Here's where you can ask your questions that you want answers for, but have no idea where to ask them (or don't want to start a separate thread).

This if Flame Free, so bring on the questions!

(Thanks to @LindsRockies and @Diordra for the idea to do another one of these!)

  • Maybe we could fake ask and answer typical questions? So people get the idea? Or can ask questions pertaining to the ones suggested?

  • Erm well I would certainly ask something but I can't think of anything :|

  • @LindsRockies, the cupcakes were effing awesome.

Ok I'll ask a question.  I may have hypothyroidism or Hashimoto's (getting referred to an endocrinologist for further testing but at this point it's pretty clear one of those are the problem).  Anyone have experience with the impact of medication for either of those with TTC?  Assuming I start meds and get my thyroid working properly, will I need to go off them if I get pregnant?

PenguinMG - NO!  Don't discard temps.  As long as you got three hours of sleep before your temps, please keep them.

FertilityFriend gave you an open circle probably because you reported taking your temp at a different time.  I don't give FF a time.  Eff that - I temp after three hours of sleep.  Sometimes it's 4am, sometimes' it's 8am.  I always see a shift!  Remove the times for your temps if you want!
I seriously did not know you could not give FF a time!  I've been horrible with not recording temps because I've been waking up at different times and didn't think they would be accurate with the time difference.  This is great.

  • Oh I have a question, not sure why I didn't think of it earlier...FF related. Typically I never discard temps, like ever. But 2 of the last 3 nights were super bad sleep nights, 1-2 hours each at a time. Anyways, lack of sleep caused my temps to spike, even though I know there is no o yet. Problem being, I think today or tomorrow is O day and these temps are jacking with my cover line and potential O date. Would you discard high temps you know are wrong close to O?

I have a question...maybe hypothetical, but I think you can still answer it!

The first few nights of temping this cycle I was having trouble sleeping. I was temping the first time I woke up, it was around 4am, so that I could temp on a solid 3 hours of sleep. Last night, I managed to sleep all the way to my alarm (6am), but FF gave me an open circle for today. If I am indeed sleeping right again, should I discard the first 3 temps for this cycle from 4am or will FF work it out no matter what?

ETA or should I wait for more information from OPKs, CM, etc?

Now I'm nervous I'll be the only one asking a question :-SS
I saw ppl already answered but I wanted to add I just change my time to "NA" every morning when I enter my temp. Seems to work for me :)

I discarded a temp last month because I drank too much and slept poorly and had a really high temp.  I recorded it initially but then my temp went back down and I was pretty sure I hadn't O'd so I discarded it  at that point.  I probably shouldn't have even taken a temp since I had only slept for 1.5 hrs prior to taking it.

  • @NariaDreaming and @bibliothecary, thank you for the advice.  I'm just trying to be prepared for whatever may happen since based on my symptoms and the blood work it looks like thyroid issues are what is causing so many health problems I have had.

I am glad the meds can be taken throughout pregnancy-- I can handle regular blood draws to monitor everything.  I appreciate your help!

Actually the opposite.  They *may* need to up your dosage.

They will probably test your thyroid about every two months when you're pregnant. Is is important to keep your levels under control. Taking your thyroid medication is essential especially during pregnancy as hypothyroidism can cause preeclampsia, low birth weight, preterm labor or miscarraige.
ETA: Fun factoid-Synthroid is one of the few medications that is pregnancy category A by the FDA which is the safest category a drug can be given.

My vacation next month is "convienently" (read: sarcasm) the week I am expecting AF. I've never used one before, but I will totally covert over if they are beach friendly and won't fill up with ocean water!

Does being underweight only affect your fertility if it cause you to not ovulate? I'm slightly underweight and have been TTC for almost a year now. I ovulate regularly but always wondered if my weight had anything to do with me not being pregnant yet.

What would you consider CD1 for me (had a mc last month).

May 24th- Had very light pink spotting in early afternoon and then nothing the rest of the day
May 25th- Had bright red blood when I wiped and some dripped into the toilet but then turned brown for the rest of the day and never had to wear a pad
May 26th- Brown spotting all day
May 27th- Bright red blood again and had to wear a pad
    May 29th-hCG was <5

    May 27th.
    +1

My first period after this loss was similar. I didn't count CD1 until I needed to wear a pad. I reviewed the cycle & spotting with my doc, he concurred.

Did it this week. Didn't fill up with pool water. Unless ocean water is much more crafty than its chlorinated cousin, I think you'll be fine.

The only issue to consider is that they come in different sizes so you would need to make sure you have the right fit before your trip.

You could have left it in and marked "Sleep Deprived" and "Drinking". FF would give you an open circle but it would still have some information for the day.
I marked this morning's temp as sleep deprived and got an open circle.  It had been bothering me all day but now that it's been brought up does FF take that into consideration when it gives you crosshairs and a cover line?

Typically yes. Assuming, of course, you're eating a healthy diet and getting enough calories/nutrients each day.

  • I have a GTKY- Do those of you who temp do so throughout the entire month? Or do you take days off early in your cycle or late in your cycle?

dazz- I had a Diva Cup, it was rough for me. I'm not opposed to the idea and really tried to like it, but it felt like it was suctioning my ute out. I know it's an over share, but I can't describe it any better.

I can only share my personal experience: last year and 10lbs ago when I started TTC I was underweight. My OBGYN removed my IUD and during that appointment I told her we were going to start trying and asked if I should gain a little weight. She said that as long as I ovulate I will be fine and my weight will not negatively impact my fertility. I ended up gaining weight anyway because cookies, but at least in my case my OBGYN didn't think it would impact my fertility. Also my younger sister is super tiny and she gets pregnant easier than Michelle Duggard.

I temp all cycle except during shark week (as it is now being called). Since I temp vaginally-1 it would be gross and 2 it is like a vacation since that week temps are all messed up anyways.

  • This is my first month charting, and I'm shocked that it's going half decently. I can see a clear thermal shift, despite odd hours and much wine. I will take off during my period, thanks for the input ;)

I'm reading into every temp during my luteal phase. Crazy party of one here for duty.

  • Cat I'm just now obsessed with calling it shark week. That's awesome.
  • My turn!!

I've been to the RE and they've run ALL the stuff that needs to be run.  Everything is normal so we're chalking my issue up to progesterone deficiency.  I'm overweight and continue to wonder if low progesterone has something to do with my being overweight. I forgot to ask my RE this and she didn't even mention me losing weight, but did encourage it when I brought it up on my own.  So question is:

Can low progesterone be caused by being overweight?

I've googled this and can't find any reliable sources with this type of information.

  • Conflicting information and probable stupid question!

Some places say having too thick a uterine lining (sometimes attributed to late ovulation) can be detrimental to implantation.  Yet I see pomegranate juice being touted as being helpful to fertility because it helps increase uterine lining.  Since I ovulate "late" in an otherwise regular cycle, should I avoid pomegranate juice?  (I love my Pom with coconut water.)
