@lizabethc‌ thank you!!! Ok and one more question for y'all, does anyone know of a reason why FF would start my cycle over again if AF last longer than 10 days? Unfortunately I've been "blessed" with longer periods, and they are truly annoying.

Have you talked to your OBGYN about this?

No I haven't. Before I was on BCP's I had always had a longer period, and since coming off of it in December it just thought it was normal for me. But I guess that it's not? So I guess I'll be making an appointment soon with an OBGYN to talk about it.

Question/Concern 1:  I've only been charting one month, so only have 1 month of data in FF (however, I do have 12 months of my start/end period dates without temps)
Last month I O'ed on day 15, but FF is suggesting my "forecasted fertile days" don't start until CD13 this month.  If I know I O'ed on CD15 last month, shouldn't I assume my FW would start around CD11?  Why does FF not account for this?  Could it be that I have had several cycles extend into 33 days, while some only 25 days?

Question/Concern 2:  Should I be concerned if my cycles can range from 25 days to 33 days?  Is this a normal fluctuation?  I honestly never even noticed until I started really keeping track.

Thanks for the newb thread <3

Can i ask another question? I have soooooo many!!!

    Possible TMI

Anywho... I posted in WTO that I forgot to temp this morning ( I'm only cd6) and I took some ladies suggestion to check cm. Well I did and it appears to be ewcm so I'm just confused does that mean I'm about to O or I am O'ing? I'll take an opk later but I'm just confused what exactly it means when you have ewcm.

Also thanks for putting up with all my questions. I REALLY appreciate it!

ETA: added the TMI part :)

@MiraK03  I'm still a fellow newb too, but from everything I've read CM can be helpful in determining your fertile times but it is NOT as accurate as temping.  If you have EWCM around the middle of your cycle I'd say tap dat H, but don't use it exclusively for pin-pointing your O.

  • @DarcyHermione‌ thanks! I'm still learning about my cycle so I appreciate any input!

@mosdub‌ I have been trying to temp mainly but I had to wake up and leave very early this morning and forgot to temp. I checked cm and will do an opk just so my chart isn't empty for the day. But I will take your advice on tapping the H.... I just told him he needed to get home ;)

@MiraK03‌ I get Ewcm early in my cycle sometimes. I don't know why, but I do. It's always possible your FW could be beginning, so have sex in case. Some people do O around CD 8-10. Personally for me it means nothing. My body just likes to produce it.
Same. My body does stupid stuff. " Your fertile week is over! Have some EWCM!" Um.... thanks?
I feel like my CM is never accurate... I never dry up before my period... It's like water up until my new cycle begins then it is dry for a few days before starting over again... WTF Body.

FF is just making an educated guess.  I would definitely start having sex CD11 though.

This is totally normal.  It is common and normal to have your cycles fluctuate.

@MiraK03  I've had some fail days at temping too - it totally blows, especially around O time.

I had one where I got up around 4AM to let the dog out and when I got back to bed I realized that it would probably throw off my temp (I normally temp around 5:30AM).  Just entered the temp at 5:30 and made a note about it.

QFP means Quoted for Posterity or Quoted for Proof.  Sometimes you'll see QFT, which means Quoted for Truth.
Ha! I always read it as Quit Fucking Posting. Of course I've only seen it twice and it was under a tense thread.

@sandj918 haha that's how I always read it too, so that's why I was confused! Lol

I know the newbie post says "when in doubt", but I'm paranoid about doing a drive-by so I will always be in doubt No, I don't have a BFP. I'm just wondering how long a person needs to be an active member before it's considered a drive-by.

Since having a kid, a few hours for me.  Before, I'd have pre-O pain (like cramps), nothing for a day or so, then sharper pains for 1-3 hours.

  • FF ? How many temp during Shark Week? Is there any disadvantage to not? I'm at my parents' this week and it's proving difficult since schedule changes have DD in a sleep pattern hell but it's a good week to be here (and ok to be away from DH) especially if temping isn't mandatory right now.

My last few days before hand were a bit screwy too...

I do, but only because I'm a little anal in that sense,  I temp every day.  The only disadvantage is having to do it ;).  It doesn't make much difference charting wise, although if you have a long period, and ovulate early, it might be beneficial.

I usually do only because if I get out of the habit of temping it is hard to remember when I need to temp when I'm half asleep.  But totally fine not to temp during shark week unless you O really early.

Okay so this may have an obvious answer/be a dumb question: when cycle/month is asked, is that referring to how many cycles you've been through and months trying? In my case, I just got my first period last month since having my LO. I have been putting 1 for cycle and month. Is this correct? Thanks for starting this thread :)
Yes. For me I just go with months because my cycles are right around 25-30 days so it's pretty much the same number. For someone that has 90 day cycles, there is a disparity in the number of months vs the number of cycles so noting both makes sense. But it's totally up to you how (or if) you do it.

  • I have one about testing! Would it ever be possible to do an HSG in the same cycle as taking femara for ovulation? I know it's probably stupid but I have to take Provera now to induce a period so I can have an HSG done and I was really hoping to get to do a medicated cycle for July. Is that a stupid idea? if I had a blockage we could abstain for the fertile time and just use it to see how I respond to meds?

I know it's probably a bad idea but not Oing in 8 months is driving me crazy! :-S

  • How common is shooting pain for cramps?

I typically get REALLY BAD cramps during my period. The pain is so intense sometimes I can literally feel it shooting down to my kneecaps. Not just every now and again, but for days on end.

My gyno doesn't think this is a concern and just suggests IBU pre - period until mid period. I've always had bad cramps and been prescribed high dose IBU by the few gynos I've seen. I would take 600 - 900 mcgs a pop. Yes, I know this is bad. But even then I would still be in pain.

They tell me it's common. I don't know anyone personally who has this problem. Any of you ladies experience this?

Have you ever had an ultrasound done to check for cysts, polyps, or fibroids?  I have absolutely zero medical experience, but the one time I had pain like that I Dr. Google self-diagnosed it as an ovarian cyst.  My doctor said it was possible, especially because I do have fibroids, but since the pain lasted for about a minute and never happened again, it wasn't a concern.

I've had horrible, painful, missing school or work type cramps accompanied with vomiting since I first started my period.  But they're not shooting pains.

I feel for you! I get those radiating leg cramps too. They were A LOT stronger when I was younger though. Ibuprofen and taking a nap (even if it was for just 15 minutes) always helped relieve the pain in my legs.

My periods are always rough for me (bad cramps, vomiting, diarrhea, the leg thing) but most of it subsides by CD2. If you're in a lot of pain and nothing helps, then I would definitely bring it up to your doctor again.

Does being sunburned affect your temps? I haven't added today's temp to my chart yet but it's .90 higher than yesterday's temp. I've got a super awesome sunburn covering my face, legs, arms, shoulders and back.
  • @etoille‌ 15 minutes shouldn't give you an open circle. I've had temps vary by an hour and FF tells me that the variation in timing isn't big enough to impact temps.
