Fuck there are a lot of diapers on the market! How in the hell am I supposed to know what he needs and how many... It's going to take me 45 min alone in the isle to read all the choices and what sizes/price per unit! And why do they have to have catchy names (little movers, swaddlers, sensitive snugglers, etc) to add to the size numbers?!
Sure I get the average 10-15 diapers a day, but how fast is this little guy going to be in NB verses moving up to size 1? Then 2? And can I exchange them if they're unopened and I buy too many of a smaller size?? Obviously these are things you can buy ahead of time or those crazy couponers would be SOL. So my choices are to buy at full price as needed or to make an uneducated FTM guess. Awesomeness.
Rant over. I'll be in the diaper isle if anyone needs me.
I totally agree, but I'm loving the fact that you type "Diaper Isle". Now I'm thinking of some beautiful tropical retreat where everything is made out of diapers.
@chrinikki1@Emilyfae Like PP said, pretty much every store will return unopened diapers as long as it's something they carry. Also, just from my experience with them in the NICU, I like the Pampers Swaddlers.
So, two birds made a nest under the eaves of my porch roof. It took them weeks and then Vi (the mama bird) laid eggs and they hatched a few days ago. I was excited to see the 4 baby birds chirping away and Vi seemed so proud of her little babies. THEN, a few days later, Vi stopped showing up and I stopped hearing the chirps. DH went out there and looked. All the babies were dead. It's been very hot (90s-100s) and he thinks they died because of the heat. I cried on and off for about an hour after he took down the nest and buried it. I'm still so sad about it. I know, it's nature and the circle of life, but ugh! I'm in the same boat. I have a baby growing in me and I'm nesting. Is it stupid to feel empathy for little Vi bird and her babies?
Not stupid at all. We had a nest of birds in our yard and we checked on them every day with mama screeching at us from the garage room. DS liked to watch the mama bird delivering worms and got excited every time he saw her. One day the nest was destroyed and the birds were gone. I was hoping they just flew away, but Dh admitted later he found two of the three babies on the ground under the tree. I was pretty sad.
@AutumnBonfire DH closed the blinds before he went out there and he was so sweet about it. It's so sad because they were so vulnerable and little. I wonder what destroyed the nest in your yard? Another bird?

I have no idea. Maybe a squirrel or a chipmunk? I don't know if they go after birds' nests. We get the occasional stray cat too.
Wtf, random etsy seller? I ordered a coming home outfit from you on may 11th. You told me standard turnaround time is 10-14 days, and asked for a need-by date just to assure I had it in time. I was generous and told you June 15, a month before my due date and 2 weeks longer than you said you needed. It hasn't been shipped, and you can't bother to respond to my messages?
If I don't see it shipped in two days, I'll be contacting etsy about your shop. Also, I already ordered a different custom layette from a different shop, almost a month after my order with you, and she informed me it will be shipped soon.
I don't have the patience to bitch out on you right now, and you're making me annoyed...especially because I prefer to spend my money on small businesses and private shops. You're giving them a bad name.

I have been going round with my Etsy person that is doing the letters for Emma's name for the nursery. But at least she started returning my emails....
I ordered some hair bows (for newborn photos and just to have) almost two months ago, and the seller's shop listed 2-3 weeks as the general ship time. I waited until she was 2 weeks overdue before e-mailing her and politely asking when she expected to ship them.
She apologized and said she'd mail them out right now and throw in an extra hair bow for the trouble. Great, right?
Well, it's been over a week SINCE then, and my order still hasn't been marked as shipped. If you're not going to do something, why e-mail me and pretend you are? So annoying and unprofessional. At this point I will be surprised if I get the bows before I go into labor.
I had a bad Etsy experience over Christmas. I ordered a gift for my sister three weeks before Thanksgiving. A week later, she marked it as shipped. A week before Christmas, when I still hadn't received it, I emailed her and she apologized, citing that she was SO BUSY OMGGGGG and asked me if I really needed it that soon or if it could wait another week.
Um. It's a Christmas gift. I need it.
I didn't see her email until the next day, so when I responded, she told me I responded too late and it probably wouldn't be there on Christmas, but the day after. She refunded the purchase and I sucked it up and explained to my sister.
Did I get the damn thing on the 26th? Hell no. I didn't get it for another two weeks. When I emailed her two days after Christmas, she apologized and said she "forgot" because the holidays were just SO CRAZY.
It makes me nervous to work with anyone else on Etsy.

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.
So my house was broken into today. The police caught the guys and got our stuff that they stole back. They'll be going to jail for a long time, (caught with drugs and unregistered stolen guns and linked to several other burglaries in town) but this momma really has lost her piece of mind. Thank god we weren't home. Our house alarm is what scared them off before they got more, and their pure stupidity is what got them caught. Why are there people out there who do this stuff? Thankfully these guys weren't masterminds and got what they deserved.
Thank you guys for the well wishes! It really means a lot. I agree it's the sense of security loss that is way worse than any of the rest of it. It is going to be tough feeling safe for a while probably. I'm the most worried about my 12yo SS though. Hoping he still feels safe at our house. They took some of his stuff too and at 12, that was a bigger deal to him. He'll get it all back and seems fine right now, just hoping he is really ok.

That is so scary - I'm glad it had a happy ending, but wow!
@rachelchristina thats so scary Im glad no one was home. Lately bumps in the night have been scaring me more... im considering an alarm system here for more piece of mind.
@TallMomma29 that's awful. I would have screamed. Our dog started drinking from my pee-filled toilet last night. I don't flush at night because 1) I pee so much and 2) because our bathroom is attached to the master bedroom and it would wake DH. Gross doggie.
I have been overanalyzing everything every time I go to the bathroom, and yesterday after I wiped there was a tiny dead spider on the toilet paper :-O
Oh my lawddd I would have died. Or possibly gone into labor when I saw the spider from the shock!
Pre-pregnant me would have had a heart attack and died right there! But there are so many gross things going on with my body these days that after a few seconds of surprise I was just like "of course a dead spider just came out of there too!" and started laughing ;-)

I'm currently in "Ow, that hurts, should I be timing this?" limbo and have been for 4 hours... I'm seriously one of those women who needs her water to break so I don't sit here second guessing myself.
It's my last day at work, finally! Also, I hit my quarterly goal this morning so I'm going to get a bonus check at some point while on maternity leave! Wooooooo!!!!
The hubs and I tried to do some estate sale/ thrifting this morning and I think I got overheated. Now, I'm laying on the couch watching Lifetime and I just saw a preview for "Stolen from the Womb" tonight...
It looks terrifying, about a crazy woman who steals a friend's baby. It has Alex Mack in it (Nickelodeon throwback). I'm considering watching.
Ha...I loved that show. I would totally watch that movie if DH wasn't around...
I had a come apart today because I realized how much I have left I want to accomplish before the baby arrives on Tuesday (induction due to medical reasons). I was just let off of bedrest but I physically cannot do everything I need to do. DH has done nothing related to the baby and he asked if I was mad at him today. I didn't want to really go into everything because some things I am feeling may be a little over the top, but I did ask him if there was anything he noticed that the baby might need. He said no. I said, um a place to sleep maybe? So he moved the bed for me so I could put the PNP in our room. I now feel much better. Looking back maybe I should have moved the bed myself because I would really rather go into labor on my own than be induced. A herniated disc might suck though.
Holy wow my vag hurts. I'm having awful pains inside. I know this is normal. I just had to tell someone and this isn't the ideal fb status.
I totally have bowling bowl crotch and feel like I've been riding a bike for about 6 hours to long! Plus, I'm swollen down there, it freaks me out a bit.
*raises hand* Same here... and it feels like my kid should be dangling somewhere around my knees, he's dropped so much.
I chatted with my BIL today, and he relayed how conversations with his mom (my MIL) about me go : "Oh she looks so great, she doing good and taking care of herself" aww, so sweet! "Her arms are skinny."
