  • Long day in the sun yesterday so we are laying low today. I feel like the worst mom ever, E got sunburned cheeks and nose even though I kept him in the shade all day. He had a wide brimmed hat and sunscreen, and still got red cheeks. I've been putting lotion on it like crazy. So much freaking mommy guilt.

  • I've been there with the sunburn, @slednecksmomma‌. It sounds like you did everything right with the hat and sunscreen, so no mommy guilt for you!

  • I'm so excited for the day DH can get the big V. I also want to get back on the pill when we're done having kids because I think it will help my skin, but I had an OBGYN tell me I shouldn't take hormonal BC because I get migraines that start with visual problems. She said this increases my stroke risk. Has anyone else ever heard of this??? Is fixing my horrifying acne worth a stroke? Possibly.

We went to the park and it was kind of a bust. My kid just wanted to swing for 40 min. Erm.

Oh, but I exercised for the first time in weeks! I still can't run, but the swelling went down in my toe so I went on a bike ride. I am so out of shape y'all. Only 5 miles and I'm huffing and puffing.

My kid treats the playground as a sandbox. Not interested in slides, swings... just sand.

  • @bearsbearsbears I bled for 8 weeks and then spotted for a while. Now I almost never have any bleeding. It is nice but kind if freaky for a while
  • I have not read any of this thread yet. Folding laundry while ds "naps". He has been chatting away in his crib for 40 minutes. I just leave him there As long as he isn't crying, right? I know his little butt was tired. He sounds happy, so I'm getting some stuff done

Stay off of the pill @littlestjerry‌. I had migraines with visual disturbances and I did have a stroke from the pill. Not worth the stroke for clear skin, though after the stroke, I don't get migraines anymore.
Oh my!!!!!!!!!!!! How often did you get migraines? That's frightening!

@triplea598‌ try to stay calm and breathe. It happens to the best of us. Just keep an eye on him. Dont be so hard on yourself, accidents happen.

I remember when DS rolled off the couch when he was an itty bitty and fell face first on the hardwood floor. I was terrified and I think I cried harder than he did. He's just fine! Kids are resilient creatures! :)

Hugs, @triplea598, I've been there. Like others have said, keep an eye on him and watch for lethargy or other weird behavior, but it probably just scared him.
  • Why is my kid doing this thing where he sticks his hand in his shitty diaper? DH actually dry heaved haha.

  • @theseaword‌ Did you end up making a sign for tonight?

@PeanutButterFox‌ I did not. We're going to dinner first and I was worried about the hassle of carting it around. But I'll take pics from my seat and post a few of Roman for you!

  • You ladies who had issues on the pill have me wondering if BC has anything to do with my vision problems.
Also I should be writing a paper for child psychology. Anyone have a topic idea for me? I have to find a study on something child psych related but I'm not sure what to go with.

  • I need to find a recipe for pinto beans.

We're having fajitas for dinner and my husband wants pinto beans.  So, he bought a can of pinto beans at the store.  He apparently thought they'd be already prepared.  Um.  No.

I have no interest in making them at all.

  • Excellent. Thanks @pobrecita I'm gonna see what I can find for that :)

    @jsgirl613 borracho beans!

Saute a little diced onion and diced bacon until cooked. Add drained, rinsed beans and half a beer. Simmer for...a while. I season with onion and garlic powder. Top with lime juice and cilantro.
This sounds awesome and easy. Thanks @pobrecita!

  • Home from a long pool, playground, and picnic outing. Got a vanilla diet DP at Sonic on the way home. Kinda made me feel like a teenager. Now the kiddo is watching Robin Hood (the Fusney animated version) and if the baby naps I'm making a refreshing gin cocktail. And cleaning? :( I can never get ahead of the mess. Should I just lower my standards even more?
  • Hmmm. All I can find is stuff about gender identity disorder. Maybe the general concept of when kids start with self-awareness?

  • I'm trying to refine my search with better terms. I suck at this.

  • Like I know what you're talking about is not gender identity disorder. I'm just having issues refining google so that's not all it gives me.

  • I'm literally about to hit myself in the face right now. Thanks ladies. The problem with most of the google stuff is when you find something that looks right it's usually like "now pay money for access to it!" Which, no.

  • Use the databases from your school library website. Can particular case studies be used for your paper? I'm always fascinated/horrified by the case of Genie.
  • @pobrecita Yeah, that's what I'm doing now. I didn't explain that very well.

  • Found one! It's about kids with disabilities and not gender identity. But I can view/use everything I need and it's actually an intriguing topic. Sad, but intriguing.

  • After 4 hours with SO'S siblings I remember I don't need to spend a ton of time with them. I also explained RBF to SO and he said "that's what she ( his twin) has!" Oh good I don't feel bad for tHinking it. It was not fun to look at over brunch.
Now to get mentally ready to hang with them all weekend on the fourth.

They look like they're in jr high. Very differing levels of enthusiasm on display.

  • @bearsbearsbears‌ I bled for that long after insertion too, but it did finally stop. Now Mirena is great.
When did it stop?  I'm just afraid it never will.
@bearsbearsbears - late to the party here, but this happened to me too. It finally stopped after 7- 8 weeks. My OB told me I could go on the mini pill to help w/the bleeding, but that the pill might affect my milk supply. So I didn't take the pill, but bleeding stopped on its own around 8 weeks.

Since then I haven't had a real period at all, which has been awesome. :) Maybe wait it out a couple more weeks?
