Thanks for the new thread! Liv is eating/not really eating but most sleeping at my boob now. She fussed a ton before this and was spitting up a few times.
I think I suck at burping her. I'm going to bed after this. Hoping I get 2 hours of sleep before she wants to eat again.
We went to our close friends' house for dinner. The girls proceeded to melt down; I had to eat holding both in my Moby. After dinner K entertained us with an epic display of colickey screaming. We just settled everyone down at home, and I'm feeling a little shell shocked. DH leaves for a week-long trip Sunday night and I'm terrified to deal with this on my own.
It's only 10:40 here, so not really MOTN. But Vivi and I are hanging out on the couch, catching up on old episodes of the Bachelorette. She's starting to doze after a good awake chunk, so I'm hoping for an earlier bedtime than last night's 1:30.
I figured last nights five hour stretch was too good to be true. LO has been up ever hour and a half/two hours fussing and crying, and it sounds like he's stuffy. Anything to do for a stuffy newborn?
LO slept in the mamaroo from 11-1:15 tonight and thankfully DH stayed in the living room with her during that time so I could sleep. I'm hoping after she finishes nursing we'll get a 3-4 hour stretch (we got 5 hours in a stretch last night) but not counting on it... we still haven't nailed down a place she'll sleep consistently other than the swing or in our bed and we are trying out the PnP tonight. Wish us luck.
@babygabe614 H loves his mammaroo and takes his naps on there. One night I was so frustrated I out him in there and slept on the couch. I think we have the same pnp and that's where he sleeps now and he really likes, especially not swaddled. Good luck! I know it's tough
L had two great sleeping nights in a row... however, he just woke up after 45 minutes to eat again. I'm going to prepare myself for a long night.
Famous last words.
The last few nights I've noticed this really 'cute' act he pulls... where he doesn't hear the baby crying until I'm already up and changing his diaper. Then, he asks if I need help knowing that I'm already up and taking care of it.
He just pulled it again so I called him out on it. Yay for 2am fights!

@jaybee11 Can anyone come help while he's gone? A week alone would really suck!
What temp do you keep your lO's sleep area at? We keep our house around 75 but tonight traveling he seems to be sleeping much more soundly and I bet it is warmer than that. Did your doc give you a recommendation?
I believe cooler is recommended to help prevent SIDS. I think it's 65-70?
Charlie fought sleep like nothing I have ever seen tonight. He was awake for about an hour, slept maybe 20 minutes, and then was up for three hours, eating constantly and crying if he wasn't actively latched. Dh and I finally took him for a drove and he conked out, woke up the second fwe got home, nursed to sleep around 10 and slept until 3:45! I will that giant long sleep stretch, thank you. .
I can never get a good burp out of him, and it drives me crazy. I sit him up completely vertical, either in my lap or on my chest, and pat his back up to 20 minutes. Nothing. Then as soon as I lay him down(on incline), he sounds like he's drowning in spit up. So now I'm up again burping him, trying to get something out. So frustrating!
LO slept from 10-1 tonight. Last night, he slept from 10-2, 3-6, and 6:30-10. The longest stretches of sleep he's ever had! So excited! Hoping after this feeding might be a little longer.
Does anyone else's LO scream bloody murder during diaper changes?
Yes!! Almost every time. We thought it was because his penis was getting stuck to the diaper and was irritated after the circ but that has healed up so we have come to the conclusion that he hates having cold balls
Oh my god!!! Aamie slept too long lol never thought I would say that but my boobs hurt so bad when we woke up. I thought they might explode and I had to hand express a bunch before she could even latch. Then I had to hand express the other side before I started crying. Now she is wide awake but at least she and I got 4hrs of sleep vs. 2 like normal.

Unfortunately our family all lives pretty far away. I actually offered to fly my mom down to help but she's "too busy." Don't have time or energy to get into that one right now. My friend who I would ask for help is going to be out of town for the majority of the week...just bad timing all around. I know we'll get through it somehow, but it's going to be interesting.
The babies slept from 12 onwards for DH (it's 3:45 now) but they're starting to make rustling noises. I hope I can feed them then put them right back to bed, but after stretches of sleep like this they're usually frantic and crazily hungry soo I'm not counting on it.
I also skipped my MOTN pump session for extra sleep. Woke up leaking but it was worth it to sleep some solid hours.
@whoberry I kind of did this last night. LO always wakes up when I burp her, and when she finished nursing she burped on her own when I sat her up so I called it good and rubbed her back to get her sleepy again. That said, she almost never spits up (only has once and it was bc someone else was feeding her formula and gave it way too fast) so I don't worry too much about her doing it when I put her down.
I am so excited... LO just slept for four hours in the PnP and is still going! It's a shame I have to wake her to nurse before we go to the pediatrician this morning.
@mrsdbc happy birthday!

update: I was able to catch them before the craziness started so now they're fed and changed and just chilling. Woot!
@mrsdbc -- happy bday! Please get the donuts and Starbucks. Indulgence is a must!
My BFF leaves today and I want to cry! She's doing the MOTN feeding with the boys & I'm upstairs in bed pumping. She has been awesome - cooking/baking, watering the plants & has done two overnight feeds. All I can say is, "wahhhhhh" to her 9am departure.

Aspirator. Sometimes they are stuffy because milk came out their nose and they get milk boogers, Cora constantly has milk boogers. If it is truly sickness boogers you put contact solution on a q-tip and gently swizzle it around in their nose to help break up the gunk so you can aspiratorize it or wipe it away. (Contact solution is interchangeable with saline solution, I just already have contact solution so that's what I use! Pediatrician approved to do so)
Eta: Vicks vapor rub on the chest and bottoms of their feet helps too

Is it safe to use Vicks on an infant? I somehow remember not using that on DS til he was much older.

I am sooo sick of LO thinking she needs to eat every hour at night... I miss sleep

All these stretches have sent my boobs into shock! Ugh
