~~~Monday B*tchfest~~~~
2
Re: ~~~Monday B*tchfest~~~~
  • My bitch fest goes out to my boss. I'm a nanny of a 4 year old girl who cries everywhere we go. School, swim lessons, ballet lessons, story time, play date... She has anxiety issues or something? If I go to the bathroom without telling her she will cry because "she can't find me". So anyway her mom signed her up for an outdoor summer camp this week and is making me attend camp WITH HER! I was the only "parent" there today!!! Thank God it's a short work week!
  • Loading the player...
  • I think this is better saved for Thursday or Friday....but the Supreme Court's ruling on the Hobby Lobby case royally pissed me off....I cried.
    • Here is Ginsburg's dissension:
    • "Would the exemption…extend to employers with religiously grounded objections to blood transfusions (Jehovah's Witnesses); antidepressants (Scientologists); medications derived from pigs, including anesthesia, intravenous fluids, and pills coated with gelatin (certain Muslims, Jews, and Hindus); and vaccinations[?]…Not much help there for the lower courts bound by today's decision."
    • "Approving some religious claims while deeming others unworthy of accommodation could be 'perceived as favoring one religion over another,' the very 'risk the [Constitution's] Establishment Clause was designed to preclude."
    • "The court, I fear, has ventured into a minefield."
    Ginsburg is totes my homegirl today...I feel like she was the only one who put some forethought into her decision. I feel like this particular ruling is a step back in women's rights...but like Ginsburg pointed out, it opens a whole different can of worms once other religious fanatics figure out that they can be exempt too....where are they going to draw the line??
  • I have two:
    Hand, foot, and mouth is running rampant around where I live and I feel like every toddler has had it. DS had it last July and I am pretty sure he will catch it again as a girl who had her son at mother's day out THIS MORNING just said he has blisters all over his legs, hands, and feet...but still sent him. I am not happy as I know being around it pregnant it not recommended. I feel like we need to stay in a bubble.
    I was awake the majority of the night debating if I should call L&D even though I had an appointment this morning. Thankfully, I slept a few hours and they spread back out-but I can't live like this for 12 more weeks with hours of contractions that are timeable. It is emotionally exhausting!
    Feeling SOOO unmotivated today. I know I need to clean and do laundry, but all I want to do is veg on the couch and let my feet recover. We just got back from Vegas and my feet are still killing me from the last few days. BTW, Vegas sucks when you're pregnant. DH did his best to make it a good time, and we did have fun, but when it's 100 degrees and all you want is a frozen daiquiri, and there's a million scammers trying to pimp the "deal" of the day, it can make a girl feel a bit stabby. I also got mistaken for a hooker...by one of DH's colleagues. He apologized when I saw him a few days later, but I had to ask him, and I quote, "The fuck kind of low-rent strange do you buy that I, at seven months pregnant, in a sundress and flip-flops that don't match, look like a fucking escort?" I don't even know what has to break in a person's brain that they can see a Lt Col, in uniform, on base, with a pregnant woman, and the first thought is, "Must be a hooker."
    Maybe not so much of a bitch, but it was really upsetting last week and I was offline the whole time so I couldn't vent about it. I can laugh about it now though, and thought it might give you ladies a giggle.
    Omg. It's not jealousy. It's not entitlement. It's not messed up priorities. I'm thrilled for them. Sheesh! We're all really close and grew up together. My circle is already small and their absences will be noticeable. That's it. What's wrong with wanting your family/friends around you? I tried to move the date up, but all my free dates clashed with one of their showers. And I definitely didn't wanna do that. It's repeat showers for them as well. But I guess that doesn't matter. It must just be bash on me day. This rant might be irrational to some ppl, but that wasn't the point. The point was to be able to bitch freely, which I did.
  • All I wanted to do today was lay my ass in the pool because it's so GD hot outside but DD woke up with a fever so we are stuck inside...boo!
    QFP. Also, you are free to bitch freely, as is anyone, you know what with it being a public message board and all. Even if repeat showers are the norm in your circle, your complaint is that your party (that you're throwing for yourself?) isn't going to have enough people at it. Your bitch is selfish and entitled, even if it doesn't sound that way to you.
    They'll have their babies by then and will be stuck home in their 6 week recoveries.
    Without getting into the whole baby shower/entitlement debate (because I don't care) the 6 week recovery does not confine anyone to their house. I don't really understand why they can't be there, honestly.
    I agree they probably don't HAVE to stay home, but very likely want to stay home?
  • I just don't understand all the baby shower threads and questions. What is there to have questions about? If someone offers you a shower, you say thank you. Then you show up to the shower, eat some snacks, let people touch your belly, open your gifts, say thank you & take your shit home (after offering to help clean up, even though you probably won't feel like it).A few days later, you write your thank you notes. That should be about the jist of it. Why is that confusing?
    I have a question...is the highlighted section mandatory?
    Please no, please no...
  • Poor poor fourth child second shower girl. You picked the date of your shower and your sisters are too busy having freakin babies to come? That's soooooooo rude. I can't believe those newborns could be so selfish as to not shower you in gifts and attention. What kind of crap is that?
    There's nothing wrong with wanting your family around you...but that's not the way you worded it. It sounded like you were saying that you wanted them to drop everything (baby included) to be at your shower. You're mom is right, you should be happy...and more understanding. I'm sure they wish they could be there for you, but honestly, their babies will take top priority and you will have to take a back seat. Tough noogies.
    I'm really tired of this stupid IRS scam call.  Has anyone gotten it?  It's going around in my area.  The first time we got it, I got into an argument with the caller because he couldn't tell me what agency he worked for, and started yelling that I was a criminal when I told him I wanted something in writing.  I called my local police and they said these guys have been making the rounds.
    Dude (scammer) just called me again.  I told him, no thanks, I'm familiar with this scam, and hung up.  The guy called back and left a voicemail that I really don't want to hear.  So annoying.
    I am right there with you! I am so tired of mentioning it to the doctor just to be told, "it's just Braxton hicks. It's you're bodies way of preparing for labor. You'll feel them lots more since this isn't your first pregnancy." Gosh darn it I know you're saying these are Braxton hicks but they are painful and I can time them! Why does my body need to have them this soon, and this painful, when it has been through labor before. At my last appointment the new doctor really set me on edge when he said all that and then had the nerve to say, well labor is painful. I guess I only remember it as sunshine and butterflies, well duh labor is painful. :-O
    They almost got my Mom last fall. She felt so stupid that she almost fell for it, like to where she was on her way to go get money to pay them. Thank God she came to her senses and started to connect the dots that it was not sounding legit. They kept calling and hounding her that my Dad was going to be arrested if she did not pay them, even after she told them she knew it was a scam.
    YES!!  The first time they called, they asked for my husband, and said he was going to be prosecuted.  Then started yelling at me that I'm a criminal because I wanted to know what agency they were with.  First they were talking about IRS and taxes, then something about criminal investigations... When I called the local police, the dispatcher told me that they'd duped some folks in our area and to fill out their report form online.  But it looks like you can only file a report if you've actually lost money, so I couldn't do it.
    They're so freaking persistent, though, it's incredible.
Thankful to be going on a trip this weekend and be able to hit the sales at the outlet mall to stock up on bras and probably more baby clothes. There is a Carter's outlet that has had jammies and onesies for $3-4 and Gymboree!!! Hurry up Thursday!
  • I'll throw in another doctor bitch.
    My OB is a big practice of 12 doctors.  I have yet to see the same one twice, and I likely won't. I've really liked everyone so far, but last week I had a lady doctor comment on my stretch marks which I think was stupid.  Then, I mentioned some odd cramping I had.  Didn't really feel like BH and they were happening even though I had 80plus ounces of water and rested, etc. She said not much she can do.
    This weekend I had some light spotting.  Its the first time all pregnancy, but I do have a cervical polyp that they said would likely bleed the entire pregnancy (even though it hasn't).  I called to let them know and asked if that could mean the polyp was growing or if something was changing since its the first time (at 30w) and I have all this cramping.  They said "probably the polyp".
    Well I understand that, but I don't understand why they think that "probably" should be sufficient for me.  Would it really hurt to just take a lookie-loo at my cervix??
    1. I failed my one hour glucose test so now I have to take the three hour one. At least it's at 730 am so I can just get it over with and I need to be on a high carb diet for three days ahead of time and I love carbs!!
    2. My husbands started this new project at work and he's working long hours. Nothing like some of the 24 hour shifts I know your ladies husbands have but 12 hour days everyday the past couple weeks, then when he gets home he's tired. He'll do a couple house hold chores, spend a very little bit of time with our DD, then plop on the couch playing games on his phone. I feel like there's nothing left for me and I starting to feel really distant and I'm starting to take it personal.
    Yeah she went as far as to get money loaded onto the Green Dot cards they wanted her to put it on, they even had her call them when she got to the place to load the money on the card. When she told me this I was like really Mom them telling you they wanted your money on a Greed Dot card didnt throw you off? It was them telling her that she could deduct the card fee from what she owed them that threw the red flag for her, she knew the real IRS would want all the money they were owed. She did go to the police and they said that they had just started to hear about the scam in our area.
    I feel bad telling this story because I know she is so embarrassed about it.
  • 1) DH's parents are coming to town for the 4th. Yippee. I found out yesterday that they get in Wednesday night not Thursday night. (They're flying to FL and driving 10 hours to see us for the 4th and then driving back to visit/help out with MIL's mom. It's cheaper to round-trip to Orlando than our nearest airport.) I'm just annoyed because I was going to use Thursday while they were driving to last-minute clean. Now, I have to clean today/tomorrow after nannying fussy babies all day. UGH. Also, I have no idea what day they're leaving. The plans have not been communicated well at all. (Confession- add this to the pet peeve thread, I hate people that don't communicate. I have dealt with it so much in the last month that it makes me want to scream.)
    2) One of the babies I nanny has bad reflux and they just ran out of her reflux meds but are hopefully getting more at her 4 month appointment on Thursday. However, that means she'll be fussy and very pukey for the next two days that I watch her. Good thing I watch her at home and can wear grungy clothes that I don't mind getting spit up all over. But still, it makes the other normally happy baby upset when the reflux baby is crying. And then my dog joins in and barks at them. My house gets noisy during the day. I'm going to have a headache when my ILs get here. Double UGH.
