I may be slammed for this...but I can't stand seeing 2+ year old kids with binkis in their mouth all day long. I never say anything to the parents because if that's what works for them, whatever, but I do secretly hate seeing it when the kid doesn't need soothing- they're playing at the park, jumping on a trampoline, swimming, whatever and the binki is shoved in their mouth.
At 2 years old I think.. eh.. whatever. I have seen kids that look well older that my DD with Binks.. I don't know if I quite side-eye.. it just kind of makes me go "ummmm".

My husband's motto is "if they are old enough to ask for it, they're too old for it."
Luckily for us, neither of our children took one.

Fail. Summer brain? I totally read "binkis" as "bikinis" and was like "I hope the child is clothed in something else if they're outside or really slathered in sunscreen."

However, I am starting to believe that a lot of today's problems: social, environmental, political, economic, etc... are because there are just too many damn people competing for resources. And I think we seriously need to think about how our breeding impacts this.
UO DEBATE TIME!
I feel more it's a distribution of resources and greed. Places in 3rd world countries often are denied aid for reasons like drug presence, or war lords hoarding any resources attempted to be sent in. First world countries own waaaaaay too much stuff and often just throw away things that are still usable.
And I've always been of the opinion that people should try to grow SOMETHING they eat. Starter packs with herbs already sprouted run just a little more than buying a few oz of the stuff dried (depending on brand), and all they need is a little water and a sunny window.
And I know I'm a bit crazy there and die hard. I actually grew tomatoes in buckets once and cross-pollinated them myself with q-tips, soooooooo I'm kind of dedicated to the idea that anyone can grow something. Also, figured out how to grow tomatoes outside in Alaska without a green house. Ain't no regular person got the money to make a greenhouse.
So, really, I guess my UO would be I find lawns mostly wasteful.
Eventually, I'd LOVE to have something completely ridiculous where basically all of the stuff on my land is either human edible or natural habitat for animals-- grass that gets mowed is rarely an acceptable habitat for stuff.
Also, I've fought HOAs that say "no gardens, decorative plants only." Peas and tomatoes are considered decorative in places in SE Asia. I won. haha.
Edit to add links to shove my ideas down your throat more.
I agree with the naked belly pics. It's a no for me. I also kind of agree with the large family thing too. I am one of six, really three, but my mom raised her three step kids too. I feel that it was hard for her to make time for all of especially working full time.
My UO is I hate pie. It's a texture thing and I know it's all in my head. I just can't even look at them. It doesn't even matter what kind.
My UO is I don't think people who have huge families (let's say 6+ kids) really have enough time to give individual attention to each of their kids.
I'm one of 6 kids. I'd have to ask to be sure but I am pretty confident that none of my siblings feel neglected in any way by my parents. We're very close actually. My older brother, myself, and sister don't like live at home anymore but my 3 younger brothers do and we still see each other at least a few times a month for family stuff. I think we were all spread out in age enough that we each got our moments.
I've been bashed on FB for this one, and it will probably happen here as well, but Illegal Aliens seriously piss me off. It probably comes from working in the medical field and doing surgeries on Patients that cost close to $100,000 while border Patrol agents sit outside their rooms for days. Who pays for their care? Oh that's right, working, tax paying Americans. It seriously pisses me off. Oh and then there's the times I've been in accidents (not my fault, i was rear ended) with people who are undocumented with no license and no insurance. Now I'm all pissed all over again. Thanks for letting me vent my UO.

I agree. That's part of the reason why DH and I have talked about adopting if we decide we want more than 2 children.
I'll have to find a link to it later, but I was at a conference yesterday with Bill Nye as the speaker (a nerd conference), and he was talking about population growth, CO2, and how we're basically going to have to start living differently if the population keeps growing like it is because between the resources and environmental impact, we can't sustain the recent trends.
I think they should send the children crossing the boarder back to their home country (unless they have parents here legally, which I don't know why they wouldn't already be with them). 50,000+ already and not stopping, estimating at 140k. If they want to come here, why should they be granted rights above the people who are trying to go through the legal process??
I agree. I don't mind if someone comes to the US and takes the proper steps to become a citizen (I have no idea what those steps are), but people who are in this country illegally should NOT be given care or public aid above those who ARE citizens.

@LadyXaverian what do you prefer? Illegal Immigrants? But per Webters "Alien: a foreigner, especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they living." It's not meant as a derogatory title.

Thanks for the dictionary definition. Lots of words are not "meant" to be derogatory but are still hurtful.
I don't mind illegal immigrants, but I personally prefer the term undocumented immigrants. People might do things that are illegal but people are not illegal.
Anyway, word choice aside, I understand why there are things about them being here "pisses you off", but they are still human beings with a life story that we probably know very little about.
I agree that something needs to be done to better manage the situation, and I don't know what that is, but I can't bring myself to be pissed off at people for trying to get away from something or get to something to make their lives somehow better, no matter how misguided they were in their methods.

Most undocumented immigrants work and pay taxes. There are also many legal citizens who drive unlicensed and uninsured or have surgeries they don't pay for.

They require money and education and resources-- things which most undocumented immigrants have no access to. I know because I've done it legally.

Who are these undocumented immigrants who are given more care or aid than citizens? Just curious. My assumption is that most citizens have a lot of advantages that undocumented immigrants don't.
In N out is hands down, by far, superior to any fast food burger chain, including 5 Guys.
And now I want a double double and some fries.
I visited in Vegas and was not that impressed. I do love me some 5 Guys though.
I think it's a west coast thing. I wasn't impressed by 5 guys, but I had grown up on In N Out. In college, the nearest one was a 2 hour drive through and over Lake Tahoe. We made that trip some weekends just for the burgers

While i agree that people should come over legally, its a long process. The pastor at my church lived here for 7 years before he was able to become a citizen. He was from Canada for anyone wondering and then my husband had a friend in high school who it took his family 10 years to finish the whole process. His school threw a party for the kids. But again, its be best if people took the legal approach, but also if they are trying to get away from drugs or sex trafficking I can't really blame them for coming in illegally.

Children and teens brought to Lackland will be provided with education, foster care programs, and "behavioral treatment centers." The projected cost of such programs, as well as the cost of the housing, has not been disclosed to U.S. taxpayers. The federal government was forced to utilize Lackland as its own facilities can no longer accommodate the number of illegal immigrants waiting to be processed, reports state. At the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) sector alone, more than 1,000 illegal immigrants are being apprehended per day.
On the big family note. I never felt neglected, my parents took great care of the 6 of us and love my siblings, biological or not. I just feel that I didn't really get to spend that much one on one time with my mom. I would trade it for less siblings though and now that we were all grown she spends individual time with us. I think it was harder growing up because we were so close on age. There is only an 8 year age gap from youngest to oldest and three of us are within a year and a half
I may be slammed for this...but I can't stand seeing 2+ year old kids with binkis in their mouth all day long. I definitely read this the first time as "bikini," and I was super confused. Like, who runs around with a bikini in their mouth??
My friends with tons of siblings always had such close/fun households! My best friend was a middle child of 8, and I adored going to her house. Such a loving a creative bunch.

I disagree with the bolded. I was and am still told this with BFing LO and I call BS. Why would you think a kid asking for something of comfort means they are too old for it? I just don't understand that mentality.
I would agree on the maternity pics especially when the dad is also shirtless. Even if he has a nice body I'm just like weird... So very weird.
My BFF did a pic of her husband, 3 year old son, and newborn daughter shirtless. Then one of just the son and daughter shirtless (they looked naked from the angle it was taken). I know it was supposed to be natural and beautiful, but it looked weird and creepy to me!
1.) I also read that first post as "bikini." Must be a summer thing!
2.) MH is philosophically opposed to having more than two biological children, as well. He thinks it's just socially and ecologically irresponsible. I sort of had my heart set on three, but I do understand his position, and we are not opposed to growing our family further through adoption. I only have one sibling, and my mother had only one but my dad had four siblings. I remember, as a kid, that visiting my dad's family was just a lot more fun because there were so many cousins/aunts/uncles to see. My mom's side was fine, too, but I only had 2 cousins on that side. I don't know, I guess I've always envied families with more children.
3.) I agree with @Lanatir regarding growing something of your own. I have tried a couple of times, but it's not easy where I live. We live in the mountains, at a fairly high altitude (about 8300ft), so even in summer our nights are quite cool. Also, our soil isn't naturally suited for gardening. Those are my excuses. Now, there are loads of ways to get around those excuses and have a successful garden in our locale, I just haven't had the time/financial resources/energy to do it. Yet. I have every intention of having a successful garden one day. In the meantime, we try to shop at farmer's markets to buy locally (within the state) grown produce, and we've also been members of a CSA in the past (though we aren't this year).

I think the punishment should be much harsher if you deliberately murder an innocent child.
