Yep. I was just told my co-worker's fiancee/father to her 2 children died in a small plane crash on Thursday night. We all work remotely & she's in another state, but we've worked together for almost 10 yrs. I am in shock. I can't even imagine what she is going through right now.
@bosha711, this wasn't the plane crash in Massachusetts, was it?
I really want to get out of the rut I'm in cooking the same things for lunch and dinner, I think part of the problem is that when I have both the boys at the store with me I can't completely focus on what I'm doing and I find myself buying the same things week after week. I need to figure out a way that I can go to the store by myself once In a while. #FWP
This happens to us when I don't meal plan. It's hard to make myself sit down and generate a list.
Thanks, ladies for your kindness. Just talked to DH and blisters aside, Mason is acting pretty darn good.
Now...do we wait until the blisters are completely gone before he goes back to DC or until he hasn't had a fever for 24 hours? Look at me counting my chickens.
@bosha711, that's terrible news to receive. So sorry to your co-worker.

The doctor told us to wait until he hasn't gotten any new spots in at least a day. Ethan was fever-free for 24 hours and we took him out thinking it was ok. He got more spots after that and was definitely still sick for a few more days. He was sick 5 days before he went back to DC and they wouldn't let him back unless we had a doctor's note. That was Mother's Day weekend and the spots where his blisters were are still visible.

I'd check your daycare rules. We couldn't go back when the fever broke because his spots were still growing. Our rule is, once the blisters have scabbed over (which may never happen, frankly) and spots start shrinking. So we went back when the one blister-ish looking thing started healing and mostly when I noticed that he had less spots than the day before. He was out for almost 4 days.
Spent the morning wheeling the kids around in the grocery cart and spent too much money as usual. Then I let Sophia watch videos of herself playing in the kiddie pool, instead of actually letting her splash around in it today, though maybe she can after her nap. I'm currently eating a slice of "cake for 2" from the grocery store and pretending it's a serving size for one.
During the nap I really need to vacuum and sweep up all of the puffs of dog hair my long-haired german shepherd has shed all over the kitchen floor since I vacuumed and swept yesterday. After the nap, we have to do a bath and then go for family pictures. I'm super excited about the pictures and hope they turn out well!
DH and I went out with friends Saturday night while his mom watched the kids. I tried to get a hold of her about 5 times (over about 1.5 hours) and she never answered so I had an all out panic attack. ( I was on edge because they were driving them home) and I hadn't taken any medicine that day. OMG. It was really embarrassing because his friend was in the back seat and I was just crying and shaking and trying not to puke. He finally got her on the house phone and of course...they were fine.
Anywho, after I recovered we went to a dumb concert and then to a semi cool bar in Greensboro. We got back to his moms house at 4am and decided to have car sex. ). I am not limber enough for that mess. We finally go to bed around 5. And to this I say:
We went out to my parents' house for father's day on Sunday. DH came inside with DD, and we were all hanging out in the kitchen/living room while my brother cooked dinner. I went into the living room and looked outside, and saw DD making her way down the back stairs of the deck. I was just wondering why DH wasn't holding her hand, when I realized she was out there alone. Apparently, she managed to push the back door open and let herself out. I could have died.
In other spectacular parenting news, I managed to crack DD's head on the car while taking her out of the carseat when I brought her home from daycare today. She was napping. She needs to nap so that I can work. I'm sure a headache helps that. Oy.

I whack my poor kids heads on the side of the car multiple times a week. Poor things...

Same when James had HFM. He could go back when the spots were healing/going away. He was out for 4 days. His fever happened before the spots.
My co-worker is having a girl and is thinking of using Maris as the middle name. Her DH is Cuban and Maris means "of the sea." Work is the only place anyone has ever called me Marisa and I think it's so cool that she wants to use my nn. :-)
The boy was an utter terror all weekend long. Utter Terror. We need out of the damn house beyond just going to the grocery store or target but school is already out so I know the zoo and science museum will be packed, plus they're expensive and they raised parking rates for the summer months. I'm. Going. Crazy.
They're raising parking for the summer there? @origamipoppy
I'm stressed bc we have family visiting our house from out of town this Thursday, and my house is NOT in viewing shape. Trying to get pictures hung and bookshelves organized and things deep cleaned, and I hate it all.
Only 30 weeks pregnant and feel like I am 38 weeks. Sooo uncomfortable and soooo many braxton hicks, all the time. Nervous about the next 10ish weeks. I did get some work done on her room though, so that helps me calm a bit.
The good news? I got an unexpected second phone interview for a local position and the face-to-face interview is being scheduled. The bad news? I suck at phone interviews. Fingers crossed that I make up for the rough call with a stellar in-person interview. With a HR director, then the director (who would be my boss), then a small committee, and the director's bosses. It is a half a day! What if I have to pee? Gosh, my nerves may be shot by the time the interview day arrives!
That's an intimidating interview process! I'm sure they'll allow at least 90 seconds for peeing

GL!
I hate half day interviewing grilling like that, but I'm sure you'll do great and get to ask for a bio break. GOOD LUCK!!

I just bought the year of free shipping from Zulily. Things can only go downhill from here.
Would you mind letting me know if balance bikes are on there anytime soon? I only have a chance to look at their site once in awhile and usually only remember when someone on here posts. :-)

We only do that for candidates we are super serious about. FX for an offer!

They actually have a few on there now at varying prices. I'm not sure abut the quality of the brands though.

You can actually do that? I never knew.
Yeah, they put it out a while back and I didn't do it. It's $49 for the year which I have easily spent by now at $7.99 shipping per order, so I figured that I should go ahead and do it now.

I bought it a few months ago. Between Zulily & Amazon Prime, I hate buying things from anywhere else.

I'm on Amazon constantly checking for prices. I came across the grill DH has been eyeing up at a local True Value here. I like to stay local but for $150 less in price on a $850 grill, I'm buying Amazon every time. I'm offically addicted. Btw whoever said something about the Haribo gummies. I died laughing, like in tears with the reviews. So funny!
