GTKY: What Region Are You In?

edited June 2014 in October 2014 Moms
Are you a native to your region?

-Born and raised! South East/ Mid Atlantic over here.

What will the weather be like when LO is born this October?

-EDD is 10/7. And to be honest, it will still be pretty warm. *Maybe* cool enough for long sleeve shirts outside. Perfect weather!

Re: GTKY: What Region Are You In?

  • I may as well live in space for the differences that happen over here sometimes :)  But the weather is similar to coastal New England so I'm at least thankful for the crisp air in October!

Born and raised in the south suburbs of Chicago :)
Weather is always all over the place here... Could be anywhere from 90 and humid to 25 and snowy... Typical. Haha
  • I'm a born and raised michigan girl!! Weather could go either way for us, but the last few years it has still been warm (80s).

  • I live in the Midwest now (Indiana), born and raised in the Southeast (Kentucky).  I'm having the baby at 37 weeks, right at the beginning of October, so it could be lovely and mid-60/70s, or weirdly cold, or still hot.

We live close to Canada in NY. Raised here too!
Who knows what the weather will be like. There were many Halloweens where it snowed like crazy but I remember a few warm ones so... I hope it's not too cold so I don't have to wear too many layers on the big day!

  • Mid Atlantic (I wasn't sure what to click in the poll so I didn't vote). It will most likely be just starting to get cool here, but not cold yet. Long sleeves and maybe a light jacket weather.

I'm in Florida, so with our strange mix of non-"natives" (I grew up in Arkansas) it is kind of like living in a cultural mishmash. It's always interesting. And it is nicely affordable, but I do miss living someplace with seasons. Our weather is reliably still disgusting in October.

  • Born and raised in PA where the Octobers can vary but usually the air is crisp and its hoodie weather around that time. I LOVE Fall around here! the changing leaves are so beautiful! :x

  • Pittsburgh, Pa born and raised! October is all over the place here. I remember it snowing a few times for Halloween growing up. But it can also be really nice and mild. I'm kind of at a loss for what I'm gonna need clothing wise for the first month. Suggestions??

Similar, but far NW suburbs (I hate being referenced as a suburb - we are fricking 60+ miles away!).

Really hoping for a nice warm - not hot - October this year!

  • @jlz32185 - Layers!  Short sleeve onesies, pants and a sweater or something to put over it just in case...layers are your friend!  Also, oddly, I had a friend who's peditrician said to keep her LO in two layers all the time - even in the summer?  HUH?  But ok...When we went outside it was long sleeves but inside short sleeves were fine.

Yoga pants with a long sleeve shirt/blouse (if you're feelings fancy)?

  • Born in New England, raised in Cleveleand and Chicago Suburbs, now back in New England...So, October could be snowing or 95...not sure yet. Baby is due right around out anniversary (10/7), which was 58F and rainy, so maybe like that? We'll be inside sleeping/not sleeping/being gross a lot so I'm not too concerned

    Coast to Coast...
Born and raised in San Francisco... In NYC for the past 9 years.
It will probably be getting cold when my little one arrives  :(
But I will go to SF in mid January for 1 month to visit family during my maternity leave so that will be nice!

  • I LOVE October in New England!  Halloween costumes always have to be planned so that you could potentially wear a snowsuit under it if you have to, but you'd also be okay if it happens to be 70 degrees out.

There's an old saying: If you don't like the weather in New England, wait a minute.

  • I just hit the one year mark of living in Denver. Last Halloween it was cool but warm enough to wear a skirt- but it was crazy windy. I'm not sure what to expect this year.
  • Chicago suburbs.

Weather over here is completely unpredictable.

LO is due at the end of October, so we will be inside anyway. I'll be sporting my fancy mama attire....dog hair covered yoga pants.

  • I dont know if Im Southeast or Northeast. I picked Southeast, but I live in Central VA. I was born in Raised in PA tho. The weather is usually very nice in October here.
  • Born and raised in NC! Went to college in DC and settled up here. So southeast for me!

It will still be warm during the day come October, but we'll have lovely cool evenings/nights. :)

Born and raised here. I've moved A LOT and some how ended up back here! It's hard to tell what the weather is going to do. I'm going to guess 60's-70's and then cold in the evening. That's how we roll.
I should probably mention I'm in KS. Lol

  • I live in Southern Delaware & have for the last 11 years. The fall / October can be hit or miss but generally not too cold. We have been able to squeeze a few beach days in, in the past a few times.I was born & raised in south central PA & as PP mentioned the change of season into fall is beautiful there, I do miss it sometimes!

I guess so, but its funny in this area. Plus I think of the south east as Georgia, Carolinas etc. Lol. Maybe its the northern part of me refusing to give up! :)

  • I am also in the mid Atlantic, so the weather should be cooling down (hopefully) at the beginning of October.

  • Born and raised in Nashville. LO is due October 4th and the weather is normally pretty perfect around that time. Should be in the 70s (maybe a day or 2 we will hit low 80s) most of the time with cool (50s/60s) evenings and nights.

  • Central Ohio here, so the Midwest.  October is usually pretty nice, but last year it was awful and snowed before the end of the month!  I hope it's nicer this year!

The weather will more than likely be crappy/rainy but we do get some beautiful Octobers occassionally.

  • Same as @FamousEa - In Columbus, Ohio it could be 80 degrees or 30 degrees here.  Last year it snowed in October, but some years we are still in shorts and a t-shirt.

    Columbus, OH as well :)

Normally October has wonderful weather.  It is my favorite month along with April.  Those are the best ( and sometimes only)months to enjoy great weather.  Warm and breezy!

  • Born and raised in southern NY (just north of the city).  I'm due Oct 20, and the weather could be really nice, or it could snow, but I'm hoping to just need a light jacket at that point.  Can't wait, I love autumn!

I voted West Coast, but technically the Pacific Northwest (west coast is a HUGE area for only one option!)  I'm just outside of Seattle.  Grew up just outside of Vancouver, BC, with a brief (8 year) stint in hell, aka Phoenix.  I know some love it there, but it was way too damn hot for me!  So I guess I'm pretty native to the area?

  • I was born and raised in the Midwest (Indiana) and now I live in Texas. In Texas it is still in the 70s/80s in the beginning of October. LO is due towards the end, so it'll likely be in the 50s to 70s. Somehow 70s in Texas feels freezing after a summer in the 90s and 100s.
  • We have a really nice fall in the NW so the weather should still be pretty nice. Crisp but not cold yet.

  • Born and raised in Wisconsin, now living in Minnesota (so no climate improvement).

It could be 60 and gorgeous. It could be 30 and blizzarding. It could be the opposite the next day. There is no predicting.

Weather should be cooled way down. Maybe a long sleeved shirt/onesie and pants. Weather will be in the 60 ' s to 70's.
