My dad wanted to name me Heather after Heather Locklear...the Baywatch star. My mom wanted Danielle, and dad agreed only if she promised not to call me Dani. So I've been Dani to my mom for 24 years
@DoctorWorm222 I kid you not, my dad tried naming me Cinnamon Candy. My parents didn't talk girl names AT ALL because they were convinced (without any kind of medical verification) that I was going to be a boy. So after my mother was induced, they figured they should pick out a girl name!
Thankfully, my mother was not going to have a stripper name for any daughter. So instead they named me Kylee, after Kylie Minogue. They had no idea how to spell it, but I really like my a far more than Cinnamon Candy.
If I was a boy John the IV. I would have been Katherine but my Aunt also loved the name and if she was having a girl she was gonna use it. Her last (a boy) was born the day before I was and we were overseas and didn't get the news in time that he was a boy so my Mom didn't use it just in case. I love the name Katherine and it is on my list for a girl.
My parents always joke about how they almost named me Misty Morning. On the way to the hospital it was a misty outside. So glad they stuck with my name! If I had been a boy I would have been Grant.
If I'd been a boy, I'd have been named James, but my mom had her girl name picked out from childhood so there wasn't much of a question there. But with my sister, they agreed throughout the pregnancy to name her Emma, but after having had an epidural and given birth, my mom yelled at my dad when the nurse asked the baby's name, started crying, and said she wanted to name the baby Mary after her mom. The problem is that my mom is also named Mary after her mom...she was so mad afterwards that everyone gave in to her outburst, and still sometimes wishes she'd gotten to use Emma!

I'm not sure if there was an alternate boy name selected for me, but the other girl name they were considering was Sarah Jane. My name is a good bit less common that that, so I'm glad they picked what they did.
My Dad was all about biblical names if I had been a boy, like Elijah and Abraham. My mom wanted to name a girl Lydia or Daria, but when I was born, she decided I looked like her mom (who was NOT a morning person!) when she woke up, so I am named after her.

My dad had picked a name for a daughter when he was 12 so my mom got no say. If I had been a boy I would have been Niccolo (Nico) or Dominic (Dimes) after one of my grandfathers. My husband and I are considering Nico for our baby if it's a boy!
My parents were considering Rebecca Suzanne but my dad really wanted me named after his mom. My mom refused as her name was Melva but she did agree on us sharing a middle name, Louise. So they went with Suzanne Louise instead. Had I been a boy, my name would be Gregory Dale.
When my sister was born my parents named her Amy... My mum fell asleep and when she woke up my dad had changed her name on the birth certificate/records to Amber... My name was going to be Taylor, no matter what sex I was.
My mom insisted on naming me Flower. My dad was (obviously) having none of it. I personally love the name. So every video game character I create I name her Flower.
The other name options my parents considered were Stormy, Rain, or Britannia. Ended up with Brianna...followed by 4 middle names none of which are Stormy or Rain.
I was a suprise baby so my parents had two names picked out Either I was supposed to be a Noahor if I was a girl Anjanah Zoe. When I was born the doctors asked for my name and my mom blurted out "Zoe! It's just Zoe." When my dad walked back in he was suprised at the name change...
My parents considered Kirsty and Rachel before settling on Lauren. If I were a boy, I would have been Cole. DH would have been Jessica if he were a girl.
I almost got named Ruth, which I hate. No offense to any Ruth's out there.
On another note, my friend, who is from India, with a perfectly fine Indian name, Ravi, was renamed Hardick by his parents. Which is basically the words hard and dick smushed together, so let's just say he has gone by Ravi since he got older and understood his parents made a horrible choice lol
