I thought it would be fun to look ahead, to a time when we are beyond all the aches and pains of being 68 weeks pregnant and the fears of delivery, and think about how we want to spend our time off this summer.
Here is my bucket list of things to do with my toddler (2.5 y.o) and newborn this summer, once I've recovered enough from delivery to get out and about:
- local beach days
- easy walking trails
- fly a kite
- crabbing off the dock
- picnic
- zoo
- roast marshmallows
- swan boats (we're outside of Boston)
Re: Summer Bucket List with a Newborn
"Your truth is different from my truth, and we're both right."
TTC since March 2013. BFP 4/13/13, blighted ovum discovered 6/6/13, m/c 6/8/13.
BFP 11/10/13, EDD 7/25/13 - stick little owlet!
Hide inside until October.
Weep excessively
Sit around nursing like a cow
Walk 9 trillion times around the neighborhood to lose the weight
I'd like to have a baby without needing therapy and pills like last time.
My plans are to buy a kiddie plastic pool, a giant fucking tub of bubbles and sidewalk chalk to keep DD occupied and happy while I deal with a newborn. I also plan to become best pals with Dora, Diego and George.
Seriously? Crabbing? Boating? Kite flying? So far off my radar they're in another country.
* Take her on some walks outside
* Visit with some local friends who have kids
* Take the baby to DH's work for a visit
* Go home to Iowa for a family visit a month or so after the birth
We'll see, though. I want to roll with things as much as possible and try to cut myself some slack if I need more time for recovery or if I need more time at home to figure out how to take care of the baby.
Good luck with your TX-OR flight!
Give birth
Talk to adults at least a few times a week
Make things (food, DIY stuff, canning) so that I have an outlet

Good luck with your c/s. My second one was so much easier than the first. I hope your son has fun with his kite.
Baby G born 6/6/14, 37 weeks 1 day due to preeclampsia. 5lb12oz 19"
#2 due Christmas 2016.
Then he's in school full time after labor day, so I'll concentrate on napping and working out like a crazy person before I have to go back to work again and not have time for anything
1. Master cloth diapering
2. Go on lots of walks around the neighborhood
3. Try out new recipes
4. Finish up some sewing projects
5. Maybe join a mommy group?
6. Visit my coworkers and show off my baby girl
7. Can lots and lots of veggies
8. Multiple trips to Starbucks!
-have the weddings we attend in august and September go as smoothly as possible
-hang out a lot at home until SO is done with overtime season (fall)
Come fall, I'm excited for:
-beach days (it will be 85+ until late October)
-trips to the mountains or the city
-more likely, a Santa Cruz day trip every weekend
Living in central California leaves a lot of options >2 hours away so I'm more excited for next summer so the car trip isn't so hellish
