This thread is just so sweet! It makes me realize that I should cherish these last few days I have left being pregnant...but here's my favorite pregnancy moment so far:
I absolutely loved telling my DH we were expecting. We had tried the month before and the test was negative. I made sure to take a picture of it to save for when we actually were pregnant. The day I found out, I sent him the negative test and told him we'd try again next month. When he came home from work, our little fur baby was wearing a shirt that said "big sister Chloe" and he almost died...it was such a priceless moment!
I also loved the first time we saw her on the ultrasound. My husband was in tears seeing his baby on the screen. It made it clear that he was so in love and he was going to be a great father.
I have another. DH and his ex-wife tried for three years before they conceived my step-son. We were expecting it to take a while, so we started trying on our wedding night (10/12/13). I found out at my 8 am physical for insurance on 10/28/13 that we were expecting! I had to wait the entire day until I got home from work to tell him. We didn't even get a positive on a home pregnancy test until a week later. My due date is exactly 9 months from our wedding day.
I will say this has been a hard 9 months on me...bed rest and a lot of complications...it's nice to reflect on the good things!
I feel blessed that IVF #1 worked for us. I was a disaster emotionally while trying, going through surgeries, and seeing countless friends have another child.
Even though the complications and bed rest were stressful I felt lucky to have so many chances to see baby k ( still team green!) on ultrasounds.
My mom hosted the most Martha Stuart shower and the weather was so beautiful on the water that day. We received so many cool homemade gifts...which can sometimes be scary!
Mine are the moments with my son (Although DH is really excited for his baby girl too). I never imagined how cool it would be to go through pregnancy from a kid's persepctive.
He always talks about his baby sister - tells EVERY ONE about her. He is so great with other babies and tells them he's going to teach his sister everything (like about rescue bots and monster trucks and her abc's and how to talk).
The questions he asks are priceless and even though he's still small, he figures things out about this whole process so quickly (about my hospital stay, and how the baby comes out, etc.). I know we are in for some jealousy and a few rough times, but seeing how he's grown over the last 6 months since we told him has been really special
1. My daughter was so excited for a new baby. The night I went into labor she was jumping up and down as we left for the hospital. She tried to stay up but finally passed out around midnight. I'm glad she slept because the baby didn't come for almost 12 more hours. She is still excited and is a great helper. 2. Hearing them say "it's a boy"! 3. Watching DH almost pass out with they asked if he wanted to cut the cord. He did not cut the cord lol. 4. Telling my mom we named him Flynn in honor of her middle name and watching her reaction.
This is the last picture I have of being pregnant and my last pregnancy. Like others have said, it is bittersweet. I will miss this chapter but I'm ready to see what the future holds for my three little munchkins.
I felt it would be a girl - my OH thought I was nuts but then at the U/S when the doc told him, the look on his face. He wanted a little girl so much - she's going to have him wrapped around her finger!
The first time OH felt a kick, he wasn't there while I was pregnant with the firstborn so it was a whole new thing for him.
Telling the OH's parents that baby's middle name would be FiL's mother's name. The due date was a few days before what would have been her birthday if she were still with us. FiL's a quiet guy normally but he welled up at that.
Definitely finding out we were having another boy. I was so sure it was a girl! We brought ds with us and although he had no idea what was going on, I'm glad it was the 3 of us (and the OB and his intern).
The other favorite moment was getting a 3d ultrasound and seeing his adorable face. The look in dh's face was the best!
And when we told everybody we were expecting number 2!
1. Telling DH about the BFP. I think I'll always have the look of surprise and joy etched into my brain forever. Makes me want to cry now just thinking about it! (I kept the pregnancy test and it's in a little baby keepsake box. Is that weird? It sounds kinda weird, but it's important!)
2. Telling our families. His parents live pretty far away, but they came to visit in early December. I was so happy we were able to break the news to them together. It was amazing.
3. When DH and I decided on the name. I like that he has a name, though it's weird that we don't really use the name yet. We're keeping it a secret until he's here, so we haven't used it much even at home so we don't slip around family or friends. But the whole name decision was pretty special.
Mine are: definitely getting that BFP, having professional maternity pics done (this is my last and I hadn't done them with any of my others), and lastly finding out we are having a boy! The look on DH and DS1's faces were the best!!
