Um. My kid started screaming NO! at me again just now. It's only like an hour since she woke up from her last nap, but I was pretty much at my wit's end. I told her "looks like you need more night-night time." I went in and laid her on her bed, walked out and flipped off the light. SHE'S LAYING THERE ALMOST ASLEEP! What the hell?
Oh wait, now she's standing up playing with her blankets. Either way, she's in there, alone, in bed, not crying.

My kid bit it at the park today and tore up her leg. She scraped her entire knee with a scrape down her shin as well. She cried for literally 10 seconds, then saw some boy was on HER SLIDE so she had to go at least say hi to him. She seriously jumped off my lap. At least she didn't focus on it?

Guys. My mom is driving me crazy with the junk food. Help! I feel like I've hinted several times that I don't want that stuff in the house but she keeps coming home with more crap. Cinnamon buns, donuts, mini muffins, cookies, ice cream, chips... it's a nightmare for me because I really lack self control with that stuff. I'm trying to pretend it's not there but it's FREAKING HARD. My period makes it worse
She knows I'm trying to lose weight so it really bugs me. I feel like I'll upset her if I ask her to stop. She thinks she's getting treats for the boys but no one needs that crap.
Sawyer got bit at school yesterday! They called me at work to tell me and said he was fine, he barely even cried. They washed it and iced it. When I went to pick him up this is what I see! " height="404" width="229" /> This is 4 hours after it happened! This morning he has a bruise there! I am kind of upset that daycare let this happen so badly! Their excuse was that he didn't cry so they didn't see it. It makes me think they don't even watch the kids! We taught Sawyer that when someone bites him you say STOP! NOT NICE! He spent about 30 minutes last night chasing the dog saying it every time she bit one of her toys! So precious!
@chiricast Thanks! He was acting normally but from the looks of it the kid latched on to him pretty good. I haven't gotten a call today about anything so hopefully the teachers have it under control and it doesn't happen again!
@jwildin Emma was biting the same two girls over and over again for a couple weeks I've worked with the school and they ended up adding an aid to her class to help keep a better eye out and it hasn't happened since. If it is a problem in his class maybe that could be an option?

Yea, if it happens again I will have to talk with the teachers. I was just surprised at how bad it was. Although he did get a kick out of scrubbing his arms when they washed it. When we got home he pointed to our sink and said "Mama, rub rub rub" as he was rubbing his bite mark! I love that little boy!
@jwildin, that's a doozey! J and K had bites like that maybe a month ago. It was funny because the bite marks were identical and in the same place on both girls, the left forearm! Our daycare has a few biters and the provider was really upset by it. I assured her that I wasn't mad and I get that it happens when littles play together. My nephew, however, got bit on his FACE and it broke the skin. Something like that would probably upset me a little!
Alice tends to only really act out when she's getting tired. So when she stops listening and starts being a little shit, I ask her if she's ready to go to bed. Usually she says "no nigh-nigh mama!" and stops doing whatever she's doing (or starts doing whatever she's supposed to be doing) and that's that. Well today, she was messing with the blinds in the living room. She knows she's not supposed to. She'll walk up to them and say "no no no" then giggle and walk away. Anyway, I asked her if she wanted to go to bed. She said "huh?" and kept playing with them. I told her "If you keep playing with those, you have to go to bed." She said "sure" and kept playing. So I picked her up and said "Ok, bedtime for you now." She blew the blinds a kiss and said "nigh nigh!" Um. Ok. so now she's napping. Whatever works I suppose. She just doesn't usually react like that. LOL

@Hismom12 My mom is pretty overweight so she shouldn't be bringing home so much junk to begin with. And she's been going to the gym and seeing a nutritionist for several months but I haven't noticed a difference. I think it comes down to the fact that there's too much junk food.
Guys, this parenting stuff is hard. One issue I'm dealing with lately is deciding which battles to pick and then staying consistent. I just feel like I can't possibly pick every. single. battle and stay consistent. The remote control, the curtains, throwing food, hitting, tantruming.. it's too much! And now I'm starting to become a yeller. Just feeling kind of loser-ish lately!
I do think talking them down works to an extent. Lately I've been saying things like "you're a big girl now and big girls don't act like that." They just kind of look at me like "wha?"
Getting down on alices eye level and talking to her seems to help here too. I know there is no reasoning with an almost 2 year old, but it at least calms her down and wards off a full blown tantrum.
But yes. Picking my battles is very hard. One of my battles is her screaming no and laughing. That's not ok with me. But when she does it with everything, it's hard to find the line.

@BeaF12 I'm sort of the same. E walks and talks and does a lot of big boy stuff but I find myself babying him since he is the baby of the house. I'm with you 100% on the discipline challenges for older kids that I just redirect E most times.
It is my H's birthday today and I kind of forgot about it. Whoops! Off to the store to pick up a present and cake after work. I can't believe I forgot. Good thing my mom stopped by my office to drop off his birthday present.
We came home from my h's b'day dinner to our basement starting to flood from our crazy rain downpour we had. It only rained for half an hour but two of our window wells were full of water. After lots of towels in the window well and my h bucketing out water we managed to get it all fixed. Can't wait for our new windows to get in so we can fix it so this won't happen again.
When Alice gets to laughing really hard, she gets the hiccups. Every single time. Is that normal? I mean, I know it was normal when she was little, but even now? It's the gassy burp/hiccup mix kind, too. It hurts me just listening to her!

Just been back to the Dr, T has tonsillitis! When will this poor girl get a break?? She was fine after her op on Wed afternoon and yesterday but had a raging fever this morning. I'm supposed to go out of town for a conference next week, leaving on Sunday, so I'll see about that.
Im hanging out at the social security office to finally have my name changed to my married name. Its only been 4 years. Im finally doing it because I have to have my drivers license and passport renewed. I got here 5 minutes after they opened and I have already been waiting for an hour. I can't believe how many people are here.
