So my DH accidentally popped our blow up pool. I wasn't mad though because my sister keeps bringing my nephews over to swim and I just cant handle all their craziness right now. Feel kinda bad about being relieved but I just cant

  • Baby Girl's crib still needs to be assembled. How long should I allow myself to do this on my own? DS's wasn't assembled before he was born either and my parents did it while I was in the hospital. DH isn't the most "mechanical" guy and I tend to take care of things like this around the house anyways. Is assembling this on my own realistic, or do I need a second set of hands?

Aren't you recovering from a c/s? What's she sleeping in now? I'd personally wait for DH to help just so you don't risk overdoing things.

@jnnfrrose6‌ - our crib was a two person job! DH did the majority of the work, but I definitely had to hold pieces for him as he drilled, like the big front and back pieces. It wasn't hard, just needed more than two hands. Be careful though since you're recovering still!

@Soon2BMrsN‌ yes on the c/s recovery. I'm 11 days out at this point and feeling good. So much better than last time recovery wise. I'm getting around really well, have very little pain at this point (unless DS manages to bang into the incision area), and ready to start my new normal.

Right now DD is in a cradle next to the bed at night or her bouncy seat in the day. She's a grunter after nursing and it's been tough the last few nights listening to her settle down so I think it's time for her to get in her own room so everyone can get a little more sleep.

Based on the feedback, I think I'll wait for my mom to give me a hand. She's coming over either today or tomorrow. Why make it more challenging than I have to.

I just ordered my Thirty-One Utility Tote.  I got the June Special for $25. I can't wait to get that beauty!

Did you know those are great to carry babies around in? ;)

A neighbor that sells thirty-one stuff got us a bag with Caitlin's name on it for daycare. It's sweet of her but I can't help but laugh when I look at it!
  • Push presents reminded me.... DH keeps asking what I would like for my birthday. I asked both Mom and MIL for a robe for bumming around in after I have the baby (I figure 2 is good - spit up will be abundant). But I dont know what to ask DH for. Anyone suggest anything I dont know I want yet? Haha
  • I keep running my stomach into things and it hurts. Mister thinks it is hysterical.
I've done this three times in two days.  Really hard.  This baby needs to come soon or else I'm going to be charged with in utero child abuse.  I've always been clumsy, but damn.

I've been doing this so much! Underestimating my size I suppose. The other day I cut my belly on the edge of the oven (it's a double oven high up) and I had a belly button "eyebrow" scab for about a week. >.<

Ok so I apologize in advance, I kinda feel like I've been dominating the last few pages of the rando thread with boohoo shit.... But this has been really bothering me for two day now and it's time to share:

So Friday night FIL sends out a big family email announcing Jonah's birth. Because I've been mostly estranged from that side of the family, it was a bit unexpected and Saturday FIL calls me to ask my thoughts on a shower because a lot of that side of the family have asked/offered/inquired. Now I don't have a problem with FIL or FIL's gf so I was cordial and pleasant and said that would be fine. I certainly don't need anything in terms of typical shower gifts but diapers/clothes are ok.

FIL tells me to email him dates on Sat/Sun coming up that would work for the shower. FIL goes so far as to let me know I would have final say on who is invited and who is NOT invited. Sure great whatever, I can be the bigger person, and I don't see the point of having a shower for the paternal side and not having baby daddy there so I agree to make nice and "coparent" and be there with stbxh.

THEN, FIL says "it's even up to you if you want "(new girlfriend)" there"......

Wait a goddamm fucking minute.... Did you seriously just ask me that??? Do I want to woman who broke up my marriage a mere 6 months ago at a shower for my brand new baby. A woman who moved my husband out of our marital home while I was already pregnant with our first child? Really? Do you really think she belong at our baby shower?

So I proceeded to use a few choice words such as homewrecker, whore, etc and my FIL quickly and awkwardly ends the conversation.

I don't plan to email him back at this point and if he inquires again, I will politely decline to attend and encourage them to proceed with a shower for baby daddy. Then "new girlfriend" can attend or not attend as she pleases.

    :-O Thats crazy. Completely crazy.
  • Arrghhhhhhhh im so mad!!!!!!!! The tech doing my BBP, which I have every week due to high blood pressure, just SHOWED ME MY BABYS PENIS. I didnt know!!!!! I cant unsee that!!!! 37 weeks and there goes my surprise. DH doesnt want to know still so I can keep my mouth shut for him but Im so sad!
  • I've been reveling (okay that's a bit of an exaggeration) in the fact that I have remained stretch mark free on my belly this pregnancy (hey, it's a total win..stretch marks are not nice, I have them elsewhere)....

    Well, karma is a bbbbbb....

Okay it's not that bad but I managed to burn my belly with my curling iron. It left a gnarly mark across the front that will probably scar.

At least I can explain stretch marks with a straight face.... how will I explain this burn without feeling the shame **facepalm***

Lesson--Never do your hair in a sports bra while pregnant. Cover that isht up! Naked bumps are asking for trouble hahah.

SAD!!!!! So sorry! But congrats, it's a boy! Enjoy!
  • I retract my statement about not understanding why there's the announcement thread and each seperate birth stories. I'll just label me the asshole for the day.

I would have been LIVID, they would not have heard the end of it.

Serious. That wasn't very nice of me.
  • @ichabody‌ *hugs* that's awful. Hopefully he was pressured into saying something and feels pretty dumb right about now. STBXH may have even suggested it and ruined the whole thing for himself as well? That's all awful, especially when you were trying so hard to work around it for LO's sake. Hopefully coparenting will go a bit smoother and now STBXH will see just how badly she is not invited to join in.

This is pretty annoying. Every ultrasound I have, the tech always ask if we are finding out before starting. This tech you had just pointed it out to you during the course of the check? Sounds like they need to refresh their protocol a bit with this.

Also, 3 hours later I get a text message from FIL's gf saying "You ok? Can't believe how stupidly insensitive men can be." Apparently FIL had told her about the phone call gone wrong and she was PISSED at him.

WHAT IN THE EVER LOVING FUCK-HELL.
Why would she even WANT to be there?!

    I am irate for you.

My thoughts exactly. Despite what previous posters have said, I'm sure if stbxh knew FIL had suggested that, he would be livid too. Stbxh likes to keep his dirty laundry hidden far far deep down and I highly doubt he would want me in the same room with her yet anyway.
  • Inspired by amlonica - For team green moms, just curious. Do/did you just not look at the ultrasound screen at all while the tech did the scan? Or did the tech tell you to look away at a certain point? I usually stared at the screen and could tell from what they were (or weren't labeling) if LO was a boy or girl.

Normally she says 'okay guys Im going south!' Or something along those lines, and DH and I stare at each other to make sure were not cheating. If she was going anywhere near that region we were warned. Ive always watched the rest of it so I didnt get worried this time.

Im so glad DH wasnt there because at least I still have that. He wants a son SO BAD and hes gonna be one crying crazy mess when he sees him. Its gonna be fabulous. :-)
    Silver lining! :)
  • @knittylady‌ The tech usually asked before she got started what we were having and we'd just let her know we weren't finding out. After that, just had the scan and never had to look away. It's not like that's an area of the anatomy that needs to be checked.
  • @jnnfrrose6‌ - good point. With DD, I saw our tech note the ovaries. With this pregnancy when she got to lower abdomen and there were no stops to type anything, I figured we were having a boy. They didn't 'reveal' his sex until the very end right though.
