Totally stole this from the sep14 board, I tend to become a creepy lurker on HDBD @-)

Anyways, thought I would share because I think it's funny, cute, and a good read.
My name would of been "TRUK" if I was a boy (Truck, without the "c") my parents did the whole "mom names baby if it's a girl and daddy picks name if it's a boy" My dad had also mentioned if this LO is a boy I should consider the name "SEVEN" ........he's crazy!!! He's also a cute lovable old hippie, and I love him with all of my heart!!!!!

I was Megan before it was changed when I was adopted at 6 months old. My parents had my current name as well as Maureen and Natasha on their list. So glad I am not Maureen! :-P

With both me and my sister, we would have been an Eric, which was my brother's name. The funny part is, right before he was born, my dad changed his mind and wanted to go with Tyler. They disagreed on it until the day Eric was born. According to my mom, the nurse asked what they wanted to name the baby, and my exhausted and in pain mother (in pain because Eric's head was HUGE) yelled out "ERIC!". Because of my mom's condition, my dad couldn't say anything.

I don't know about me I think I've always been Angela. My dad picked both my name and my sister's name and there was no negotiating haha
But for my boyfriend... He was a girl until he was born and his name would have been Estella Laura. That name just makes my stomach churn and lucky for him he is now Arron

My parents liked Jacqueline for a while. My mom said she could never pick out a boys name, but I think they had Wesley picked out in case of a boy. She also said if she had known that she would have had 3 girls she would have named us Faith, Hope, and Charity.

Alexandra (Alex) from flashdance with my middle name to be Samantha before they realized my initials were then A.S.S.....so glad they changed it to a funky B-middle, cause now my initials are ABC!

my brother would have had it rough though. Mom wanted to name him Blade and Sterling, but dad said then his middle had to be "runner" with blade and "silver" with sterling lol

was going to be Ronald if I was a boy, fortunately they named me Nicole which isn't awful, I don't go by Nicki anymore, got out of that when I was about 10.

Kaitlyn or Kathleen but my dad said they were too new sounding, so I'm Katherine (Katie). If I were a boy I would be Joseph.

My dad wanted to name me Renee since it is my mom's middle name...she said absolutely not and then suddenly his number one pick for a girl's name became Gretchen. She caved on Renee pretty fast after that. I kind of miss the Mean Girl pun opportunities that could have come out of that, but I have to say I do like my name

My mom always had a name picked out for me (I'm the oldest), but I would have been either Seamus or Philip if I was a boy. But she got more interesting with her naming choices as my parents worked their way to five kids - the last was almost named Tanneth. She said the unique names were meant to shield us from our bland last name. Now my married name is not bland so no one can pronounce either of them

Not abnormal by any means, but I was going to be Melissa Anne. My dad and grandma convinced her to name me Brittany Faith, with I like much more so I'm glad they were able to convince her.

Haha! Good thing your Dad knew better than to argue with her at that point!

@DoctorWorm222 - Not kidding. I am still curious how my mom did not know the name of his previous finance, but I might just let that one be.

Me too! My dad wanted Caitlin but they knew they wanted to call me Kate with a K, so they settled on Katherine.

Can't have one of those new fangled fad names like Kaitlyn/Caitlin.

Haha, I know, right? One of the Irish classics. I think they were just nitpicking at that point. No one ever calls me Katherine anyway, except my mom when I'm in trouble.

My parents assumed that since my mom's pregnancy with me was completely opposite of the one with my sister, I was going to be a boy. So they only picked a boy name. Daniel.

I'm Danielle....my parents were going 2 name me Dana if I was a boy or a girl.
