What are you secretly hoping for?

I'd be lying if I didn't say, part of me hopes for a girl. But at the same time I do not want people to feel "sorry" for me if this one is a boy, because I will be just as happy with another son. People are already saying "let's hope for a girl this time". It really rubs me the wrong way. I will be shocked if this one is a girl. I really think we are having another boy. We are done after 3 no matter what though. I love my boys and I'm just happy to be having a third baby.

    This is me exactly!
  • @EurydiceNymph - So sorry you are having a rough day.  :(  I hope your u/s goes well!

In my sarcastic mind, I want a girl just because DH always says "I only make boys".  Dumbass.  In my PGAL brain, I just want to make it past 8 weeks and then I might allow myself to give it some actual thought.

Seriously though, at this point I would be thrilled with either! Just want a happy, healthy LO.

  • @SMac85 I had a friend who had two boys and when expecting her third, people kept saying the same thing and she would just answer with, I think a brood of boys would be fun!  I have to say-three boys is probably more fun than three girls (I am one of three girls)

I have no preference either way.  My side of the family is all girls so a boy would be nice but I'd love for two girls because I love having two sisters.  Like others, just want a healthy baby!

  • I will be thrilled to meet whoever is growing in there. That said, I would kind of really love a little boy. But when I refer to my baby in my head, I find myself calling it "she" and "her". So who knows! I'm just excited to meet him/her when they get here!
  • I just want to take home a baby in March. However, I think our next take-home baby will be a boy, and after having two girls the thought of a boy is exciting just because it's something different. With the both my girls I was hoping they'd be girls, but this time I really don't care either way.

We of course will be happy either way, but we are hoping for a boy. I think it's going to be a girl because my husband runs hot. lol.
  • A baby. Hoping for a baby.

Anyhow, we really wanted a girl last time around because then we'd never have to worry about whether or not we'd ever have a baby girl and we really wanted to raise a girl...so, it was nice that it worked out that E is a girl.

Now we really don't care, at all, one way or the other. I have zero preference. It would be nice to have a son and experience raising a boy, but a sister for E would be awesome too.

So, a living, healthy baby would be nice.
  • I always thought I would only want boys, but its really weird how as soon as I saw the BFP I now have no preference!! Just want a healthy happy baby.
  • DH wants at least one girl, so he's hoping to get this one "locked down" as a girl, and then we don't have to worry either way after that. So I'm pulling for a girl for him, but I think a little boy would be really sweet.

  • I don't care with my first. I feel it's going to be a boy based in conception date but if it is I don't want another boy next time :p
  • We have already AGREED on a girls name, so FX! :) But of course I would love a little prince! Healthy is my #1 choice :)
  • Hubby and I both want a girl, but I would be happy with either. Just healthy. I will say if by the second try we do not get a girl I told him I will try up to 4 times to try to the girl. hahah

  • It's my first, so I'm just thrilled to be pregnant! DH wants a son so badly! I know he will love our child no matter what though. He wants to pass his name on, so I think I'm leaning slightly more toward boy for my DH.

  • I want a baby, a healthy full-term baby. H is leaning towards wanting a girl. I keep having dreams that I have a son. My family pops out sons for first children. It's just the way history has played itself out. I'd love to have a daughter just to prove to them that this isn't an accurate way to predict the sex of a baby.
Beaujolais11, I know what you mean! DH's sister has 3 girls, and it seems everyone's first in his family for the past several years has been a girl. Right off the bat some of their family would say, "oh, you're probably going to have all girls, too." Except, his grandmother kept insisting DD was a boy, cause she has 5 boys and they are better than girls apparently (major eye roll.), and I would get so annoyed cause from the beginning I just KNEW she was a girl. When we finally had our anatomy scan and I could tell her for sure that I was right and she was wrong, I delighted in that maybe a little too much lol. But now cause we had one girl, some of his family insists we have the "all girl curse", too. Ugh, I get so annoyed with them.

I am leaning towards boy this time, and that would be nice,  but I would be just as happy with another girl, I think. And DH is mostly hoping for a boy this time, too. Not to mention it would be nice again to shove his family's ridiculous logic in their faces.

  • I don't care either way.  The only reasons I may wish for a boy a little more would be so I have a better chance of getting my dh to agree to 3 kids,  and having another boy would piss my SIL off.  For some reason, she has it in her head that we need to have a girl.  I just want a healthy baby.

  • I think we all want a healthy, happy baby.  My husband and I are kinda hoping for a boy.  We already have a little girl, and she is SUCH a handful.  My husband says that he doesn't think he can handle another one like her haha.

  • I kind of figure it's a boy because DH's family is boy heavy, and in terms of sibling dynamics I think it might be easier for DD to have another little brother than for DS to be sandwiched between girls. But I'm cool either way.

  • @estamos_tomamos and @ToasterCat - I've never done it, but I think some ladies on my last BMB tried for a specific gender.  I think it's called the Shettles Method?  Here's a wikipedia link if anyone cares: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shettles_method

  • Sorry if this was already mentioned, but everyone needs to watch the YouTube video "Pregnant Women are Smug".  Every time this question gets asked I want to quote that song but since it's really crude I don't want to insult anyone.

Ideally, I'd love a boy.  My "dream family" is 4 boys and then a girl.  Because no one messes with a girl who has four older brothers.  Although I'd love a girl, too, because the name we have picked out is really meaningful and the timing for it would be good.  My only concern with a girl is that I am not a girly girl and I worry about being a good mom to a teenaged girl.  But then I always think that I might get lucky and get a Tom Boy and all of this worrying will be for nothing.  Or DH can teach her how to put on make-up.  I'm sure he can YouTube it...

  • DH & I made an "agreement" that we'd try to have a boy & girl in our family. Baby #1 is my sweet sweet boy. Now we're onto Baby #2 and if it's a girl we're most likely done conceiving however if it's a boy, due to our agreement we'd try 1 last time for a girl. If we have three boys well then I'm one happy mama, no more being pregnant and we'd adopt our precious daughter.

  • This will be our first so honestly I don't care if it's a boy or a girl.  I just want a healthy happy baby!
  • A girl so I could get out all the clothes I was so sad to put away for DD! But it would be so great to have one of each and I know DH would love a little guy so he isn't outnumbered ;)

  • I'd love one of each. But if I have one I want a boy because my DH to be has 4 girls! He really wants a boy but will be just as happy with another girl.
  • While I am totally excited for either, I secretly want a girl. Frilly dresses, headbands, and pink!
  • Although he says that he would be excited for either, I think my DH really wants a girl. It's our first baby so we're just excited in general.
