@ChristineBaker23 thank you! I've just been sucking it out but the a tip thing is a great idea. It's just his right nostril and he doesn't really seem to have any other cold symptoms
Is it weird that I am actually kind of looking forward to chatting with you ladies during the MOTN feedings (and watching Friday Night Lights)? LO is a week old but we are just establishing a BFing routine (long story I'll post on the BF thread) so I am finally in a position to chat!
Tonight will be my last night having DH get up with me for all the MOTN feedings, he goes back to work Monday. I am freaking out! He helps so much and I don't know if I can do it without him. He is still going to get up after the feeding to diaper and reswaddle but it was super nice having his support through the feedings.
We've had a long hard day and I have a feeling it will go into the night. LO has been eating just about every 2 hours. The last week she has stretched it to every 4. But today is a totally different ball game. She has been eating, napping or fussing ALL day. She has been burping a lot so I think maybe she just has a tummy ache or a bad case of gas. But all day? I'm exhausted, Hubs is wearing down and she is only content for an hour at a time before she wakes up screaming. Hopefully a bath will help. (Sighs)
H agreed to stay up until D wakes up for his first feeding (which should be any minute now) so I pumped a bottle and am laying in bed... And can't sleep! So unfair.
We are going through a growth spurt. Eating, sleeping and repeat all day is what we've been doing. I have a feeling it will be a long night too, but at least I have you ladies and Gossip Girl!

I just finished all of the seasons of gossip girl before LO was born

Me too! Loved it!
LO finally feels better now that her reflux is controlled so she has been eating ALL day!
W has been sleeping all day so I'm anticipating her eating all night. I've had an emotionally rough day and my mom just called telling me a cat I had growing up was attacked and needs to be put down
LO has been sleeping since about 10:30, great! Except I'm not sleeping because he is making noises in his sleep. I've never heard him do this before... So I keep waiting for him to wake up screaming and he isn't. This is just as exhausting as if he were actually awake.
Aamie won't sleep unless she is on her tummy or side. So I give up on trying to put her down on her back. Also half the time she rolls on to her side or tummy anyway. I hope that doesn't make me a bad mom.
@kcort13 - I wish DH were home to help me (he works nights and tonight was his first night back... I bet that has something to do with my anxiousness too!).
I wonder if he always makes these noises or if I'm usually too tired to notice, lol. They sound like gurgling though and they are bugging me out. It's killing me not to wake him up and check!
I can never get a good burp out of him, and it drives me crazy. I sit him up completely vertical, either in my lap or on my chest, and pat his back up to 20 minutes. Nothing. Then as soon as I lay him down(on incline), he sounds like he's drowning in spit up. So now I'm up again burping him, trying to get something out. So frustrating!
Have you tried laying him down across your lap belly down? Parker is difficult to burp and that works sometimes.
Motn and I'm freaking myself out wondering if Parker is deaf. He's always slept through loud noises and doesn't startle, but now I'm noticing he doesn't appear to respond to noises at all. I was feeding him last night watching out the window as dh shot off fireworks. One of them was a screamer and hurt my ears, no reaction from Parker. I'm up with him right now and tried clapping near his head. He didn't react at all. I'm going to call the pediatrician ASAP. Hopefully he's just a very chill baby.

Fx he is just chill! Fwiw J doesn't really react to many noises either. Did you get the hearing newborn test in the hospital?

I'm pretty sure they did the test, but going to double check.
Am I overreacting? DF is going out with friends to go shooting for a friends birthday tomorrow and it's an all day thing (leaving at 7 am and home after 4). He works 12 hour days 5 days a week and I'm home with baby. I love staying home but I also really love when he is home to help. I'm just irritated that he is leaving for the whole day to have fun solo and I'm home with our month old. I'm bf'ing so it's not like I can take off for a day. Grr.
@elsa1688 I wouldn't say it was an over reaction, but how would you feel if you weren't the sole provider of food. If you wouldn't get upset about it if you knew it was your your turn to take a day next weekend, try not to know. It gets really easy (for me anyway) to fall into a pattern of resenting dh because he has freedoms you don't, and that's really tough on a relationship. Try to schedule time when you feed your lo full and then immediately leave the house for an hour of alone time. Go meet a friend for a quick bite, get a manicure, or run to the mall. Something for yourself. Even if lo wakes up screaming before you get back, if baby has been fed full, dh should be able to keep him calm enough until you get back. Feel better!
@elsa1688 I feel the exact same way. I'm frustrated that DH gets to go out and do things, but it's 90x harder for me to do anything. I'm annoyed about him working an extra shift so I can completely understand you be irritated about him going out with friends. @lilygrace48 has great advice that I'm going to try to remember.

Our fire alarm went off when I was cooking (the broiler and I fight a lot) and our fire alarm doesn't just go off in the room where the smoke is it goes off in every room so I ran I to Murphy's room and he was sound asleep! I thought the same thing about our little buddy but we have come to the conclusion that he is just a chill baby
@elsa1688 DH went to a bachelor party last weekend and was gone for 25 hours. I was pissed and still don't think he should have gone, but I felt better after giving him the baby when he got back and getting a solid stretch of peaceful sleep. I agree that you should take some time for yourself. Leave a feeding if you're pumping.
Mommy fail when LO was mad during diaper change and I wasn't going fast enough so he peed. He calmed down then I took too long still (Applyinj yeast cream to yeast rash...) so then he got worked up and peed again all over my sheets and in his face. I'm so tired..
I resent DH sometimes too. He gets a break and gels downstairs to watch tv while I feed. He gets to eat a full meal by himself first time around. Tomorrow I am going to movie, the fault in our starts, with a friend. He can feed LO from our freezer stash since I have a ton if he needs to... I've been too reluctant to but us mamas need free time to. It makes us better wives and definitely better mamas when we have a clear, fresh mind.
@skamber I was just about to write the same thing! I was nervous about how our night was going to go since LO slept practically all day since we were traveling... We decides to start a bedtime routine like so many people talked about on the sleep thread... Bath time, lotion time, swaddle time, book time, feeding time, snuggle time, bed time... LO just had 5 hours of completely blissful sleep! And so did mama! I was reluctant to put baths as a bedtime routine because it can take a while and I can really make a mess, but she just sat there looking so relaxed and I fully believe it helped! Love June 14!
We had 4 hours of sleep and now LO is wide awake after his feeding which is rare for him. We put him in his swing and he cried, checked his diaper, massive poop. We swaddled and rocked, put him in the swing, he cried, we checked his diaper, he peed. Trying to put him down again, please sleep baby!!
LO slept for 6 hours but then couldn't latch on my rock of a boob. I felt like we were in panic mode trying to calm her and getting me enough time to pump long enough to soften my boob. I'm thankful for the sleep, but the melt
Oh thank goodness. Liv slept 6 and a half hours on my chest last night. This has never happened before. Her diaper wasn't even dirty and she didn't cry to eat in the AM, she was just stirring. We had a bad latch but she ate and then I brought her out into the living room and she stirred awake for a while then fell asleep in the mamaroo while I pumped both sides (mostly to relieve my leaky hard left boob.)
I was so freaked out that she slept so long until seeing your post. Kinda freaking that she is already back to sleep now though.
You ladies on this board give solid advice. I did a lot of the things from the thread about putting baby to sleep (spacing on the name of that thread) and they worked. I had 6 hours of sleep and now it's 5 am, and I feel well rested. When does that ever happen? I'll definitely have a nap later, but this is the most successful night we've had in almost 3 weeks
Jealous! LO hates the bath with a passion. We've tried all sorts of things to make it better. Might need to try the other things and see if that helps.
Sometimes this helps get them nice and tired. I would still try before bed.
LO just slept for 4.5 hours! Our longest stretch. I actually did the awful thing and woke him up because I was so drippy. Unfortunately I have no idea what we did to get this long period of sleep but I hope it can continue!
Re: MOTN check in 7/4

@lest12 DD1 was a noisy newborn sleeper! It would keep me up, too.
Married DH 7/30/11
CSC arrived 5/7/12
CHC arrived 6/2/14

Someone tell me it's all ok.
