up a lot less space. Plus I've made room in my body for this little one for 9 months, the least he can do is make a little room in the apartment!
I finally finished converting the "storage room" to the empty shell of what will be the baby's room last night. We know the color theme (lavender with bright green and tan accents), and picked up a used dresser last weekend. Have picked out curtains, crib, changing table, ordered custom changing table cover, and picked out crib sheet. Our first big purchase for the baby was done this week, travel system. We will probably do the crib next month after the walls are painted. Will have a phoenix decal on the wall, maybe tree as well, still working out that detail. We aren't planning on a chair in there yet, but we haven't decided for sure. We do have all the leftover baby stuff from #1 in there now, swing, bouncer, bounce seat, but it's pretty empty. Oh, and we still have to move the bookshelf out. Long process!! I've been working most on the registry, which is basically a running list of everything we will need to buy, maybe some people will do us some favors along the way
Ok..so technically I'm AW'ing the twins' nursery (and the pics are about a year old, the room is more 'toddler-fied" now), but we will more than likely be moving the girls into the bigger guest bedroom once baby #3 is about 4 months (baby will sleep in our room until then). So this room will end up being baby's room. The plan is to leave the gray walls and use the aqua dresser, so I've ordered this quilt from Etsy and we'll be accenting in purple/magenta/orchid hues this round, instead of red/pink. I love the girls' nursery colors and I'm excited for this new color combo!
We haven't even decided which room will be her nursery, the one next to us that ds used (which is still painted blue) or the bigger room down the hallway that will eventually be her 'big girl' room! I will be ordering rib bedding from etsy this week, and her crib just came in, so I have bits and pieces!
We built the furniture this weekend!! Yay.. Now I can let the decorating begin.
@Ashris13-- Love your choices!! Question for you since you have the exact furniture we do --- with the crib being a true white .: which hemnes dresser did you go with --- the white(which is more off white than white) or did you get the white stain(where the wood is slightly visible through the white stain)? I'm so torn and considered doing something different all together since they didn't have a true solid white dresser to be a complete match for the crib. Thanks!!
Well here is our updated nursery. Did it all today paint and decorating still have to hang pictures. Sorry AW ing it up. Not public on Facebook or any other social network than here.

@mrsg1019 we got the white satin. The wood is not very noticeable unless you are right up on it. I think it matches perfectly too. It is a very big dresser! Lol and it took DH and I about 2.5 hours to put it together. But I think it is completely worth it. I am so I love with how the furniture turned out. You must have great taste in furniture since we picked out the same pieces from different stores! . I love all the furniture so much and by the end of it we got the carpet replaced, the crib, dresser, and chair and have only spent 950, our goal was to be under 1000.00 for the furniture.
@Ashris13 that's awesome -- you guys did so good on getting all that under budget! The white stain in ikea made the wood grain seem so noticeable but hubby insisted that was cuz of their lights and it would be different when it was in the room. I'm so glad you posted the pix cuz I LOVE the dresser & it's size but that wood grain had me doubting it!
@mrsg1019 after you mentioned it I went in there to looks again and it really is hard to see at home. I agree with your DH. You will love it. And you really can't beat the price. Good luck!
@Ashris13 --- awesome! We went to pick it up the other day but it was out of stock and seeing it in person made me start doubting our choice. The price is great, especially considering it's not MDF/particle board. can't wait to get it and see it in the room soon!
What the eff, you guys have actual nurseries done! They all look so cute!
We now have an almost empty room (crib, swing, and bassinet all bunched up in the middle of it) with primer spots all over the walls that I get to paint next weekend. I do have the rest of his furniture ordered and a shopping cart full of stuff to be ordered on Target's website though.
I'm like, "it's cool, I still have 4 months, no rush"...
I've been nesting! We just have a one bedroom so the real challenge is decluttering, organizing and making everything fit. We've cleared out two book cases, some closet and dresser space. I also have a big pile of things to donate. The rest of my storage space looks like Tetris, but that is just going to have to work for now.
I did buy the crib and a dresser so those should be arriving in 1-2 weeks. It's all a work in progress. I'm very jealous of all you ladies with a room you can make a nursery in!
So excited! My husband and his buddy just completed demolition on the nursery! So now we have a room bare to the studs. If all goes according to plan, I'll be able to paint in three weeks and then we can get the carpet laid.
Ok I'm getting started. The crib is a great storage bin as well!!! I buy and throw it in there for now. Oh the art of looking at sideways pictures! We are really cramped for space. I've been stressed out trying to figure out space saving ideas. Pinterest really hasn't been a huge help and under the crib storage isn't happening since they make them lower now.

OMG YOUR CHILD HAS SO MANY CLOTHES ALREADY! jealous.
