What are you drinking (aside from water)?

I can't drink plain water - my gag reflex will NOT allow it. At all. Ever.

I obviously know the importance of staying hydrated, but I'm struggling.

So, what are you drinking aside from water?

                 7/18 - Baby A 165, Baby B 171 - both measuring right on track & moving all around!

  • Funny thing is I can eat or drink anything else - aside from plain water. My throat just closes off! It's irritating.

  • Try flavored seltzer. I love water so that's pretty much all I drink but when I'm missing my adult beverages or need to mix it up I do flavored seltzer. Throw a lime slice in there if you really want to get nuts! This will keep you hydrated without all the sugar/empty calories from juices, sodas...etc.

  • Lemonade, watered down apple juice (also helps the constipation), ginger ale, sprite, root beer (a and w).

    I'm loving the coconut and apricot la croix flavored (not sweetened) sparkling waters.  Hoping they don't eventually turn into gag causers - so many of my safe foods have!  I'm usually a water chugger and I'm struggling too.

  • Seltzer with lemon or lime or a splash of cranberry juice.  Also been drinking ICE which is a flavored sparkling water that is really good.  I buy it by the case at Costco (they also have a Costco brand knockoff that is almost as good, so I switched to that).

  • I drink gatorade, powerade, lemonade, no sugar added grape juice, sugar free Fuze juice, and Sprite. I can drink plain water when I'm not nauseated, which is almost never now. If all I have to drink is plain water, I add a packet of crystal light to it, and I can drink as much as I want.

  • Be careful of powdered mixes with artificial sweeteners!  Those are a no-no.

    I've been drinking lemonade and watered down cran-grape juice when I get tired of water. On the days when I throw up and lose my appetite, I drink Gatorade to make sure I'm getting back some electrolytes. I can't do anything carbonated, it gives me AWFUL gas pressure after one or two sips.  I also drink those chocolate protein drinks (store brand of Ensure or Boost) when I need a boost.  It is so hard to drink enough water when I feel queasy, and if my stomach gets too empty then the cold water will make me throw up. COME ON 2nd TRI!!!!

  • I love simply lemonade, Gatorade G2 grape, water with lemon, Sierra mist, basically anything a little sour. It sits well with my stomach. Good luck
  • Flavored sparkling waters, orange juice, ginger ale. I'll have a GuS once in a while, too. Carbonated drinks seem to calm my nausea; I then try to have more water while I'm feeling okay.

  • I like strawberry kiwi propel, arnold palmer made with crystal light decaffinated tea, IBC root beer.
  • Other plan water...Crystal light in my water when I just need a little flavor, apple juice and ginger ale

  • Natural water makes me throw up......Perrier has been super helpful (carbonated water) and the half tea/half lemonade from Arnold Palmer - YYUUUUMMYY!!!!

  • zevia ginger rootbeer mmmmm! water additives like mio sport and crystal light drops, true lemon packets in ice water, ocean spray diet cran-pomegranate.  I have a hard time with sugar its been making me feel sick so alot of juices and pop are out for me.

  • ginger ale. df makes me good noncaffinated green tea with a bunch of honey. sip it warm and it helps me feel better
  • Hot black coffee in the morning, and good ole tap-juice for the rest of the day.  Thank goodness water goes down easy.  It's been cooking hot here!  :)

  • Omg I'm in the same boat! One of the things that MAKES me nauseous is water! I know it's weird but I've never been a water fan haha it does not taste good! I'm nervous becauae i know I'm not drinking enough water, I'll try to flavor the water with those squeeze bottle things. :-/ it's so hard!
  • Coconut water is really delicious!
  • Kombucha, I like any flavor with ginger.  
  • @Amaryllismagic   -  thanks for the heads up about the artificial sweeteners in my crystal light mix.  I feel like such a moron for not knowing this.  There are so many rules to keep track of as a FTM!  I've read What to Expect cover to cover a few times and I'm still learning new stuff every day.  Anyway I guess I'll have to find some new beverages for the rotation too. 
  • I'm not typically a fan but I try to drink as much as I can. I like ice water.

    12/09/10 BFP -- 7/05/11 DS born at 33w5d. Came home after 23d in NICU at 37w0d

    June 2012 - TTC #2! -- 10/05/12 BFP --  5/23/13 DS2 born at 37w1d! Yay full term!

    Surprise BFP 6/25/14 LO#3 due Feb2015!

  • In the morning hot ginger and lemon tea (decaf) and the rest of the day water and chocolate almond milk
  • I mostly drink sparkling mineral water with slices of lemon in it. Avoiding anything with sugar, artificial sweeteners or too much caffein in it (I really think those are bad for baby to be honest). Apart from water I drink peppermint tea, roobios tea, homemade well-dialuted cordial and ice cold pasteurised milk. Admittedly a bit dull but a small price to pay.
  • Our doctor okayed crystal light and sprite zero. As long as it's ice cold I can drink it.

  • Juice, water and coconut water. The coconut water has been a blessing, it's a stool softener and has been helping me go more regular. I get the zico chocolate flavor so i can get my sweet fix at the same time.
